Do you have your columns up already? They need to be up so that you can get a measurement between them. In a perfect world, they should all be the same measurement but you need to measure between each set of columns and write that measurement on the column with your soapstone or paint pen. Once you know those measurements, you can watch the video and it will walk you thru the steps. If you’re still not sure, let me know each distance and i will figure it and let you know
Great video- I have a question- I believe you said you measured inside your welded columns . Is there a reason you didn’t measure outside or outside ? Just trying to understand I was a little confused Thx in advance
i measure inside to inside because my rafters will sit on the inside of my columns(as they should). If i was going to set my rafter on top of my columns, then I would need to measure from outside to outside of the columns. I would never actually build a barn that way but to make the rafters come out to the length that i would need them, thats the measurement i would need to start with. No matter which way you choose, remember to measure MULTIPLE times and verify your measurements before you cut your rafters.
Thank you for the video. It would be great if you did more videos showing the fabrication/construction of your weld up-buildings.
Thanks for the comment. I plan to video my next build from start to finish.
Great video sir

What is better sir in your experience to sit the rafters on top of the i beam or inside what process is stronger??
What size webbing on you ibeams? 10lbs?
The columns and rafters i used for this building were 12”x 19# beams. Its a 40’ x 80’ building.
