  • Islam Makhachev's coach, Javier Mendez, reveals how their team worked on the high kick that secured Makhachev's victory over Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 294. He elaborates on Khabib Nurmagomedov's involvement with the team, shares his thoughts on a potential fight and trash talk with Colby Covington, admits his hatred for Conor McGregor, and discusses UFC's P4P rankings while comparing Makhachev to Jon Jones.
00:00 - "Islam is the most well-rounded LW in the UFC history!"
00:29 - Javier demonstrates how they practiced the high-kick
02:01 - Khabib Nurmagomedov's involvement with the team today
03:09 - Volkanovski managed to turn Makhachev at the cage! Why it shouldn't be surprising?
04:59 - How will Makhachev look in the welterweight division?
05:29 - Colby Covington or Leon Edwards - who is a more dangerous opponent?
    06:55 - "I HATE CONOR!" Comparing McGregor's and Covington's trash talk
08:14 - What does Makhachev need to do to become a P4P leader in UFC history? And can he surpass Jon Jones?
09:34 - MMA Mount Rushmore per Javier Mendez

AMAZING interview on the spot! What a nice guy! Now it makes more sense to me why this group of people have conquered the MMA. When you have this coach at your corner, when the roles are so well distributed (khabib), when they understand the role of marketing (colby) compared to toxic marketing (connor), it explains a lot!

It was our plan. Well, step up to 170 and we can see how good Islam really is. I am sick of this crap, really. Islam is a big 155 guy. He pushes the limit. At 170 he won't be and that is huge. Can you imagine Islam fighting Colby? The stand-up would be a whole different level. How about Usman? Both Khabib and Islam are big 155 pounders and Khabib didn't go up. Why? Islam beat up a guy that is 5-6 inches shorter. Big whoop. Khabib didn't move up in weight because he would lose a big weapon. His size and Islam is even bigger.
Fighters should be weighed when they enter the octagon and have to be within 5 pounds of each other. Why have weight classes if you don't know what they weigh during the fight?
