Eh…. Draymond has good points about all of this. I will say that back in the day, no one would have stopped play, much less cared that Edey hit the floor. They would have gotten annoyed play had stopped. Hell, if I was Edey, I would have been annoyed because my team was on the break and it got interrupted. I guess Edey was going to get hurt because the bigger they are, the harder they fall? I’m not sure, I don’t know many athletes that hurt themselves when they trip because they are used to rough play and adjust accordingly. I’m more concerned with elbows to the face, taking someone’s legs out when they’re in the air, being in a player’s landing zone. All of those things are career ending and not called as common fouls often enough, much less automatic flagrants. Dray’s not wrong about Edey’s reputation in the league from now on either. At least Dray feels bad for the kid about that. Not because he’s responsible (not clear if he is or isn’t, that’s a call for the refs), just because he knows you can’t really recover after that and it’s the kid’s first year. Not sure Draymond is keeping it real when he says he’s in control of himself. I respect the discipline and sacrifices he makes to be the top athlete he is but he missed so many games due to suspension last year. Due to his “control” Warriors got a play in spot last year. Without those suspensions they wouldn’t have been in that position.

I will say that back in the day, no one would have stopped play, much less cared that Edey hit the floor. They would have gotten annoyed play had stopped. Hell, if I was Edey, I would have been annoyed because my team was on the break and it got interrupted.
I guess Edey was going to get hurt because the bigger they are, the harder they fall? I’m not sure, I don’t know many athletes that hurt themselves when they trip because they are used to rough play and adjust accordingly.
I’m more concerned with elbows to the face, taking someone’s legs out when they’re in the air, being in a player’s landing zone. All of those things are career ending and not called as common fouls often enough, much less automatic flagrants.
Dray’s not wrong about Edey’s reputation in the league from now on either. At least Dray feels bad for the kid about that. Not because he’s responsible (not clear if he is or isn’t, that’s a call for the refs), just because he knows you can’t really recover after that and it’s the kid’s first year.
