My dad, who's white, told me a few times that people have assumed that he must have a thing for asian chicks since he married a chinese women. His response is "I didn't go for a specific race, I simply didn't rule it out."
Alex Sage Great Statement Dad! Most people, especially white people, are in denial about their repressed feelings and fetishes! That's what white people are known for and psychologists have made a career from repressed feelings.
It's good your dad was open to all races, but I can't really blame people for making that assumption because there are a lot of white guys who have "yellow fever" and will only date Asian chicks.
lilaolf depends on the heritage. For example I’m northern indian and it was due to marrying white people that we have a lighter skin compared to the ‘pure’ (south) Indians. However some northern Indians still face scrutiny for marrying white people.
I can't help but think of the double standard around the subject though. When a lesbian says "i have to make her love me" about a straight girl it's adorable but if a straight person said that about a gay person, attempting to "convert" them, it would be considered horrible.
The weirdest part about being in an interracial relationship is the fact that people constantly remind me and my boyfriend of how beautiful our kids would be. Why fetishized mixed kids? 😒 It’s annoying af.
Stephanie Reneé DeRamus I’m think it’s because of the idea of having the best qualities of each person create a wonderful baby. Each race does offer something unique and different to the table, combining those qualities would highlight a couple’s love and beautiful highlights (physically) of each person.
I'm Eastern European and I'm dating a guy of Chinese descent, and it was such a shocker for my family. He's the only person of another ethnicity to enter my family EVER. My grandma made such a displeased face when she met him, it made me feel bad. But he's a really charming person, he won over my family immediately. Now it's time to meet his family of Asian only. I'm scared to be honest. But whatever it doesn't matter, we love each other too much to let a few close minded people upset us. He's the best for me that's what matters 💝
I've been with my husband (who is black) for 14 year's. Together we have 6 daughter's and we live in the south . When we go out we are constantly stared at and whispered about by both black and white. It's sad really but we smile and keep it moving ♥ People judge by stereotypes far too much and we constantly prove them wrong.
LG Risio You prove a good point.. But in some situations it's painfully obvious. No worries though. My children are absolutely beautiful and perfect.. PS they look just like a HUMAN BEING . Beautiful humans at that.. And that's as much as I'm gonna entertain the racist, sad human above.
Susanna Rindlisbacher She talked about her relationship briefly in a mental health video. He is literally the sweetest. They both are so cute, supportive and loving
I didn't think interracial relationships were a big deal, If I love you, I love you not because of your race. I think every race is beautiful in there own way
Unfortunately the "big deal" is less about their mutual love and more about the world's opinion of their love. I totally agree with you that if they love each other that should be the end of it but that is not the world we live in. :(
thanks for finally joining us. race has been a "big deal" since the dawn of time. I guess you're privileged enough to not have to take notice to what's going on around you.
@@lizmowrey9866 You are implying that believing in fairy tales and having a fact / evidence based view are equally valud. That's not the case. I can't imagine being in a relationship with a religious person considering the absurdity of religious arguments.
I'm very white and my boyfriend is black and I honestly don't know if we get more glares for being a interracial couple or a gay couple. It's usually hard to tell the difference.
It probably both bc its like your a minority twice if that makes sense. Your a gay man and your in a interracial relationship. When they stare, do the same. Stare back at em
I think for both reason. It is really confronting. Me and my ex Bf (Dutch, white) were stared all the time in shopping mall, we were holding hands in South Africa which is a very male chauvinist country. Man, that was so daring! I thought people would hit is up anytime soon. But we didn't give a damn!
Completely agree, it’s strange how the media represents interracial relationships as just be black and white. I’m a hispanic male and my gf is black and it’s pretty surprising how rare it is to see that being shown in commercial media.
I agree! It’s so frustrating sometimes. It’s like other interracial couples don’t exist! I’m asian and my boyfriend is black. It’s hard to find a couple in the media like us (but Star Wars hopefully will develop Finn and Rose Tico 💕).
I don't think they meant to exclude any type of interacialcouple. All of these people work for buzzfeed, I'm sure they just volunteered for the video first :)
I'm Navajo and my boyfriend is Arabian. I never really thought about it being interracial until now. What amazes me is that both are cultures are similar and I love it!
Can there be a video about age gap relationships? Doesn’t have to be huge like 20 years but maybe age gaps like 4-12 year difference. Just want more info on the topic
4 years?? I don't think most people would even care/notice that age difference. Unless you're talking, like, 18 and 22. I guess that could be weird. But I'm 23, going on 24 and my hubby is 28. Literally no one cares. :P
amiablehacker Literally the only ones that like to make that a big deal are teenagers, my sister and her husband has 4 years of age gap, for me if the gap is below 8, its nothing to fuss about
I'll never understand peoples mindsets on seeing people in braces... like, sorry that they are attempting to better their teeth? Should they just keep their crooked teeth or overbites because you don't find people in braces appealing? smh.
How did that work out? Because my boyfriend is black and my dad doesn’t approve of him. Every chance he gets he says he prays one day God will open my eyes and I’ll break up with him.
D :3 My husband grew up in a predominately black neighborhood so him marrying a black lady wasn’t really out there. It’s just normal to me. I never really thought about it until I had to explain to my daughters that they were both. My youngest daughter is 6 & calls herself Blaxican. Lol
D :3 I know how you feel. My mother still doesn't fully accept my husband. She asked me not to change my last name to his when we married. She was hoping we would divorce and that way I wouldn't get stuck with his last name.
Coming from the UK, these kinds of videos really hit home how lucky we have it here. I'm in an interracial relationship but we've never faced anything negative at home in the UK. We went on holiday recently to South Africa and it was the first time that we were made to feel conscious that we weren't the same race and it felt horrible. I respect what you go through because I wouldn't want to live like that. I hope things change
When they say love is blind, sometimes it actually is. My boyfriend (Caucasian) and I (African-American) are both blind. The racial difference matters nothing to us, but it seems to other people. I would be naive if I said it doesn’t effect our relationship, but it does. There are social things he does with his family that I get excluded from, but I figure their loss if they really don’t want to get to know me. At least I know what I’m dealing with. What matters most to me is how we feel about each other. We’ve been together for 3 1/2 years and counting! 🙂🙂❤️❤️
I'm newly engaged to a white man. So far we haven't been confronted with situations like you guys have but I know we will have each other's back just like you guys do. You relationships are beautiful!
I've been in an interaccial relationship for almost 10 years and I RARELY think about it, even at the beginning. He's just my love. I don't think about him as his race.
So you're ignoring a fundamental part of who he is and something that has shaped his perspective on the world and contributed greatly to who he is as a person? Ok...werk.
I’m Vietnamese & my boyfriend is Puerto Rican. I was accepted into his family from the beginning. They never saw me different. My family on the other hand - well my mom - took a while to accept that I was dating outside my race. I had to break it down to her that it doesn’t matter what color/race the guy is - if he’s bad/mean he’s gonna be that regardless. My dad said he didn’t care who I dated as long as I was happy and they were treating me right. We get stares when we go out in asian places and we’ve gotten a few rude comments before but we’re about to hit our 12th anniversary so it’s safe to say ignorant people don’t bother us.
I’m married to a Martian and it’s pretty difficult. Making the 6 month journey to Mars is hard enough as it is, but when meeting her parents, it was weird. They didn’t like me because I was from Earth. Hopefully next I travel to mars, it’ll be better.
FUN FACTS: Alabama didn't legalize interracial marriage until 2001. The laws against interracial marriage weren't taken seriously but were never officially undone until 2001
being in an interracial relationship is a really great experience for me. opens your eyes to different perspectives and cultures. i'm from europe and it's probably different here as well
“I have been accused of leaning towards a certain way with the... people I date...” HE LIKE LIGHT SKINNED GIRL! Just say it fam if you do, you do it’s whatever 💅🏽
hikidz09 I love that. I have a lot of people in my family that are old school and I just will never understand why people care anymore about race and gender. I just wish everyone would just see people for who they are not race/gender.
Being Asian in a white country (Spain) is tough to find love or have a relationship. This country is very very racist, you don't normally see a interracial couple walking by... My race is judged, and I feel that I will never find love. I love watching these videos that at least there is hope ❤️ interracial couples are so unique and beautiful
Stel Wellings Sorry to interrupt, but being an Spanish girl dating an Asian I feel like I have the right. I feel like saying that Spain is racist is a bit harsh to say, I guess it depends also of what part of Spain are you. But I have been dating my Asian American girlfriend for a year now, and let me tell you, there's hope for everyone, you just have to wait for the right one. I know many Spanish people that are into Asians, so don't lose hope.
Anna G Masfret yes, you are right. I don't think every Spanish person is racist, but it's unusual to see interracial couples. I live in Andalusia, Almeria to be exact But I'm glad I that you've shared your story, and it makes me happy :)
I can relate!! I’m a ginger with blue eyes, and my boyfriend is half Chinese and half Filipino so we definitely get stares from our predominately white community.
I'll be married to my husband (which he is white) for 5 years in April but I'm also half myself. Growing up seeing an interracial couple was normal for me. I haven't had very much trouble with our relationship, I only get crap from the black men I work with like (you're a traitor or why didn't a n**** get a chance) or whatever the conversation came up that day. I'm definitely the fighter of the relationship and I put my word in, but my argument is always the same. My husband loves, supports, cares for me and our daughter endlessly. And the trust we have together is amazing. If I found any man black, white, or whatever race man or women that did all those things I would have been with them. In the end love and happiness always shows through no matter what the obstacle you just have to be ready to fight for it.
I've been in an interracial relationship for five years and in that time there's been a couple of things that we've both learned and that have brought us together, and made us stronger. First would be that while we didn't fall in love with one another's complexion, we most definitely acknowledge it. It is so essential to understand how we each experience life, and the different realities each of us face due to numerous factors, but predominantly our race. The way the world interacts with us is in very different ways, and to truly know and love someone, you can't ignore that. The second thing is really understanding the societal construct of privilege, and being aware of how that affects our relationship. In certain situations that means that I have to exercise my privilege as a fair-skinned woman - for example, when we have been pulled over by the police, I use my voice in a situation where it wouldn't be safe for him to do so. He also steps into that role when exercising his privilege as a man. The last point I'll make here is that while we are aware and constantly discuss the issues of race and the difficulties we face, our two cultures have also brought so much beauty and soul to our relationship. I'm a Mexican/Canadian and he's a Jamaican/Canadian and it has been beautiful from the start. I am certain that a lot of that is due to the fact that we take the time to ensure we really listen to one another, that we strive to learn, and that we really appreciate and respect each other's differences.
It would be really interesting to hear about dating, relationships, life, etc from people who are mixed(especially and equal mix of a bunch of different races rather than 90% obviously this and a little of something else) and for people who are adopted to a family of a vastly different race, like a black person who was adopted and raised in a white family, or a chinese person being raised in a spanish household. I'm both and I have never dated partly due to worries about those things. Things like how my highschool didnt have the prep, jock, nerd, cliques but was more by race I use to think that since I have no idea what I am I and since I'm not one thing, would anyone like me or do they just want someone their own race or things like would my family accept them or would they accidentally do something offensive (my parents are old and dont understand why certain things like doing a cheesy asian accent is seen as racist even if they dont mean any harm by it and they only see it as a silly voice and not as "The asian voice/how all asians sound"). Seeing and hearing how others went through it would really help me and hopefully others.
Alicia DeMarco Hi, I'm also mixed raced, but I have never even thought about the race or ethnicity of my friends or partner. I have friends from all kinds of different backgrounds and dating wise chances are small I would find someone with exactly the same mix as me :p. My advice would be to not worry about it too much and if people don't understand, just try to have a calm conversion.
I'm mixed african and oriental and I was adopted by the most typical white french family ever when I was 3 months old. Obviously because my parents were white, race was never really brought up to me so it was a weird thing when I started experiencing racism at school and later in the work place . I discussed it with them and as much as they empathize they don't understand really how much of an issue it can be. I relate to you when you say that you felt that you didn't really belong anywhere. I always felt too "white" for the blacks and too "black" for the whites . I've been told that i talk "white" and that i'm trying to be white even tho I'm not. But it's a bit difficult to situate myself as I was raised by white people in a mostly white environment. I mostly dated people from other races in my life, white, arabic or asian and I'm always a bit aprehensive when it's time to meet the parents because some of them really didn't like me solely based on my skin color. Other than that, my partners never had an issue with that except the fact that they didn't really get the time I spent on my hair haha.
my dad is syrian/Armenian/Iranian and mum is Irish (verryyyy completely different people/backgrounds) .. never had any issues or accidental racism or anything from mums side of the family to my dad or dads side towards mums side i love being mixed
Im Latin and mixed race, and I I’ve never consider ethnicity or race as a part of dating honestly I think if you like a person you don’t see that stuff, in the end we’re all human, so as long as it’s a nice person who I like I don’t care about any of that
i'm latina and german mixed. But race isn't that of an issue here, especially for females. I mean I sometimes feel like I don't fit in perfectly to both cultures. But no one fits perfectly into society and I have accepted to just be an european with peruvian background. Visiting Peru helped accepting and finding my identity. And about dating I never felt like I'm a mixed race and can't be with someone of “another race“. I often even forget I'm not totally “white“. So I dated several “whites“, one indian, 2 persians, and mixed people too (german-portuguese, german-asian, german-turkish). and we talked a bit about culture, similarities and differences but race was never an issue. Especially because race is not a used word or concept in german. we talk about ethnicities and cultures more. At least in the region where I live
I'm Mexican American and my boyfriend is Italian American. I never thought about us being two different cultures. Our families don't care either. It's pretty nice. If we could have babies they would be gorgeous. Haha
I'm Mexican/Irish and my husband is Vietnamese. His family was pretty accepting of me, of course his mother wanted to set him up with a Vietnamese woman, but he had never been attracted to other Vietnamese woman. We are having a baby in September and his mother has been soooo amazingly sweet now.
My boyfriend is Vietnamese too- alltho he has been living here in my home country Finland half his life. Cultural aspects aren't any big deal (yet) but the language barrier can be a bit of a challenge! I met his mum for the first time not long ago and we're not fluent in the same languages so it felt kinda awkward. I won't get to meet her again in some months since the relationship is long-distance... so I'm a bit unsure how I will be able to improve her impression of me. Sorry for asking, but do you have any advice or experiences to share when it comes to this meeting-parents thing? I hope your baby is happy and healthy!
My husband is Mexican and I'm black the only time we really think about race is the language barrier I have with some of his family members.people think because you date a Hispanic or someone of Spanish decent that your automatically supposed to know the language because they speak the language.its so annoying it not as easy or simple as it seems.especially when your spouse or significant other speaks English for the most part except around relatives.other than that race doesn't matter to me it doesn't even exist as far as I'm concerned we might look different have a different way of doing things and speak a different language but we are all the same.we're all God's children.
I have 5 kids. My two oldest daughters are mixed (Black/ White/Choctaw-Indian), and my three youngest are black. Although I'm no longer with my oldest daughter's mother, I have a lot more genuine respect for interracial dating. I mean mixed children are so beautiful. Plus it's so unique to see both sides of the family come together on special occasions.. in fact I have a lot of family members who've now married people outside of their race and it's the coolest thing I tell you 👍👍
My fiance is Filipino and Egyptian and I'm white and Mexican. I always worry about how other people are going to view my fiance especially since he's dark and Muslim. Introducing him to my family was tough on both sides of my family but surprisingly I get more lash back from Mexican side than my hillbilly side. You never know what to expect but all that matters is that you love and care about each other. Gotta always stick together and stand up for what's right. 👍 Everyone else will come around eventually. Our babies are going to be mixed af and beautiful. ❤
GG Larson oof as a Muslim somali girl I can understand how hard it is , my husband is a convert and he’s black my family is very unwelcoming to him but love is love regardless and if you’re happy that’s what matters hun❤️💕💕💕
When I was in middle school I was in an interracial relationship with a neighbor of mine. My mom was cool with it but when my dad, grandma, and grandpa found out it was awful. They made me feel guilty like I was doing something wrong even though I just saw a cute guy that I was really good friends with so I couldn't see the problem. I remember my mom finding out about my grandparents telling me that what I was doing was wrong so she made them leave our house she was so furious, but still the bad feelings didn't go away because my day and grandparents always just looked at me with such disappointment every time they saw me. I eventually broke up with the guy just to make my dad happy, but I was so heartbroken at the time..
The only issue I found with this was when the one girl said her partner was “good at code switching”. You should not have to code switch in the presence of white people or any other race.
Everyone code-switches all the time. Going from work to a family dinner is considered code-switching. While it is a much more tender subject with regards to race for all the obvious reasons, it is very natural to somewhat adapt to your surroundings. Code-switching does not imply giving up, denying, or under-valuing your identity: it means trying to find a middle ground between you and your surroundings.
JackieHakalaJackson you’re so right. I don’t say the same slang words at work or uni that I would amongst my friends and family. Mostly because I can’t be bothered to explain what I mean if people don’t understand
It's just sad to walk around and constantly be reminded that you're not white. I was adopted into a white family living in a white neighbourhood. So I get most of the financial and educational benefits of white privilege but people still treat me differently. Which shows how much it really is about the colour of your skin. Most of the time people ask me about my "heritage" or "culture". They mean well, but it's awful to explain that your "culture" is the same as theirs. Honestly, it's very offensive when people start bowing to you whilst using different greetings from various asian countries. Bruh, we both can't speak that language.
It’s good to see how this has become so much more acceptable. My grandparents were in an interracial marriage and my white grandfather was kicked out of his university for being married to a black woman.
"there was this moment where she was off the ice, lacing up her boots and she just looked up at me and smiled. And I was like I have to make her love me." Awwww ❤️❤️❤️
My boyfriend is an immigrant from Hong Kong. It's been an eye opening experience the longer I've dated him. There are cultural differences that I've never realized and it's so amazing. It'll be almost a year soon! ❤️
I’m a mixed child. My parents were in a interracial relationship (mom is white dad is black). Me and my mom have talked multiple times about the encounters with people and their relationship. Some of her stories pain me. They were together in the 90s and it was really hard for them and to think interracial marriage was only legalized around 50-55 years ago. I’m so glad they brought me into this world. Even though I get asked “what are you mixed with” or “aren’t you Puerto Rican?”. Everyone always gets surprised when I say my race and I get backlash a lot. People saying ohhh your mom took a good black man, and all that. Even through all that, this video gives me hope.
Maru Maugeri it's not cus they're from the US it's mostly cultural issues from other countries. Some countries culturally don't like interracial dating or marriages.
I'm white American and my husband is Japanese. We were introduced by a mutual friend. We started dating within 5 days and moved in together 5 days after that. We just clicked and that's it. Been together for 6 years now. We get some weird looks or racist strangers approaching us every now and then, but our families get along great.
I'm Chinese and my boyfriend is Fijian, we for sure get double takes when we are out in public or when we get out. A lot of times people just think we are going out as friends lmao.
I’m asian and my boyfriend is black. We can’t go anywhere without getting stared out in the south. I’ve had to cut gum out of my hair and it sucks that people won’t even let us go grocery shopping without rude stares, comments, or whatever. We’re fixing to leave ASAP to somewhere that is more respectful of our relationship and takes us more seriously.
Can u do a inter- cultural and religion video? I can relate to that. And it is a struggle that many do not understand the functionality. Love the video 👏🏻
This couple proves how much they love each other even when they are from different races. Being in an interracial relationship is interesting. You can learn a lot from different perspectives and cultures.
Love is love. There is nothing wrong with people dating outside if their race. And I dont belive people should be hated for it .But the media is definitely has an interracial agenda. Every top UA-cam recommendation, tv commercial, movie, ect is promoting interracial dating. It's become a trend . And mixed kids are being fetishized .Be in a relationship because you love that person. you are two human beings there is no need to keep reinstating that you are an interracial couple, people can clearly see that. It's not more special than being with someone of the same race .
Fi👏🏽nal👏🏽ly 👏🏽 more interracial love content from an outlet like Buzzfeed!! An interracial relationship has its very unique experiences that need to share ♥️
10:46 I love this point! It is so so so important that parents who don't look like their kids understand this. While you can't be in their shoes it's so important to educate yourself. A
It is lovely to see the couples that have been together a long time and their confident in their relationship but I’m glad they included a couple that’s only been together 5 months, it shows the kind of beginning stage where they’re both figuring out how to navigate the social side of their relationship that they may not have thought of before a certain point
I'm a hapa girl and I'm so glad i live in Hawaii where nobody even seems to think about these things. Everyone here is so mixed and it's awesome. Being hapa is seen as a good thing here. Aloha!!! 💚💚💚
Absolutely love this video! I too have always dated out of my own race never was a problem. My identical twin sister has a married to her husband but just passed away for 25 years and he too is black and they have three children together.I grew up around all different races I never knew that there were people out there that disliked it until I was about 13 years old, I was raised in a house that never mentioned anything about anyone skin color nationality you name, also in our home we never discussed people’s gender or their preference i’m a 42-year-old woman and I have two children make sure that my children know we do not control Who we love regardless of their gender color or race it’s all about how one treat you.. I have left friendships after finding out what their mind thinking is I cannot be around someone that is very close minded! I can say out of everyone of your couples tonight I can tell the love is so huge in the relationship that’s priceless! #ThankYou
Im in an interracial relationship (Im black and my boyfriend is mexican) and yes now and again you will have people do double takes or people stare but who cares lol we love each other and were happy! (BTW most people are actually excited about us being interracial )
Y'know it's possible that some (not many, but some) people doing a "double take" could be doing it because they think you two look like "a nice couple."
These kinds of videos always make me smile because I am an interracial baby. My mom is white and my dad is Korean so people often get confused on my ethnicity. I know that I will probably be part of an interracial relationship one day because I’ve grown up in a prominently white community, but thank you buzzfeed.
My dad, who's white, told me a few times that people have assumed that he must have a thing for asian chicks since he married a chinese women. His response is "I didn't go for a specific race, I simply didn't rule it out."
What ur dad said was nicely put, thumbs up for ur dad,,,,,
Much blessungs from California
Alex Sage Great Statement Dad!
Most people, especially white people, are in denial about their repressed feelings and fetishes! That's what white people are known for and psychologists have made a career from repressed feelings.
Aha!!! That's genius
It's good your dad was open to all races, but I can't really blame people for making that assumption because there are a lot of white guys who have "yellow fever" and will only date Asian chicks.
I respect that
“I have to make her love me” okay that’s cute
Lovely Lilax
Unless a straight guy was thinking about that toward a gay woman...
Nope just as cute is gay woman chooses not to thats fine if she does fall for the man thats called Bi.... Lol that was me in a situation
Lovely Lilax It also helps that she has Kristen Bell's infectous voice haha
I find interracial relationships so beautiful
Ishan Ali, lol lame
lilaolf depends on the heritage. For example I’m northern indian and it was due to marrying white people that we have a lighter skin compared to the ‘pure’ (south) Indians. However some northern Indians still face scrutiny for marrying white people.
Ishan Ali why, so you can convert people from every race to your ways of life?
I want to be in an interracial relationship
LG Risio are you thinking black and white or just any mix?
Ok, but the lesbian couple are the cutest thing I've ever seen. "I have to make her love me." I'm not crying, you're crying
Kameron Douglas i literally cried that was so WHOLESOME
It’s so precious 😩
Kameron Douglas yes
I can't help but think of the double standard around the subject though. When a lesbian says "i have to make her love me" about a straight girl it's adorable but if a straight person said that about a gay person, attempting to "convert" them, it would be considered horrible.
Kameron Douglas I am crying it's okay
The weirdest part about being in an interracial relationship is the fact that people constantly remind me and my boyfriend of how beautiful our kids would be. Why fetishized mixed kids? 😒 It’s annoying af.
Stephanie Reneé DeRamus i dont know maybe its exotic
Stephanie Reneé DeRamus I’m think it’s because of the idea of having the best qualities of each person create a wonderful baby. Stephanie Reneé DeRamus ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Selena Pama that’s a beautiful way of looking at it but unfortunately that’s not always the way people look at it
Stephanie Reneé DeRamus wow my bf is Korean and im mixed but still really light but im told my kids will be darker
I'm Puerto Rican and dating a Vietnamese guy~ Going on 3 years! I wasn't accepted by his sister (still partially not) but we never let it bother us (:
Omg I’m Vietnamese & my boyfriend is Puerto Rican!!!
LOL! That's too freaking awesome! XD You guys ever had an issues?
Haha, I’m a black girl dating a Vietnamese guy, and his parents love me already, I still have yet to meet his sister~
Mexican married to a vietnamese man. 😊💜
I'm Eastern European and I'm dating a guy of Chinese descent, and it was such a shocker for my family. He's the only person of another ethnicity to enter my family EVER. More Random Than Me God bless you both. I wish you many happy years together.
I feel my dude. I hope my family is accepting when they meet my boyfriend :/ race shouldn’t be a factor in love 💕
Hessed3712 Thank you a lot!
Ally Garr Exactly!!
Oh please they will love that your white Lol.
I've been with my husband (who is black) for 14 year's. Together we have 6 daughter's and we live in the south . When we go out we are constantly stared at and whispered about by both black and white. It's sad really but we smile and keep it moving ♥
People judge by stereotypes far too much and we constantly prove them wrong.
LG Risio clearly the comment above yours contradicts your comment. Either way I am glad the OP is able to turn up her nose at these stupid comments.
Lady Lotus yes! preach!
honest question, why are you still living in the south then?
Lady Lotus why’s it always the fattest white girls who date black men
The woman in the purple dress has the most soothing voice ever
I had no idea Sheridan was married!
Kirsten m I know right!
I knew she was but I didn't know her husband was white
Awww Sheridan and Peter are a wonderful couple. I had no idea she was even married.
Susanna Rindlisbacher She talked about her relationship briefly in a mental health video. He is literally the sweetest. They both are so cute, supportive and loving
I didn't think interracial relationships were a big deal, If I love you, I love you not because of your race. I think every race is beautiful in there own way
Hello It's Jello Yaasss.
Hello It's Jello Thank you enlightened individual. 😊
I feel the same way but when you experience it yourself.. it does go to race a lot of the times . You get a feedback from strangers and family.
You guys should do an interfaith relationship video!
That would be cool because to me it doesn’t make sense to me lol
I wish I could give this more thumbs up because I would LOVE to see that!
@@magpierandoms6272 I think it could be possible so long as nobody is pushing their beliefs on the other
@@lizmowrey9866
You are implying that believing in fairy tales and having a fact / evidence based view are equally valud.
I think for both tbh
I wish they showed anything other than black and white it's so cliché. Can we see some asian and white, or hispanic and and black or something.
Sadie Carter they had the one black and latina couple, but I wish they also had a bigger range of interracial couples
Completely agree, it’s strange how the media represents interracial relationships as just be black and white. I’m a hispanic male and my gf is black and it’s pretty surprising how rare it is to see that being shown in commercial media.
Sadie Carter I agree! I’m a black woman and my husband is Asian. Hardly ever see that combo, so I get excited whenever I do lol
I think there was. It was about Hannah and her hubby. I don't know how to find it, though.
4 years?? I don't think most people would even care/notice that age difference. Unless you're talking, like, 18 and 22. I guess that could be weird. But I'm 23, going on 24 and my hubby is 28. Literally no one cares. :P
amiablehacker Yeah, like when it's over ten years people are usually a little weirded out, but as long as it's adults I don't think people mind
amiablehacker Literally the only ones that like to make that a big deal are teenagers, my sister and her husband has 4 years of age gap, for me if the gap is below 8, its nothing to fuss about
I would love to see that. My husband and I have 16 years between us. I'm 21 and he's 37.
I'll never understand peoples mindsets on seeing people in braces... like, sorry that they are attempting to better their teeth? Should they just keep their crooked teeth or overbites because you don't find people in braces appealing? smh.
Idk I literally got more attention because I had braces 😬 I actually missed them
It's 2018 kinda sad this still matters.
Glad these people are happy with each other tho.
Yeah it’s sad it still matters but talking about it is VERY important
Cassie B yeah
Rey_Bread T It is very sad. Love is love.
Why should it NOT be an issue in 2018? What's so special about 2018?
that music is terrible lmaooo
I’m black. My husband is Mexican. I forget we’re different races all the time! 😂😂
Caymiya same
How did that work out? Because my boyfriend is black and my dad doesn’t approve of him. Every chance he gets he says he prays one day God will open my eyes and I’ll break up with him.
D :3 My husband grew up in a predominately black neighborhood so him marrying a black lady wasn’t really out there. It’s just normal to me. I never really thought about it until I had to explain to my daughters that they were both. My youngest daughter is 6 & calls herself Blaxican. Lol
D :3 sucks u can’t love who you want without pressure like that from ur family. ☹️
Same, I hope things change too♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
UK is definitely racist
When they say love is blind, sometimes it actually is. My boyfriend (Caucasian) and I (African-American) are both blind. The racial difference matters nothing to us, but it seems to other people. I would be naive if I said it doesn’t effect our relationship, but it does. There are social things he does with his family that I get excluded from, but I figure their loss if they really don’t want to get to know me. At least I know what I’m dealing with. What matters most to me is how we feel about each other. We’ve been together for 3 1/2 years and counting! 🙂🙂❤️❤️
I never thought about it like that...
Cody Whitlock hey again c:
The family sees it other wise lmao
how...generic
No one does, until their face with their typical pattern is same shade, shape, and heights. 😂
Your everywhere
I'm newly engaged to a white man. So far we haven't been confronted with situations like you guys have but I know we will have each other's back just like you guys do. You relationships are beautiful!
0:24 who else didn't know she was married or in a relationship
It's just Alaina What do you mean?
Jessica J. I didn’t know that she was married or even dating someone
It's just Alaina do u know her personally? If not, what about her had u question if she was in a relationship?
I've been in an interaccial relationship for almost 10 years and I RARELY think about it, even at the beginning. He's just my love. I don't think about him as his race.
So you're ignoring a fundamental part of who he is and something that has shaped his perspective on the world and contributed greatly to who he is as a person? Ok...werk.
DarkAndDandy dude chill you know what she meant
Yeah, I know exactly what she meant which is why I replied as such.
DarkAndDandy you replied like a troll, keep this positive video positive man
What OP said was dismissive to the very nature of the video, and don't tell me what to do.
Tiffany Nguyen that's great. I'm Puerto rican and my fiance is Chinese. We get plenty of stares too when in the Asian community.
I’m married to a Martian and it’s pretty difficult. Making the 6 month journey to Mars is hard enough as it is, but when meeting her parents, it was weird. They didn’t like me because I was from Earth. Hopefully next I travel to mars, it’ll be better.
Santa5125 loool
More like a ten year journey haha
Santa5125 what😂😂😂😂😂😂
I'm so mad I laughed at this
Santa5125 Cute!!
FUN FACTS: Alabama didn't legalize interracial marriage until 2001. The laws against interracial marriage weren't taken seriously but were never officially undone until 2001
Ha. Yes. I didn't learn this until I started dating in AL.
Whaaaa-? That's crazy
No way 😫
Alabama is a... interesting state
Horrible fact
being in an interracial relationship is a really great experience for me. opens your eyes to different perspectives and cultures. i'm from europe and it's probably different here as well
“I have been accused of leaning towards a certain way with the... people I date...”
HE LIKE LIGHT SKINNED GIRL!
Just say it fam if you do, you do it’s whatever 💅🏽
Luckily I'm biracial myself & my parents could care less who brought home. They love my husband
hikidz09 same
hikidz09 I love that. I have a lot of people in my family that are old school and I just will never understand why people care anymore about race and gender. I just wish everyone would just see people for who they are not race/gender.
Lacyanne I totally agree, there are so many bigger things to worry about.
Same! Hence my parents actually dont really care what poc they are, as long as they are respectful its fine 👌🏻
he said his white latino gf faded away when he was being spoken down to and singled out... was I surprised? not at all.
Mon Cheri and did you catch that Last little bit about ppl calling him out for only dating white-Ish women. 🤦🏽♀️like sis we don’t care.
Vice versa as well, it happens all over in the races
He's a man, he needs to fight his own battles
She looks like black women in my family.
@@Aurischoice Nah, you definitely do. You and Mon Cheri just proved it.
I live in Andalusia, Almeria to be exact
But I'm glad I that you've shared your story, and it makes me happy :)
I can relate!! I’m a ginger with blue eyes, and my boyfriend is half Chinese and half Filipino so we definitely get stares from our predominately white community.
I'm white and my boyfriend is black and there are so many things in this video we can both relate to. Thank you for this, buzzfeed.
Other than that, my partners never had an issue with that except the fact that they didn't really get the time I spent on my hair haha.
my dad is syrian/Armenian/Iranian and mum is Irish (verryyyy completely different people/backgrounds) .. never had any issues or accidental racism or anything from mums side of the family to my dad or dads side towards mums side
i love being mixed
Haha
Sheridan and her boyfriend are goals. So is the lesbian couple.
raachellbaaby xoxo ikr? I want all the Instagram handles!
That escalated quickly 😂
I’m from Norway!
Crazy Gaming-girls bra jeg ikke er den eneste nordmannen som ser på buzzfeed 😂
Crazy Gaming-girls eg og😀
Crazy Gaming-girls me too

My husband is Mexican and I'm black the only time we really think about race is the language barrier I have with some of his family members.people think because you date a Hispanic or someone of Spanish decent that your automatically supposed to know the language because they speak the language.its so annoying it not as easy or simple as it seems.especially when your spouse or significant other speaks English for the most part except around relatives.other than that race doesn't matter to me it doesn't even exist as far as I'm concerned we might look different have a different way of doing things and speak a different language but we are all the same.we're all God's children.
Aw I love this x
why is interracial only black and white? what happened to asians or more latinos in interracial relationships
“When I went to the cookout”
Yep, it’s official 😍😂💕🙌🏽
Wow, thanks for sharing your stories. These conversations NEED to be had and shared. 🤗
It's great to hear how protective some partners are and how their blinders are removed when it comes to the way they get to move in the US.
I'm in an interracial relationship in China, the stares and comments never end
The only issue I found with this was when the one girl said her partner was “good at code switching”. You should not have to code switch in the presence of white people or any other race.
Tori516 Same! That whole sequence was very uncomfortable. “You inhabit white spaces comfortably?...” What??
We shouldn't yet we feel we have to so we can blend in
Everyone code-switches all the time.
Amber and C.T. are so amazing. Love your outfits!
My mum has no problem if I did date someone outside my race but my dad is a diffrent story....but they are getting divorced so it's gonna be oki
Kareen .I hope everything goes well between your parents
Delan_lan Thanks hope everything goes well in your life as well😊
It's just sad to walk around and constantly be reminded that you're not white.
Why does Sheridan’s husband lowkey remind me of Kim Possible? Like the clothes and everything! Call me beep me if you want to reach me lol😀
I'm from Norway, and GOOD ON YOU, Sheridan!
Im biracial (Irish and Congo), with my Italian man for 10 years now. 😙
My boyfriend is an immigrant from Hong Kong. It's been an eye opening experience the longer I've dated him. There are cultural differences that I've never realized and it's so amazing. It'll be almost a year soon! ❤️
The only thing important about dating someone is age. Not as in 25 year old dating a 27 year old, but a 14 year old "dating" a 26 year old.
Wow, do some people from the US consider an interracial relationship as something weird? It's 2018...
Thank you for using some, braise so many people say all people from the US
Maru Maugeri it's not cus they're from the US it's mostly cultural issues from other countries. Some countries culturally don't like interracial dating or marriages.
Maru Maugeri interracial couples are disgusting
Slavery!
As someone who used to be in exactly the same relationship, right down to the ethnicities, I hope things are still going strong for you two
Love is love, it can't be predicted and it can't be unnoticed
They are all so cute, it doesn't matter. They are all beautiful in their own way!
I always forget I’m the product of an interracial marriage 😂🙌😝
Wow! Happy tears 🤗 beautiful conversations
Why does "interracial" only mean "white and black" to Buzzfeed?
Sheridan is GORGEOUS! Like dang girl! She is stunning!
Can u do a inter- cultural and religion video?
I can relate to that. And it is a struggle that many do not understand the functionality.
Love the video 👏🏻
That guy with the blue shirt is cute! and his voice is soooo soothing
This couple proves how much they love each other even when they are from different races. Being in an interracial relationship is interesting. You can learn a lot from different perspectives and cultures.
This was SUCH an eye opening video I’m so glad I watched it it was really interesting
This is the kind of content I want to see on BuzzFeed! Great video.
I'm in a gay interracial relationship. It was nice seeing this.
Fi👏🏽nal👏🏽ly 👏🏽 more interracial love content from an outlet like Buzzfeed!! An interracial relationship has its very unique experiences that need to share ♥️
What would be cool is if they had other examples of interracial relationships besides black and white
Yes. I never see anyone with my relationship combination. It's kinda disheartening.
One of the couples is black and Latina
Still Caucasian not different really
10:46 I love this point! It is so so so important that parents who don't look like their kids understand this. While you can't be in their shoes it's so important to educate yourself. A
I love this channel so much.
Mina Bae yes i will.
It is lovely to see the couples that have been together a long time and their confident in their relationship but I’m glad they included a couple that’s only been together 5 months, it shows the kind of beginning stage where they’re both figuring out how to navigate the social side of their relationship that they may not have thought of before a certain point
I’m biracial. Anyone else?
I'm a hapa girl and I'm so glad i live in Hawaii where nobody even seems to think about these things. Everyone here is so mixed and it's awesome. Being hapa is seen as a good thing here. Aloha!!! 💚💚💚
Does it matter what race you date??😕....."love is blind"😘😘💟💞💖
Beatrice Adonis It shouldn’t but many people still act like it does 😒😒
Beatrice Adonis ..love is not blind because you know when it happens and you feel the same way for each other...Love has no labels...
HONESTLY😍
damn this reminds me of Deadpool 😂😂😂
Yes it matters
#ThankYou
*Being in a normal relationship?*
nothing normal about dating a neanderthal.
Please do more videos like these. Discussions like this are so important and beautiful
my boyfriend is Chinese and I'm Latina 😂 but ah, I love him so much

Love sees no colour.....love is beautiful..
