We could not have asked for a better place than French concession in Shanghai, China to be lost without a plan. With it's bustling streets and trendy neighbourhoods, we had the most amazing time. Have you been to Shanghai? 🥰
That translate is right, it's duck poop favour. And please don't use "Franch concession", it reminds too much painful history, too much colonial colour. I'm sure you understand as British.
the Chicken is made of tofu skin
born and lived in Shanghai for 16 years, now live in Toronto for 20 years. Next Feb will visit Shanghai for a month. First time in five years. Saw lots of new things in your video. Thank you so much for the great video. In the beggining thought 41mins is too long. But at the end, wanted more.
No, duck shit is not a flavour, it's the name of the tea, there is no duck poop or its flavor in the drink.@@tackle9ax327 As for the "franch concession", it's just a name, but we don't prefer to say that, it is a little bit offensive for local, nowadays , this district has a nickname called "District of sycamore tree"(read as Wutong Qu), get its name from the tress beside the street, it is the most welcomed name.
It's one of my wishes to travel to and visit.
0:14 These dancers are the so-called "oppressed Tibetans" in Western media reports, wearing their own ethnic costumes and freely dancing in the square. Only by seeing it with your own eyes can you understand what the information cocoon brought about by media monopoly is.

western media lies are so profound and wide spread that many westerners are realizing they have been duped, and in many countries in EU people no longer trust their medias nor govts especially in the U$ and UK.

Thank you for your interest but China IS NOT AN IMMIGRATION country like USA or Canada, please go to America.
You guys are the best travel youtubers I've watched, with positive vibes and attitudes to everything, not judging or criticizing the country. I'll watch you guys just for the positivity, thank you!
That’s so sweet, appreciate it and thank you! ☺️
You guys have such a great attitude and so amicable.
What a Lovely couple. 🎉❤
Aww thank you for the kind words 🤩
Shanghai is definitely the most amazing big city in the whole world.
We’ve had a great time no doubt ☺️
In fact, the honking horns on the road are those electric bicycles that deliver food. They need to deliver on time, so they are less patient. It is difficult to manage the honking of those electric bicycles. Cars don't honk.
Mostly because the e-bike do not have well regulated, while there are some strict rules about the cars, they are required not to use the horn and should give way to pedestrians or they will get a ticket, but for e-bikes, they don't. However, it provide an affordable and convenient way of traffic, so the gov takes a complicated attitude toward them, because once you put strict rules on them, they will feel unfree and make some complaints, I think that's why the e-bikes are a little bit troublesome in the city.
These electric scooter should not be categorized as bike because they are silent, fast, do not follow the rule and dangerous. The horn should be replaced with bicycle bell so they do not make very annoying noise. They are the menace of the cities in China anywhere, the food delivery service should not make its workers and pedestrians die in road accident

Thanks for explaining ☺️
Next, you should go to Hong Kong for one to two weeks, and then re-enter mainland China to apply for a 144-hour visa again. This time, I recommend you to visit other cities such as Chongqing, Xi'an, and Chengdu.😁There are still many places in China waiting for you to visit and experience.

Shanghai, like other cities in China, is dangerous at night, because all kinds of delicious restaurants, barbecues, milk tea shops are open until late. Going out at night will spend lots of money of your pocket and make you gain a lot of weight at night😢.
😂😂😂😂😂

Great video! I had the privilege to be in Shanghai twice, and since the first time it became my favorite place in the World. I hope I have the chance one day to visit again and stay longer so I can explore and experience it more! Greetings from Venezuela!
Thanks for sharing! ☺️
The noodles shop you guys went in is halal restaurant, the lady is wearing a Muslim headscarf. The dancing in the park was Tibetan, they were wearing Tibetan clothing. They looked they were really enjoying themselves 😊
You two missed the top floor of that shopping mall. In China, top floor of a shopping mall is usually dedicated to restaurants.
Next time! ☺️
You two made the experience of your city tour so lively and amazing that it does feel like you are taking the audience along with you as you two walk and experience the sights and sounds of the city and also the tastes and smells of food everywhere. Thank you for taking the time to take us inside that beautiful mall. I love your positive energy and all over make us feel good vibes about China.

Now in many cities in China like Shenzhen, Wuhan, Beijing, including Shanghai, there are lots of self-driving taxis you can book which I haven't seen in Europe (called 萝卜快跑), maybe you can have a try for transportation and also for fun (not sure if you need a Chinese phone number to register it). It's very cheap (about $0.5 for 10km).@@sunkissedbucketlist
Media isn’t hate about China..
It’s called jealousy
its not just media. Its also the "group ppl of government".
I think it's both! 😬

12:00 This is a completely normal thing to see in China 🤣 you can go to any park in China in the afternoon and there will be older people playing music or dancing. That's how they stay so fit and active! Some of them will be over 70 years old and still go to the park everyday to exercise.
25:10 also, I used to walk down this street every week to go to my Chinese classes 😁 People's Square metro station.
This one is special, they are dancing a Tibetan dance called Guozhuang
That’s brilliant, we love it 😊
Shanghai is such an eye-opening city, I am shocked by your video, thank you!
Shanghai has been incredible 🥰☺️
The appetizer side dish that you thought might be chicken is actually bean curd. It's also called dried bean curd sticks or dried yuba. I'm loving your content!
yes, the shop proprietor and the head-scarfed lady are Muslim Uygur from Xinjiang. Also, the dancers in the park are Tibetans wearing their traditional attire.
@@kengsenchong4010 they are hui Muslim
We would love to go back to this restaurant because the food was incredibly delicious 🥰🥰
腐竹
Shanghai 's population is bigger than Australia' s population, but it seems Shanghai did a great job in urban planning. It is not very crowded.
12:12 Yo, those grandma and grandpa are from Xizang, which is Tibet. They are Tibetan ethnic, wear traditional Tibetan clothing, and do a Tibet-style dance with the Tibetan song. Once again. After the last video, Xinjiang food (chicken noodles and nang). Another truth broke the lie of Western media and government.😅
Oh, 12:50 The uncle/grandpa wears black clothes in the traditional red coat. These words 扎西德勒 in simplified Chinese with Tibetan characters under it( It means Hello or Bless you) on the clothes. Western media and government have been constantly telling you guys and the whole world that the Chinese government(CPC) bans Tibetan characters and culture. LOl...what a lovely moment! The truth is just showing in front of your eyes.
16:34 You guys went to a Muslim restaurant. The manager was talking in Uighur to the chef to make the order for you (I am not sure how to call the language, but it is their local language or dialect. It may different with Arabic). They have 清真 ( Muslim/Halal ) marks on the outside advertising board (with Arabic) and inside the menu board (which means no pork in any food source). I love their traditional beef noodle. The side cold dish is cucumber and bean curd, it is also an excellent cold dish. Another truth. The waiter girl is wearing a white headscarf. It is free to believe in religion in China.
That is why Westerners should not talk nonsense without seeing the truth with their eyes in China.
That was insightful thank you for sharing that with us ☺️
that restaurant, the lady is a hui Muslim, they are not uighurs, hui Muslims are also one of big muslim community in china and hui muslims speak mandarin
@@sunkissedbucketlist You see that China has a large number of electric vehicles because more than 20 years ago, China joined the International Green Plan, which was led by countries around the world. Then, China started planting trees, closing polluting factories, developing green energy, breaking through battery technology, and breaking through electric vehicle technology. Over 20 years later, China transformed a desert and developed the world's greenest industries, including electronic payments and business processing. However, Western countries have done nothing and even resisted the promotion of green energy,They angered the financiers for the sake of voting and not causing any change. Their way of solving their mistakes is to suppress the right people and start slandering China.
@@sunkissedbucketlist Even in rural areas of China,if you use Chinese software, there are many things you can do without going out. Ordering takeout and daily necessities will be delivered to your doorstep within 30 minutes, and the same goes for purchasing ingredients and vegetables. Clothes, shoes, and even furniture, appliances, and cars can be ordered online. In almost all regions of China, they can be delivered to your doorstep within 48 hours at the latest and installed for free. So shopping is just for a little activity, and there are very few people on the way.

For Western countries, the biggest competitor is the biggest enemy.
16:40 That is Tofu skin, you get a layer of dry tofu skin after you cool down boiled soymilk. similar to milk.
Ahh thanks for explaining ☺️
16:34 it’s sort of tofu product. Actually it’s the dried “skin” from the top of soy milk, like the one from milk as well.
So good 😊
Wow the streets look very clean.
From what I've seen from other china vlogs it looks like the elders in china are either dancing on the streets/parks, playing mahjong, swimming in river, exercising, or playing music... 🥰
I've seen some video footage of Shanghai before... so the highlight / enjoyment was listening to your commentary and seeing both of your expressions / smiles. Thank for sharing your journey with us! cheers, from Canada.
Glad you enjoyed it! ☺️
I totally understand why you were so confused by the name of that milk tea.
If you translate "鸭屎香" into English, it will be "the flagrance of duck feces". But it's actually a kind of tea with a unique smell that's totally unrelated to any kind of excrement. It gets its notorious name because it grows in a kind of yellow soil that looks a lot like duck shit.
People might have found the contrast of its good smell and the desgusting look of soil that grows it really fascinating so they decided make it into a big selling point.
That is very smart haha yet very delicious 🥰
yes is actually a kind of Chinese oolong tea. It tastes more like honeysuckle.Smells like honey.@@sunkissedbucketlist
The tea real name is 银花香。凤凰单枞有很多品种,真正的凤凰单枞像香水一样好喝香甜。有机会可以试试真正的茶,而不是奶茶。那味道会让你终身难忘。欢迎来到中国。@@sunkissedbucketlist
@@sunkissedbucketlist the other story i heard when i was in shanghai was that the farmer naming it called it duck sht so people wouldn't steal the leaves. anyways fun part of getting the drinks were the cartoon ducks on the packaging haha
that’s Tibetan dance, people wear their traditional Tibetan cloths❤
duck poo tea is a kind of fine Oolong Tea. quite expensive actually, and very great taste and smell, no one really knows how it got the name, but the tea leave and tea trees have nothing to do with duck or duck poop
and Shanghai is just 1 of many cities in China... now imagine China....that is crazy!!!!

I believe that the "chicken" thing you guys were puzzling was actually tofu skin, a by-product of making soy milk or tofu. You can try your luck to get this stuff in stores in Chinatowns. BTW, this thing needs to be soaked for a few hours to get soft again, cut into whatever size, boil them for 60 seconds, then do whatever you like to them.
shanghai is on another level ! wow
Everyone there is so well dressed. What a beautiful country. Thanks for sharing.

I think you can go to Nanjing, the capital of Jiangsu province and Hangzhou, the capital of Zhejiang province. You can take the high-speed rail to these places. It won't take long. the dish you had is not chicken, it is tofu.
That sounds cool 😊
After experiencing the city in China, I recommend you to explore these places: Yangshuo Guilin, Zhangjiajie, Aba in west Sichuan, Yunnan Dali, Xinjiang and Tibet🎉
Thank you for the suggestions 🥰

The colorful Tibetan park dance looks magnificent!!
Delicious drinks, foods, and the shopping mall was huge.
beautiful video, by far now haters that saying it's a ccp propaganda or being paid for are getting lesser due to more youtubers showing the real stuff in China.
Even if one don't know a single thing about China, a normal person with sone sense of judgement and common sense would know that the western propaganda cannot be believed. If i caught them lying just one time, i would not believe a single thing they say, let alone it is so easy to catch them lying red handed.

In Shanghai, you should try soup dumplings and Fried Pork Buns, those are signature local food. By chance that the restaurants that you have been showing are Muslim restaurants, they serve food from China's Northwestern region, they are pretty good as well, but Shanghai is not known for those.
We don’t eat pork so there’s a few bit we won’t be trying ☺️

I’ve loved watching you guys exploring my new home the last few days. Glad you made it to my neighbourhood, Xuhui (French concession). It really is a beautiful place!
We had so much fun there 🥳
The Tibetans dancing in park made me so happy.
16:20 That's 腐竹, according to google, it can be translated to yuba, or dried dried bean curd sticks
Nanjing has most of that Giant Phoenix trees that are lining the roads, forming a canopy in the Spring. Come back to China during spring time and visit those cities around Shanghai, such as Hangzhou, Suzhou, Nanjing, Wuxi, Wuzhen et. they have more culture, history and nature than Shanghai.
To further explore Shanghai, I sincerely recommend West Nanjing Road (differ from the east Nanjing road you have visited for several days) where you can see the biggest Starbucks in the world (maybe the second biggest now) and many other interesting shops there. In addition to the West Nanjing Road, I will strongly recommend the New World of Shanghai where you will see the mixture of old school buildings with modern shops. There are also quite many bars and restaurants there, you can feel a totally different vibe of Shanghai.
Thanks for the tips ☺️
My Lady Libby.. love you're smile, thanks for the video!!

"duck shit" is a kind of tea, It is because this tea was very expensive and precious, the merchant do not want be robbed when they are carrying them, so they tell others they carrying "duck shit"(I don't believe the thief will believe this statement), but anyway, it has its name. I would translate it as "Golden Hot milk tea" and use the "duck shit tea" as the ingredients. Hope this will help you to understand this word. To be honest, I was shock by this name too, and I once thought it was something like 'cat shit coffee' hahaha, but it is just a name. If you are still in Shanghai, try Lele Cha, and Hey tea, they are more popular with young people there.
Ahhh that’s such a great story ☺️

The French concession is the place where I think you even SHOULD get lost, bc you just look at all the shops, boutiques, cafés and restaurants rather than the street names. Thanks for showing us Shanghai, as Shanghainese, I haven't seen lots of those things and places. Btw, notice everywhere beautiful malls are quiet and not many people? this is because most people get used to online shopping, like Tao Bao and Pin Duo Duo, it's killing the malls, yes, and things online are so much cheaper and wider range than actual stores. Unfortunately, that's the reality, but I still like malls, and Shanghai has the best malls in the world, safe and clean as well.
Start taxing the hell out of those giant e-commerce you mentioned. In theory, having goods sent to your door should be more expensive than you going out to buy it yourself because you have to pay the delivery service. Any country that allows its giant e-commerce run out of control will kill its retail businesses, in the end it will kill the economy. People go to mall to eat these days, other businesses will die, this is happening worldwide, I am surprised China did not do anything about it.

“Duck Shit Fragrance” (鸭屎香)is the name of a kind of tea. There is a legend that a tea farmer brought back a kind of tea from another mountain and planted it in the soil. The soil in the tea farmer's hometown was as yellow as duck shit so it got the name Duck Shit Soil. He felt that this tea he brought back was too fragrant for fear that it would be stolen by other tea farmers, so he scandalised the name of this tea and called it Duck Shit Fragrance.

"Duck Shit Fragrance" is a type of Oolong tea cultivated in soil commonly referred to as "duck excrement soil." In ancient times, tea farmers were concerned about theft of these exceptionally aromatic tea bushes, fearing that years of hard work would be ruined. Therefore, they whimsically named the tea and the bushes "鸭屎香" (duck excrement fragrance) to deter potential thieves from coveting this precious tea. 16:30 You're eating "fu zhu" (a type of soy product similar to tofu). China boasts a wide variety of dishes made from soy products, much like tofu, and they are all delicious!
