Thank You for the dulcimer playing technic. I learned my first tune playing like that. Thanks to Momma. My hubby made a couple of cigar box guitars, proudly displayed💖
Very nice. i would like this, but with a pentatonic-scale fretboard instead (with the 5 'piano black keys' frets instead of the 7 diatonic ones), and with hide or sheet plastic over the top of the cigar box for more of that membrane sound that real banjos have.
Not sure if I can find a way to do that? Banjo heads are manufactured with a rim and the roundness is part of that ability to fabricate. I've tried it with a tambourine like head... very sad turnout
@@cirolopinto1097 with cigar box banjos, people often will take a green sprite bottle, cut it in half, and flatten it, so you have a big sheet of green plastic. then cut a square in it to the dimensions of your cigar box. then remove the top of the cigar box, and replace it with the plastic square. glue it or tac it, very easy. when you play it, it has that same 'membrane' sound to it that a real banjo has, but waaaay easier to construct
First of all... your first won't be your last... so don't worry. I find a shallow box with a broad face has great sound. Too deep and you can't get the face or the air chamber of the body to fully vibrate. Too small of a face doesn't give you much room to work. The top should be masonite, solid wood or plywood. If you go with cardboard lid, then cut it right off and varnish both sides... varnish dries fast. Buy the smallest container you can get, because it has a shelf life and won't set up well when it gets old.

Great job. You gave me alot of inspiration.
What a rustic beautiful instrument... amazing.
Thanks. Now I know more about these little boxy looking guitars.

You have a true sense of creativity
I love the sound and tone of Ciro's instruments!
What is the best box that I can buy to build my first cigar box banjo? I'd like to make a 5 string...
