For some reason, this ending feels so sad. Everyone in the beginning is greeting each other, happy, with family. And Aang is inside waiting to be honoured, 100 years away from his family, people and friends. Despite having made new friends, it can't help but imagine the empty feeling he has while sitting there, inside.
It is a very bittersweet ending. Aang is happy that the war is over, but is sad that his people weren’t among the survivors. The war is over but the loss everyone suffered is still there. He is celebrating but yet still grieving the loss of his people.
That's interesting, because if I remember correctly, the the episode "The Guru" references that exact matter, where said guru tells Aang that the Air Nomads may have been gone, their love for him can never truly go away, and if anything, it's been reborn in the form of the new bonds he's forged with Katara, Sokka, Toph, and even Zuko.
I think this after-war moment is the moment in which Aang will really feel the loss of his people and friends, because when the war was going he had somewhere else to put his mind and have something to focus and couldn't grieve 100%. Now is different though.
I can still remember when this aired. I was a kid at home during school holidays. Avatar was running a marathon of the entire last season. I had no idea what I was about to watch. Makes me so emotional that Aang and Katara hugged first. It really goes to show that their bond is built on true, unwavering friendship, as all romantic relationships should be.
Because it's later revealed that that interrogation turned out to be fruitless- Ozai never fessed up to anything. It took Zuko another year or two to find his mother.
Fun fact, the show started with the word "its" from Sokka & ended with the word "perfect" from Toph, as you can see here. And it is indeed a perfect series
I think Aang was definitely thinking about his old friends at 5:00 bittersweet as he misses them but now has found people that love him as well. Beautiful ending.
This scene reminds me of Dom leaving his best friend Brian to live happily with his sister Mia as family and Brian immediately following Dom after realizing Dom had secretly left without saying goodbye to him.
The war ends as it started, and so things come full circle. When it started, the fire lord and the avatar went from best friends to enemies. It's the smile Aang has as the gang critiques Sokka's painting that does it for me; I instantly tear up. It's peaceful, yet melancholy. He's glad to see his friends safe and bonding with one another after they all nearly lost their lives. But I'm sure he's feeling some saddness because as he watches this last display of innocence, he knows that all of their childhoods are finally over. They are going to need to become stronger than they've ever needed to be to piece the world back together.
2:50 There's so much to love in this ending, but this scene in particular of the current Avatar and the current Firelord who is also the great-grandson of the previous Avatar standing together and being friends just got me choked up.

Avatar Aang is, in my opinion, the best cartoon series that I have watched in my entire life. Even after more than 15 years since its end in 2008, I still have those beautiful feelings in my heart, and I still have those great judgments and sermons in my mind, especially from Uncle and General Aero and the rest of the characters, and I still have them. Millions of people, as I see it, that era was the most beautiful, and this production has not yet come more beautiful than it. Learn to be like smooth water and clean air, to be a rock in difficulties, and to be sometimes like fire that devours everything with its seriousness; I was hoping for another artwork about the avatar Aang in his youth and not "Korra", and this I think is what the audience was missing.

It’s the first time Aang’s theme is resolved properly. Not when he defeats the fire lord, but when he sees how he’s helped unite the people and end suffering 😢
"Well I think you all look perfect" is a *perfect* final line to this amazing series. Coming from the one blind person who loves all of them for their personalities.
I kinda like it like that. His expression of contentment while looking at all his friends before walking outside speaks louder than any words he could have said
I love Zuko, all his suffering, all the pain he went through, when destiny was telling him that he hadnt any value, and now thanks to his uncle, his experiences in the exile, is here, receiving the biggest achievement a firebender can get.
I always felt bad on how Aang and Zuko didn’t have more screen time together knowing that they were super close friends based on Legend of Korra. I always wished they would make special episodes of their bond together🥹🫶🏻
It's how they both warmed in closer and deepened the kiss😭🥰..they love each other so much! I'm so happy hearing there's finally going to be an animated movie in continuation to this, about their adulthood, can't wait!🤭 I've missed the gaang!!
I grew up watching this show and I still rewatch it all over from time to time (same with Korra). Seeing Aang with Katarra as the music sets in just always warms my heart and gives me temporary peace
The soundtrack and this show holds a special place in my heart, I shared it with 2 special friends who are no longer together anymore. I can’t help it, but almost cry every time I watch it or hear the music. I will never forget the moments showing them avatar for the first time and seeing them enjoy it as much as I did, happier times back then.
I've rewatched this show, every year, over and over again for the past 10 years. And yet this ending somehow manages to always pull a tear from my eye. Avatar: the last airbender still remains and will always be; the greatest american animated show ever made.
Anyone else wish there was a series that bridged the gap between the end of ATLA and the beginning of TLOK? I certainly do, and I don't mean in comic book form.
Zuko was right. Ozai banishing him was the best thing he could’ve done for him. It helped him open his eyes and see the world. It also helped him teach him what’s right and wrong and find out what he really wanted in life
Part of what makes this show so incredible is this ending right here. So many great shows fail to deliver a satisfying ending, but Avatar was truly top notch all throughout aside from a mildly slow first season. One of the best shows ever made hands down.
After so many years of watching shows that I'd followed for multiple seasons having disapointing endings, I have to come back occasionally and remember how emotionally fulfilling this conclusion was. ❤️

Perhaps Momo?
Think it was Sokka
Most likely Sokka with his goofy ahh laugh lol
1:45 gives me chills every time
It’s the first time Aang’s theme is resolved properly. Not when he defeats the fire lord, but when he sees how he’s helped unite the people and end suffering 😢
"Well I think you all look perfect" is a *perfect* final line to this amazing series. Coming from the one blind person who loves all of them for their personalities.
Do you realize how Aang doesn’t talk after he talks to zuko
I kinda like it like that. His expression of contentment while looking at all his friends before walking outside speaks louder than any words he could have said
@@ShadowForce44 I’m not saying it’s a bad thing I’m just surprised he didn’t.
@@KirbyStarAnimation oh yea for sure 👍
This show is special. Thank you to everyone who made it possible
one of the greatest and timeless pieces of media ever created. bless up
I wish Avatar Ruko would’ve appeared in this ending somehow. He was basically like a father to Aang.
Gyatso was one too, actually the necklace is a direct reference to him.
I'm so happy hearing there's finally going to be an animated movie in continuation to this, about their adulthood, can't wait!🤭
I've missed the gaang!!
zukos speech before being crowned is incredible especially when you really consider just how much suffering took place in those 100 years
Favourite tv show of all time. 20 yrs of age and the ending still gets me tearbending a little
I grew up watching this show and I still rewatch it all over from time to time (same with Korra). Seeing Aang with Katarra as the music sets in just always warms my heart and gives me temporary peace
The final scene of friends and foes now sitting around drinking tea is so pure
We really did have the best cartoons back then how I miss my childhood
Nice, they opened the comments!! I hate how almost every comment section is blocked...
Ikr
same man dont get why they do that i really wanna read more.
Imagine watching this in a movie theatre, instead of a small screen
This ending always gets me every time, a perfect ending to a perfect show
Man this ending always gets me 😭
Perfect, perfect, PERFECT ENDING TO THIS SHOW!! Still amazes me!
Cartoons were sooo much better and impactful compared to cartoons today
You got that right!
Now modern cartoons are just leaning to the south park joke.
05:34 is when Aang should have repeated his statement "Baby, you're my forever girl!!!!"
15 anniversary of the final episode of Avatar the Last Airbender!
14 and 16 year olds sharing a kiss and the world cheered from their living rooms.
Their love is so PURE🥺✨
*113 year old and 15 year old you mean
5:20 - "How beautiful she is! How very much I love her! How very, very *strange* this has all turned out to be."
5:37 The Kiss you’ve all been waiting for!!
Toph tottaly cracked a blind joke at the last moment of dialog 😂 She’s so savage
4:38 Sokka made Zuko look like Brock! 😂
Uncle Iroh looks like Santa Clause and Appa looks like a pig xD
I've rewatched this show, every year, over and over again for the past 10 years. And yet this ending somehow manages to always pull a tear from my eye.
Avatar: the last airbender still remains and will always be; the greatest american animated show ever made.
Anyone else wish there was a series that bridged the gap between the end of ATLA and the beginning of TLOK? I certainly do, and I don't mean in comic book form.
ME SAME x 1 Milion
The comics. If you have amazon kindle app you can buy them or listen to an audio book on yt
Beautiful Ending with a heartwarming kiss
I've seen this ending several times it gets me emotional every time.
Zuko was right. Ozai banishing him was the best thing he could’ve done for him. It helped him open his eyes and see the world. It also helped him teach him what’s right and wrong and find out what he really wanted in life
4:56 Sokka's laugh is hilarious 😂
Part of what makes this show so incredible is this ending right here. So many great shows fail to deliver a satisfying ending, but Avatar was truly top notch all throughout aside from a mildly slow first season. One of the best shows ever made hands down.
After so many years of watching shows that I'd followed for multiple seasons having disapointing endings, I have to come back occasionally and remember how emotionally fulfilling this conclusion was. ❤️
This show really set the standard for every show. This show holds a special part in my heart
It's been so long since i watched the entire story of avatar aang and this ending always makes me feel like crying because it's the last time we see aang and team avatar. 😢❤
