  • First rak'ah (Surah Baqarah, 2:87-91):
[87] We gave Moses the Book and followed him up with a succession of messengers, and We gave Jesus, son of Mary, clear arguments, and We supported him with the Holy Spirit (Angel Gabriel). But is it that every time a messenger came to you, [O Children of Israel], with what your souls did not desire, you were arrogant? Some, you called impostors and some, you killed.
[88] And they say, "Our hearts are wrapped." But, [in fact], Allah has cursed them for their disbelief, so little is it that they believe.
[89] And when there came to them (the Jews) a Book from Allah (Quran) confirming that which was with them (Torah and Gospel) - although before they had prayed for (the coming of Prophet Muhammad S.A.W) in order to gain victory against those who disbelieved - but [then] when there came to them that which they had recognized, they disbelieved in it. So let the Curse of Allah be on the disbelievers.
[90] Miserable is the price for which they have sold their souls - that they should disbelieve in that which Allah has revealed, grudging that Allah should reveal of His Grace unto whom He will of His slaves. So they have made themselves deserving of wrath upon wrath, and there is a disgraceful punishment for the unbelievers.
[91] And when it is said to them, "Believe in what Allah has revealed," they say, "We believe [only] in what was revealed to us." And they disbelieve in what came after it, while it is the truth confirming that which is with them. Say, "Then why did you kill the prophets of Allah before, if you are [indeed] believers?"

    Second rak’ah (2:92-100):
[92] And indeed Moses came to you with clear proofs, yet you worshiped the calf after he left, and you were unjust.
[93] And remember We took your covenant and We raised above you [the towering height] of Mount (Sinai), [saying], "Hold firmly to what We have given you and listen." They said, " We hear, and we disobey." And their hearts absorbed [the worship of] the calf because of their disbelief. Say, "Evil is that which your belief bids you if you are believers."
[94] Say, [O Muhammad], "If the home of the Hereafter with Allah is for you alone and not the [other] people, then wish for death, if you should be truthful.
[95] But they will never wish for it, ever, because of what their hands have put forth (i.e. what they have done). And Allah is Knowing of the wrongdoers.
[96] And you will surely find them the greediest of people for life - [even] more than those who associate others with Allah. Every one of them wishes that he could be given a life of a thousand years. But the grant of such life will not save him even a little from (due) punishment. And Allah is Seeing of what they do.
[97] Say, "Who is an enemy to Gabriel! For he it is who has brought the Quran down upon your heart by Allah's Permission, confirming what came before it (Torah and Gospel) and guidance and glad tidings for the believers.
[98] Whoever is an enemy to Allah, His Angels, His Messengers, Gabriel and Michael, then verily, Allah is an enemy to the disbelievers."
[99] And We have certainly revealed to you verses [which are] clear proofs, and no one would deny them except the defiantly disobedient.
[100] Is it not [true] that every time they took a covenant, a party of them threw it away? But, [in fact], most of them do not believe.
