Wish I could like this twice; adore Jim Varney, this is possibly my favorite Christmas movie… top 5 for sure. So glad to see Ernest getting some love!

Fun Fact: The one of two highest rated Ernest (Jim Varney) movies alongside Ernest Scared Stupid (1991).
Slytherin Shenanigans Fact: Ernest's (Jim Varney) pickup full of snakes has a sign that reads "Apopka Snakes" on it. Executive producer Joseph Akerman went to high school in Apopka, FL, a city north of Orlando, where most filming was done.
Location Location Fact: The "Orlando Children's Museum" featured in this movie was actually the Orlando Science Center, which has since moved to a new location. The building is now used for city's annual Shakespeare Festival and other theater performances.
Disney Intervention Fact: In the first draft of the film, Ernest (Jim Varney) was going to take over the role of Santa. Though director John R. Cherry III liked the idea, Disney balked at it. Disney had them rewrite the story to have Ernest helping Santa (Douglas Seale) find the next guy in succession. On a personal note, I think this was the right call.
Fun Fact: In the Ernest movies and he talks to "Vern", it was a reference to Jim Varney's (Ernest) best friend in real life, country music singer Vern Gosdin.
This is one of my long-time go-to “gotta get into the Christmas spirit quick!” films. So happy you guys are checking it out!

The air brakes joke always made me laugh. It always has ever since it was done way back in that old Bugs Bunny cartoon that featured the Gremlin.
Love this movie and Ernest Goes To Camp. R.I.P. Jim Varney. He's from my home state of Kentucky. He was a trained actor and could play any character.
Another reactor called Ernest the "redneck Pee-Wee Herman" and that's honestly the best description of him and your comments on both of them completely validate that thought. I love it.
I grew up 45 minutes fromo Orlando, so this was a staple christmas movie. We loved the idea of getting snow for Christmas. Also, In my opinion this is has the sweetest most adorable Santa of any Santa movie.
Probably the best Santa put to film next to the actor on Miracle on 34th St.
My dad and I used to watch all the Ernest movies (He even had a show when I was a kid) he always cracked up at the part with the snake handler. Sadly my father passed away but these always bring back fond movie watching memories.

Oh, this definitely was in theaters. I know cause I got to see it there as a kid when it came out. that end section on the sleigh esp was amazing to experience on the big screen.
This is by far, my favorite christmas film. I love Ernest in general, but this was the top for me. also Nostalgia Critic summed it up well by saying this had the most adorable Santa ever put to film. Douglas Seale played him so well.

I always had a theater party for my birthday...Santa Clause the Movie, Land Before Time, and Ernest saves Christmas...so it was definitely at the theaters. That tradition ended with my 10 th birthday at Dances with Wolves😂😂

Well, I didn't watch this growing up (although there are many who would point out that I haven't grown up) but I did watch it innumerable times on Laser Disk. You know, the 12 inch diameter predecessor to DVDs. Anyway, it seems to me that what makes this Ernest movie different (and better) from all of the others is that Ernest is NOT the central character. And I dearly love the Christmas music in the opening credits.

Earnest started out in comerchials then had a very short tv show the franchise starts with saves christmas then he goes to camp
