Those new hips of yours really give a good rotation! 😉 Nice video and neat educational toy.

thanks Randy, it was actually the knees that were replaced and it was life changing for me. Before I had them done I found walking, standing, even sitting to be painful and had to stop after short walks. Now it's pain free and complete movement. I am very thankful for it.

@@YeanyScience So glad to hear the success! I imagine it was a painful 6 months that followed. I guess you knew I just meant your particular character that goes around the lever toy with ease.

I bet the kids in that school are always so happy when they see they have been assigned to your class! I remember the ones like that at my school, you either got evil Ms Dinkel or awesome Mr Moe for science.

A beauty, simple but very entertaining.

Great video, Professor Bruce Yeany! It made me think about how the movement of a gymnast resembles that of an acrobat toy. The gymnast can actively solve the movement by adjusting their body, but if they don't do it correctly, their behavior becomes passive, like the toy that follows a predetermined movement without adaptation. Has anyone else noticed this relationship between control and lack of control in other physical systems?

Superb video, Homemade Science with Bruce Yeany. Looking forward to seeing your next upload from you. I smashed that thumbs up button on your content. Keep up the great work! I'm intrigued by your approach to integrating historical figures into toy designs. What challenges do you think arise when balancing educational value with playability in such projects?

thanks for the comment, I find the biggest challenge in projects is time. Our state like any other has standards and a certain amount of concepts that we are expected to cover. Quite often just when I have students interest in a concept or an activity and we want to delve into it deeper, I need to move on to other topics that I was required to cover.

What has been the oldest version of this toy ever found?

good question, I haven't been able to find a clear answer to that since these toys were hand crafted. I have seen a number of these on sites such as Ebay with listings for toys from the early 1900's. I plan on getting a few that I like and am collecting ideas for a future series of these.
