Donte, was sitting in the background in the first clip, he and Rose are the owners of the Golden Tiger Bar. Richie Mac, is the top Black UA-camr in Thailand. He’s definitely brought a ton of exposure to Black American through his channel and messaging to Zoom to Thailand.
Donte is cool people for sure but I haven’t made it to his bar yet. Richie Mac cracks me up. Kind of makes me want to put more comedy in my videos… But I don’t think I’m that funny. 😂
Great job, Pete! I have been involved in charities in my US days for decades and recently I've been toying with what I can do in my Chiang Mai region. Seeing your video has inspired me to think less and do more. I'm interested in how the group progresses and look forward to hearing more.
I’m don’t know how much I’ll talk about it on my channel but I’ll definitely be promoting the foundation’s channel when we decide to put it out. Im sure I’ll talk about it some though. The woman’s group we went to on Friday was very impressive. I
Pete: Skip in Framingham MA. Thanks for doing this log and your directness, humanity, and openness. Great Vlog and just wanted to tell you that two of the men in your vid I know; Allan (my brother) and DC our life-long friend from Germantown, Mt Airy Philly where we grew up! Hope to see you when I get there. best to you. HH
Great work Pete you truly are a great person and this is a heart warming video. I have no doubt that you all will do great things for the people of Thailand
PETE! This is wonderful! I think you just found your purpose❤️👏🏻. Now you gotta take a master class on YouTubing 🤣🤣. I’m thrilled to hear about this organization! I’m planning slow travel for my retirement(3 mos or so at each place)and plan to connect with charities along the way. I’ve been so very sad about Thailand because my understanding of volunteering as an expat seemed impossible. I’m thrilled about this organization!! Please keep us updated on the legal stuff. I’m so happy!😁👏🏻👊🏼
Great initiative on so many levels Pete. The most important helping the local communities and also giving purpose to a group of expats, which will give a whole new purpose to living in and around Pattaya.
I've thought quite a bit about how I could be .. a productive member of whatever Thai community I decide to retire in. This video will serve as a great resource. Thanks Pete .. and Shy .. and the org! I do have two concerns, if I may. One, is this organization religiously based in any way? Thailand is a nation of inclusion, so while absolutely being able to practice whatever your beliefs may be, if we "outsiders" want the Thai people to be accepting of us, we should be respectful and accepting of their own (Buddhist) beliefs and not push our own on them. This would also seem limiting, if acceptance and inclusion are part of the goals, for people like me, who are not believers. The aim, I hope, is purely for the assistance of poorer Thai communities, and not some underlying belief system. And two, I do hope the org will be cognizant, aware, of needs and issues, again .. from the Thai perspective. Race can be (and has been in our history) such an aggressive and even violent issue in America (I'm an American), where the Thais approach it with much less aggression. The opposite can sometimes even be true. Example, where a white or black father may have left a child behind, that child can and will often be seen as more beautiful than kids with two Thai parents. Again, I'm just trying to express the need to approach things NOT with a view from our own aggressive American upbringing, but to be more aware of the peaceful nature of the Thai mindset and way of life. Appreciate the work! Peace to all.
Good questions. The foundation is 100% secular but there is a strong Christian presence in the leadership team. It will always be open to anyone and will not be doing any missionary work. The primary agenda is just to provide for those in need. We are looking at providing education services at some point but those would be things like money management and starting a business. That kind of stuff is who knows how far down the line… for this year I think we’ll only be collecting and donating to established organizations that are doing the actual work. And yes, we are being as conscientious as we can be about cultural awareness and respect. We will be looking to have Thai consultation within the organization at some point to help guide us. 🙏🏼
Hey Pete, I agree, this is exactly what you are meant to be doing here in Thailand. We all have something different to offer this World and together we can make a difference. I recently saw a post from a meeting the organization held (the venue page) and I was wondering how (and if) I could get involved. Great work!
Thank you 🙏🏼 The foundation welcomes anyone with good intent and love in their heart. Both a newsletter and an email list are the works but for now you can reach out to me personally. I have an email address listed listed in the video description.
Great to see you involved in such a wonderful cause..i know you'll be a great asset to the foundation..dont forget to find time for tacos and beer with your cali crew 😂
Great story. I share that feeling about "drive." Been running a non-profit with a team of people for 6 years now in San Pedro to feed the unhoused and teach sustainability and gardening to everyone. You are either part of the solution or a witness to the decline. At one point in my life all my friends I was spending time with were black. Found out I'm about 5% Senegalese from the DNA sample I gave up and 2% Jewish. It's not color or race, it's the shared positive mindset.
That’s awesome Ed! I did not expect this feeling at all when I first donated to the cause. Just planned to kick in some cash every month and then do a little talking about it here. While part of the drive is undeniably giving back to the country and helping those in need, another strong motivator is helping this group of amazing people give back. It’s like a double decker sandwich of love.
That's pretty awesome Pete that'll definitely occupy some time and keep you busy for a while being a skateboarder I've always given back to the kids whenever I could the little kids in Tijuana bring him a skateboard when we went down to the park or what have you they always want something I hope to be able to do something like this when I'm over there and settle down and I hope my channel can help create something like this it's pretty awesome what you're doing
It’s taught me that it’s really not that hard to give back. I know you’ve got a big heart and I remember all the skate gear your brought out for that kid on your last visit. Keep stepping ahead my friend 🙏🏼
Chocolate man is living in a van these days unfortunately lol Im black and have been wanting to live in south east Asia for almost 10 years now but I cant say that I identify as a passport bro or anything like that. Though, i will admit that their content is fun to watch. Cant wait to see what you guys do to help the Thai people good luck :)
I saw that about Chocolate Man but I haven’t been keeping up with him and don’t know the story behind all of that. A friend said that he’s planning to come back here. Many thanks for your comment as well wishes as always. 🙏🏼
Very cool! I think that Thailand is the perfect place for cross-cultural support and growth, and I feel there's a lot of good things coming. Thailand has a long history of integrating other cultures into its society and those of us from Western countries have a lot to offer, esp. those who've adopted it as their home.
It is an amazing place and it’s great seeing what is happening here, not only with the foundation but with the work and progress done by many others. 🙏🏼
This is a beautiful story. Thailand is becoming what the American Experiment should have become. Thailand is beautiful with ex-pats because ghetto and trailer trash are not accepted and if ever that attitude does grow in the Kingdom, then they will be not so politely escorted out

As A Black Person That Just Moved To Thailand, I Really Love It Here But I Rarely See Any Where I’m At. Only Downtown.
Hey there, if you’re interested, send me an email (address is in the description) and I’ll let you know about some weekly meetups.

Very interesting episode Pete. Philanthropy is truly honorable and needed here in Thailand. Good on ya! Wish you all the best. Peace and Love
💯 there are so many people here that need help. ✌🏼❤️🙏🏼🇹🇭
Outstanding work, Pete! It's a pleasure meeting you and working with you to do great things in Thailand 🇹🇭
It’s all about giving back 🙏🏼❤️🇹🇭
This story was confirmation for me
"I need to get away from where im at and do something of this magnitude " this story was everything.
Thanks Pete
Wow, thank you very much 🙏🏼❤️

What an awesome group of people Pete! Thank you for sharing this!!!
They really are and that little bit of video from that first meeting barely scratches the surface of the love and inspiration within the group.

Volunteering definitely isn’t out of the question here but it’s very new territory for me. I should know a lot more in the the upcoming weeks.
@@peteonretreat2023 I’m thrilled!😃👏🏻👏🏻
Good for you. Everyone needs to have a purpose in their life. What better purpose than to help others in need!
Absolutely. This world will always have people who need help and I believe it’s our job as human beings and members of society to do just that.
Great initiative on so many levels Pete. The most important helping the local communities and also giving purpose to a group of expats, which will give a whole new purpose to living in and around Pattaya.
Absolutely 💯
It’s a beautiful thing on many levels.
Good for you Pete. It’s all about gratitude my friend! Keep up the good work.

You can easily judge the character of a man by how he treats those who can do nothing for him
Very true 👍🏼
Just be aware that it might not Be as it appears - have an open mind but protect your funds brother / don’t go in deep
No worries there. The only funds I provide are a monthly donation of about $30. The books are available for me to see at anytime.
