    I'm a 50 year old Black American and I can honestly tell you track suits/jump suits whatever you wanna call them have been almost like the B-Boy or Hip Hop uniform in New York since the 80's. You don't even have to take my word for it. If you watch old music videos from the 80s of L.L. Cool J. Run DMC. The Fat Boys. Eric B and Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, all the break dancers, the list goes on and on. They were all rocking track suites in alot of their videos and concerts. That carried right on into the early 90s.

    Bruh!!!!some of these people gotta be stopped. They want popular culture to go through where they’re from so bad that they make up historical non-facts. Nobody in the U.S. is paying attention to anything going on in Great Britain when it comes to street or even pop culture as 90% of it comes from us. Lest we forget the most culturally influential group on the planet is drum roll please, that’s right you guessed it (Afro-Americans) not Afro-Brits. I rock with the Afro British, but we have never looked to any other group for style, fashion, music, dance, art, culinary, inventions, sports ect. We have verifiable historical receipts in the categories listed above.

    • @bjrnthebootybandit
      @bjrnthebootybandit 6 місяців тому +3

      I agree on some of these but the most culturally influential is "white western culture" which is so prominent we don't even notice it. Also Italy is listed as the most culturally influential nation on the planet. Culture is not just pop music and urban culture. Apparently the concept of "pop" came from pop art in the UK but it was not the black folk over there. Gen Z types are uneducated across the world as I see young New Yorkers arguing with Young Chicagoans about similar dumb takes.

    • @unclekenala
      @unclekenala 6 місяців тому +9

      I get and understand what you’re saying, but what is “white western culture” and in what context is “white western culture” the most influential? It seems your definition of culture as to what you’re referring to may not be culture be colonialism. As for Italy being the most influential nation, how? In what space? In what profession? Trade? Art? Architecture? Language? Music? Militarily?technology? The source that you may have gotten this from seems that it may lean heavily into Eurocentric ideas. The only influence I can imagine as to why one would list Italy as the most influential is, the “Catholic Church,” luxury fashion brands, and well known luxury car brands along with a great culinary resume, which wouldn’t be enough to list them as the most influential nation. I was referring to a group of people, who are without hesitation the most imitated and copied on the planet. Even if I boiled it down to western black people from Jamaica and America, these are the most culturally imitated and influential groups when dealing with street and popular culture and especially music. I agree with your point 50/50

    • @bjrnthebootybandit
      @bjrnthebootybandit 6 місяців тому +1

      @@unclekenala forgive me if I wasn't clear. The very foundation of our society and all modern successful nations are built and copied from the European blueprint. "Western culture is a broad term used to describe the social norms, belief systems, traditions, customs, values, and so forth that have their origin in Europe or are based on European culture."
      I was referring to European which is synonymous with white western imo. To say Black American and Black Caribbean are the most culturally imitated in the world is crazy. In Western societies, the default is European values/traditions. Every single person follows at least some of them from language, modern capitalism, democracy, rule of law, human rights, festivals, religion the way you dress - half the world wears Britain's national dress to work i.e. the two piece suit, most university graduates in America and the western world wear the black gown and cap which derives from Oxford and Cambridge Universities (United Kingdom), to having white weddings which come from France and the United Kingdom. School uniforms trace back to 12th century Britain. If you conform/copy these nobody notices as its just seen as the norm. If a person from another race dresses in clothes made and produced by white people/nations nobody notices as its seen as the norm but if white people start rocking traditional African clothes e.g. dashiki, it would raise eyebrows.
      Urban street fashion, and music is such a small part of global cultural practices and influence and are not as pervasive as you imagine. Many countries citizens don't dress "hip hop" as the norm. You have emo's, punk style, conservative dressers, formal dressers (shirts, suits, etc) people who mostly wear denim, skater boy etc etc. Even many black people don't confirm to the hip hop/street look and the middle classes and higher, wear European designer brands. Even your example of music history doesn't hold up "completely." The most recent innovations to music definitely come from Black American and the Caribbean, who brought over the soul and spirituals from their African roots but often combined them with European made instruments and tonality which created Blues, Jazz and Rock n roll. Hip hop uses sampling which was already being practiced by the French and Germans. Even Techno relied on European synthesizer music from German band Kraftwerk. As I said Western Culture is so pervasive we don't even notice it.

    • @unclekenala
      @unclekenala 6 місяців тому +13

      @@bjrnthebootybandit I appreciate your response, but I am afraid that you may not recognize that your views are heavily steeped in Eurocentrism. I would first like to address the history of music. Jazz and blues are both forms of musical expressions that were birthed after the creation of American Ragtime music. All of these early genres were created by Afro Americans in the deep south starting from the late 1800's to the 1900's. I am extremely familiar with the history of Jazz, Blues, & Zydeco as I am literally from the birthplace of Jazz (New Orleans, Louisiana) and my neighbor is Mississippi which is the birthplace of Blues. From Ragtime in no particular order comes Blues, Jazz, Gospel, Soul, Rock & Roll ,Country, R&B, Hip Hop/rap, reggae, house, techno ect. Believing that only the "most recent innovations to music come from Black American and Caribbean is actually insane. Black Americans specifically are responsible for almost all forms of modern music. Research Jazz, blues, ragtime, gospel, rock and roll, r&b, hip hop, soul, gospel and see what names and faces pop up as the inventors. The main and first instrument used in American Ragtime was the stride piano which was created in Harlem, New York. The Trumpet dates back to Ancient Egypt, Ancient China, and even Scandinavia. Yes a lot of modern instruments come from Europe, but many historians and evidence have shown that Africans have been well advanced in music rather it be drumming, singing, whistling, or chanting for thousands of years.
      While you have not made such a direct suggestion, the tone of your response causes one to believe that you are of the impression that Europeans are responsible for the creation of modern music and modern civilization. You do realize African Civilization was the first to reach the iron age? which brought forth the creation of modern society and its inventions.
      As for your view on the Europe being a blueprint for successful nations, this is very inaccurate, once again I think your confusing colonialism with culture and contribution. Europe is one of the reasons that ancient civilizations and the history that existed for thousands of years perished do to savagery and barbarism. Racism, discrimination, segregation, plots and mostly successful campaigns to wipe-out indigenous populations, pillaging of resources and goods, burning of libraires and temples, the murder and decimation of millions across the globe and so much more, all so the European can feel important and the grand scheme of existence is not a blueprint for a successful nation. What belief systems are you referring to? are you speaking about non-fiction or fiction? do you mean belief systems like Christianity that have been well researched and documented to have started in Africa ( Ethiopia has the Oldest Bible ). A lot to unpack and even debunk in your previous reply concerning values, traditions, ect.
      Do you know whom and what group of people the now departed Stan Lee based Marvel Super Heroes? Have you ever seen the Avatar? do you know what group of people James Cameron also based his story on? What about King Kong ( clue: the Kong Mountains only exist in Africa). The Star of Africa worlds largest diamond is in the royal families staff/scepter, most European museums have predominately stolen ancient African and Asian artifacts that they refuse to give back. Why? because they would have nothing to show if they gave back every ancient nation its artifacts, scrolls, and art.
      To end this long response I respect your feedback and input, but I have no doubt that some of your views are an emotional response to a being taught the false, principles, philosophies, history, and ideologies that Europe is responsible for the advanced world, and this is far from accurate or truth. The very keyboards and phones we use and types on, the resources come from and are mostly mined in Africa by Africans, all the way down to European chocolate which is made with African Coca.

      @@calaragazza3556 I agree we should drop the word over time, however that isn’t the point of contention.
      The “n-word” is an incredibly powerful term that was popularized within the confines of one country.
      The same place where the distinction between African and African-American was born; our identity and origin of identity.
      The term is embedded within American history and was so commonplace that it’s presence has lasted hundreds of years, only diminishing it’s power when we co-opted the term.
      It’s essentially worked because it’s still seen as incredibly ignorant for a whyte person to spout the word off.
      It was a method of a specific lineage of individuals (Black Americans) fighting back against our oppressors by stealing hateful language.
      If you don’t share that lineage, who are you to casually partake in a closed circuit culture completely isolated from you?
      Such language will naturally fall in popularity as the Black community gains more social power; which is inevitable as we are next to inherit all once more. Until the things that ail us are corrected, there won’t be much change.

They told her not to. Prince Charles is polish. And they didn’t want his last name. Prince Charles dad was mad that he was giving up his last name.

    The question about Royal last names is lowkey a trick question. He keeps asking it and I want someone to check him over it! The Royals who are entitled to the style of ‘HRH’, ‘Prince’ or ‘Princess’ *do not need a surname.* Some will use their family's territorial designation instead. e.g. William, Prince of Wales. Others will use “Mountbatten-Windsor”.. but it’s a choice. Most Brits don’t know this, and don’t care, it’s pointless pub quiz trivia.
    Plus, most young people in the U.K. doesn’t care about the royals. 70% of 18-35 have “no interest”in the monarchy. It’s only the *older* generations of Brits who care. 😅

    First, we delve into hunters and gatherers, navigate through Mesopotamia, touch on ancient Egypt, then immerse ourselves in Greek and Roman civilizations. Transitioning to the European Middle Ages, the Protestant Reformation, and the Age of Exploration, we eventually reach American history. From the Pilgrims and Puritans to the Salem Witch Trials, French and Indian War, American Revolution, and the complexities of the transatlantic slave trade. Moving through the 1800s, we cover the War of 1812, Mexican-American War, Missouri Compromise, and Civil War. Post-reconstruction, we explore the Gilded Era, Spanish-American War, WWI, the Great Depression, WWII, including the Holocaust, concluding with the complexities of the Cold War.

    I'm a European historian, and the royal family never had surnames, only the name of the house they belonged to, which were not surnames. Since 1917 however, the royal family has used the surname Windsor, which is the royal house they belong to. This is for the exception of the reigning monarch and those with the title of Prince/Princess, who don't actually have a surname to this day (although princes and princes have been forced to use the surname Mountbatten-Windsor for legal/bureaucratic reasons.)
    Queen Elizabeth II and her husband decided in 1952 that their direct descendants use Mountbatten-Windsor as their last name, but only do so when required for bureaucratic purposes. This means that anyone in the royal family who is not a direct descendant of Queen Elizabeth carries the surname Windsor.
    It is clear though that the reigning monarch himself/herself, does not have a surname and is never required to give any when signing Royal Decrees or Acts of Parliament.

    • @maurice2014
      @maurice2014 6 місяців тому +6

      So whatever the reason, they DO have surnames.
      Saying other wise is like saying you only have a last name because you need a social security card… ok you still have one though.
      The question wasn’t do they have a historical bloodlined “real” last name, it was “what’s their last name?”

      Only the reigning king/queen does not have one.

    • @bleromafia
      @bleromafia 6 місяців тому

      @@maurice2014 There is a distinction to be made between the reigning monarch, the royal family members with titles, and the members of the royal family without titles. There is not a single instance where the monarch needs or has used a surname for bureaucratic reasons.
      The thing is that the actual King does not need any documents that are similar to the social security card, since they are issued by the crown themself in the U.K. So the king doesn't need to have a passport, ID card, or driver's licence. So you won't find any document implying that the Reigning King has a surname.
