The Vbow was a noticeable game changer. I camped that thing for about 2 weeks straight. I kept the ToD, and when I couldn't be there because of work, I had a LS mate camp it for me to keep the time (we did this for each other). I think I killed it 4 times before it finally dropped. Idk if the times have changed, but I remember it being a 22-24 hour respawn back then.
Used to make quick work of Sewer Syrup with a good Ninja running the elemental wheel on him backed up by a Black mage chasing the elemental wheel. Ahhh the coordination.
omg I havent play ffxi in years. when I did NM hunting was by far my favorite thing to do. whether I was going magic or melee, if there was a item out there that could give me an edge from an NM drop I'd find it. Spiny Spipi for a Mist Silk Cape. Kagero the sheep nm for my first Great Katana. LEAPING LIZZY! I camped that guy for 2 weeks straight. competition was furious back then. Stray Mary for the horn (great money maker for me). Empress Hairpin from Dunes nm. boots and gloves from yagudo nms in that castle O. oh man I wanna cry now. I want to go back so bad.
Yes!!! I loved having all those unique pieces of gear that made a job that much better. It felt great showing up to events or parties knowing that I was as awesome as I could be for that level range (or close lol)
Hahah yeah. I remember the non-EX version were Eurytos' Bow and Cross-counter. The bow was even considered as the best bow a RNG can get when I started FFXI in 2004. I thought I could farm the bow then since SE put the Rare/EX version on the NM. Oh boy, how naive I was. Not only camping them had even more competition (cue on those farmer that comes with pet), the original Eurytos' Bows price were also skyrocketed to nearly 300% mark from the original.
Huntin 4 Games i got lucky really, took over camp for a friend as he logged out and it popped. I did need it..level 55 rng u need this or ebow to not be gimp
He wouldn't of been such a pain if he didn't only spawn in wind weather..in a desert. I remember having to leave a mule in Rabao to check the weather for Cape Terrigan, so you weren't constantly staring at the little weather dot praying for it to go green.
I was lucky enough to get gae bolg from Vouivre in ifrit's cauldron I still remember that fight it was me a 65drg/whm as main healer my 75mnk/nin friend and a linkshell mate that was 75thf/rng before the big gear buffs but man was I so happy to see that item drop
Not in the 60 range, but have fond memories of Tarasque, make some money solo and with friends. Kreutzet even though he never dropped the dagger for me... (with friend or solo with npc fellow that I had to kill to refill her mp pool xD thrust wasn't a thing :P) Citipati that actually never pop for me, yea fond memories xD Eba in Phomiuna Aqueducts were she wiped twice our team while farming subligar for Brygid quest, but we got our revenge once ! (while farming moar subligar xD) Hakutaku, did many time but once was right after the "Accomplice/Collaborator" addition to Thief job abilities and I end up tanking it as a THF without hate issue when our tank died xD So damn much memories...
Hadn't ever heard of Tarasque! Just looked him up, was the money maker the scythe or the leather pieces? Kreutzet I went 1/1 on ;) never went back. Almost died a bunch of times though, MP was a huuuge problem with that fight. Yeah those stories about the other NMs were what made FFXI so amazing. Because of all the difficulty and just time investment, these moments stick with you waay after having finished playing the game lol. So cool
RNGs NEEDED V-bow. It was the best bow in the game for a long time. Even in the 75 cap content V-Bow was 2nd to only Relic Bow. So envious you actually got it. I could never get the drop and eventually resorted to buying gil from RMTs and then buying the bow lol

You had mentioned in a previous video that you are dabbling in newer content sometimes. I think some of these NM videos could be tied into the newer unity fights that are mostly harder versions of a lot of these NMs on your lists. Would still maintain nostalgia and also show what present day vana'diel experiences are like. Just my random thoughts. Love the series.
This would be pretty cool! I'll definitely look into that. A lot of the harder NMs I really want to take down to get some of my favorite gear...again haha. Some I'm not sure I can take on yet ;) I'l have to figure that out

I hope Kreutzet makes it, that sirocco kukri was too good to ever pass up. That dagger combined with Blau dolch and full haste setup at 75 was great.
