Man, I got really emotional when Eido started talking about how the eliksini thought guardians and humans were unkillable monsters for a long time. But then they saw us making awkward small talk and they realized we were just as scared and confused as they were. Just the mental image of our fellow guardians awkwardly talking and cooing at the smollen from a distance makes my eyes start to act up ;)
I actually regarded a pair of Eliksni in the Tower Annex as cute because they were trying to figure out a vending machine. Also, one of those two had hatchlings.
Easy there. I stand ready to defend our new Eliksni allies from any who may wish to do them harm. But if they tread the dark path, and come to betray us, may the Traveler have mercy on them in my stead. The fact that we have been able to foster this peace at all is testament to the potential for there to be peace between the City and the Eliksni. Lakshmi-2 seeks to defend the city from a threat she has forseen. But the potential remains that her efforts to prevent the Eliksni's "betrayal" will be the true betrayal that brings that future to reality. Back when the Fallen first came to the system, imagine how they would have felt. Their God, the Great Machine, had left them to burn and die. And then it replaced them. They came here with nothing but what they had on their ships. And they did terrible things to us, the usurpers, their replacements. Who wouldn't have? Now we stand as two peoples that looked up to the Traveler and lost everything. And we're no saints ourselves. But do not force them to bear the weight of sins they did not commit, unless you are willing to bear the sins of your brothers, sisters, and forefathers alongside them. Before we start pointing fingers and drawing lines, let's see how the Eliksni settle in. And until they give me a reason not to, I will welcome them with open arms.

I don't know if you saw, But FWC's Shotgun called The Deicide, it's lore tab contains binary code found in the tower's systems. The binary is musical notes. Savathun's Song.
Yeah it’s also been implied that everyone in the tower is infected by Savarhuns song. Given that Lakamishi, Crow, and several others have been heard singing the song or tune or in Crows case whistling it.
@@cgaming1107 My idea is later down the line in the season the cabal will finally come to some sort of agreement with the guardians to work together after realizing the threat present in the vex network causing the endless night is a hive related one. The most likely candidate for the enemy that joins all races together in game that’s hive related would be the notorious Quria, Blade Transform which has the dreaming city in a curse loop as well as the last city on earth being plunged into an endless night because of it aswell, Quria being seen already in game says this might just be right. The cabal and the fallen might work together to rebuild the Botza Ruins to make it more liveable for the both of them while preparing for the oncoming conflict in witch queen meanwhile the humans in the city are against the changes. From what we’ve seen so far its likely lakshmi will be pushing the humans towards hating the peace we’ve found between fallen in this season so I can’t wait to see how things develop from here. In the Chroma Rush lore tab, that same Eliskni goes to a Raman Bar to sample the local delicacies. I’d like an in depth look at the exact mechanics of splicing. If you read the lore on it, splicing isn’t just about just knowing a lot about machines like a mechanic or knowing how to implant cybernetics like a doctor. It sounds like Splicers are able to weave the Light (despite not being Lightbearers) and use it to rewrite reality to a limited degree. It’s really cool!

Byf in the Eliksni quarters, Eido was talking about how some guardians use their light ineffectively in stuff like gambit or crucible and that if they were given such power they would probably use it better than us. It made me wonder, is this a foreshadowing? Will we see Eliksni guardians in the future? To be honest I doubt that and it would be almost impossible to make one as a playable character. Because it would have to be captain-sized and all that. But it would be fascinating to read about an Eliksni wielding Light.
I would love to have a playable Eliksni character but that would require them to make a whole new player model and either adjust armor and maybe weapons or just give them a whole new sandbox.
Btw I noticed something while searching the eliksni quarters. There are some of those doors with black smoke that the enemies come out. I found 2 of them. I think we will see some enemies in there. Soon...
"What is house light and where did it come from?" Well it all started when -the House of Wolves broke their sworn vows of loyalty and service to Mara Sov and slaughtered the Awoken in cold blood- Mithrax ended up on titan.

The Eliksni and the Whirlwind they experienced is an interesting story. It makes me wonder just how many civilizations uplifted by the Traveler experienced horrific collapses at the hands of the Darkness. Personally I would love to see a future Destiny take us to the Riis System to discover what has happened there since the Whirlwind. I can see a sequel taking place centuries after the end of this current era, where humans, Cabal and Eliksni have rebuilt the Sol System together and created a new golden age for our civilizations, but the Eliksni still mourn the loss of their home and continue to listen for any signals which might come from there. Then one day they pick up a signal... "Help". So a massive starship is built using human, Cabal and Eliksni technology and launched to the Riis System. Upon arriving in the outer edge of the system, the Guardians hop from planet to planet, making their way to Riis itself. The starship would serve as a "Tower" for the players to deploy from. I like the idea of playing as a new Guardian, once risen post-Darkness Conflict who has not experienced true war. Like our current Guardian hearing stories of the Dark Age and the various wars fought during it, the new Guardian would hear tales of Destiny 1 and 2. Our current Guardian can cameo as Vanguard Commander who remains on Earth and appears after the starship establishes communications with Earth after arrival to the Riis System.
seeing the fallen in the town is nuts, like how long and how many times did the guardians fight /specifically/ to prevent the fallen-err-Eliksini from getting into the last city? whenever I would imagine an OC for destiny I always imagined they had managed to gather a small group of Eliksini to fight with and for them, hell, I imagined that they even managed to get a ketch as their home away from tower. knowing some of the lore for the Eliksini always made me feel bad for fighting them and I'm happy that allying with them is an option now. The Cabal are a harder sell for allying for me though ngl.
As long as Guardians can crush anything in their path, any allies can be made! If they backstab us, we break their backs! I have to agree though that Caiatl is a lot less trustworthy than Mithrax purely because of how we’ve met them recently.
Eliksni have always been my favorite. I got my Prison of Elders rank as high as I could back in D1 just so that I could represent with the fallen-themed armor and weapons and my allegiance to Variks. I’ve been repping tangled web armor with my closest approximation to Judgement colors since Forsaken. Hell, me and a friend made an Eliksni subreddit and Discord. The point I’m getting at is that the fallen and humanity are in the same boat, and it’s about damn time we have some formalized cooperation. Thank you for making this video
I’ve got a theory: The HELM is a giant ship that will help evacuate the people of the City when the pyramid ships arrive in Lightfall (or in Witch Queen). It’ll be part of a mass exodus like we’ve read about in some lore entries.
Hey byf you know how you did a entire history of destiny then entire darkness history Can you do one of those for eliksni as well? I think it'll be good for newer players to have you tell the story
BYF, Thank you. As someone who had been dipping in and out of Destiny till Beyond light came around, your many videos have been such an interesting & pleasant way to pick up on much of the lore, it has been a significant binge and I have much more to go -- but so worth it, had I found this channel earlier, and the story for more involved than I imagined for a "space fantasy shooter" I'd have been hooked years ago...
I think this is a wonderful story being told, as mentioned by Holliday back in the season of the Chosen "if we kill them we lose what's most important, our humanity" and whilst paraphrased and directed at the Cabal, it is showing a great example of the opportunity to save those who have lost more than us. Hopefully this season brings some compelling thought to what it means to be human, and just how far our empathy can stretch. "True courage is about knowing not when to take a life, but when to spare one."- Gandalf
Today I started to hear “Hope for the Future”. A curious fact that I learned reading the comments on the official video is that according to lore: Brother Vance wrote this song.
Yes, Brother Vance wrote that song in the lore. Extra fun fact, Vance was voiced by Marty O'Donnell's dad Bob O'Donnell (Marty did the music for the Halo games and the original soundtrack Music Of The Spheres for D1 before he left Bungie, and Music Of The Spheres includes Hope for the Future).
Thanks for all the great content with the end of last season and the content for season of the Splicer! Glad you are also resting when needed! We support you Byf!
i love that especially in a game like destiny, they're subtly commenting on current anxieties and fears felt globally that have developed over the last few years. an impending, existential threat, unlikely allies coming together in peace, learning to understand people's of different backgrounds and cultures; maybe soon we all will be able to have some semblance of comfort w those around us. we really need it nowadays

The fact that the fallen were genuinely flourishing with the traveler and were considered noble is crazy. Like the traveler abandoning them turned them into brute monsters. I’m glad destiny is giving more depth the villains because honestly it makes sense that the cabal and fallen all hate the hive and darkness and joining up with guardians is the best way to go. I hope that in the next dlcs we join forces with them to fight new enemies. I also love that the fallen weren’t just attacking humanity to be evil ass holes but based off of survival and in war there are more then one view point. The fallen were starving to death and becoming desperate to survive.

Not gonna lie. Seeing the Eliksni in their habitat was sobering. So many had their limbs docked. Walking around with my Gun out and up felt really...wrong. At least, to me.
When you mentioned that the usual eliksni height was that of a captain then maybe Eramis was vying for something like that since when we fought he she wasn’t that tall in comparison to skolas and other kells we’ve fought against but then again it may be due to male and female eliksni biology
The size disparity and the fact that ether can be drained from eliksni is probably how they got such a brutal hierarchy. I'd imagine everyone was Kell size on riis. That also makes killing dregs so much worse because that's like their toddler morph or whatever

Fun little bit of theory crafting for future events what if at the end of this event we get a cutscene where mithrax has to sacrifice himself for us to be able to stop the vex from destroying the city and after it’s complete and we save the city and tensions are high between the remaining fallen and humanity because of his death and the future war cult the traveler does something never seen before he sends a ghost and revives mithrax as the first guardian of the light not of humanity descent and it shines as a beacon of hope between both the fallen and humanity that a real peace can be possible
I wonder if any real life event inspired this story cuz guardians and fallen coming together like the cabal last season this is awesome please keep it up byf

Drifter interacting with them is my favorite Fallen: Mithrax says we cant eat humans anymore Drifter: Yea Zavala keeps telling me the same damn thing They both share a chuckle then play cards. Drifters silver tongue really shows how he survived for so long
It’s interesting; humanity has cooperated with 3/4 of the (main)enemy races in Sol. The fallen via the house of light, the vex during the taken war, and the cabal via Calus. Savathun seems to have enough of an open mind to consider allying with the guardians against the dark-though she almost certainly would have ulterior intentions. I never would’ve imagined this being possible when I started playing D1.
Hey Byf, something interesting I haven't seen anyone else mention, is Crown-Splitter's new lore tab, implying that the reissued version is actually Sloane's sword, stolen by a rogue mover clearing her apartment after her presumed death.
I'd love to talk politics with Eido, to explain Guardian and Human culture, and perhaps learn more of our four-armed reptilian friends and their cultures
they are not reptilian they are better defined as insect-like because of their anatomy. Reptilians are rather slippery and snake-like. I am actually trying to think of an insect with a hard shell with soft parts inside. Think of them as spiders with crab or shrimp qualities. (hard outer shell and soft insides) But they also have an inner skeleton that crabs and shrimps don't have.
I was so ready to have the fallen at our side when you talked about the house of light earlier but that now it already feels wrong to go into a strike and kill fallen there
Also one last thing. Are you ever going to do an in depth lore on the guns? I can’t believe it but the last three seasons have ACTUALLY done the impossible: it’s made me look into the lore in the guns lmao.
I seem to remember hearing in a video before that ether was fed to the eliksni in order to make them grow, with captains and Kells typically being hooked up to ether 24/7 when they were born. Guess it wasn't stated explicitly as a hormone type thing.
Looking forward to when Byf covers the lore from the new weapons that talks about some of the human citizens "taking matters into their own hands". Paranoid father that finds himself standing in the garden late at night, thinking his child is a Fallen peering through the window of his house, and a (presumably) young girl finding herself in one of the abandoned houses with her mother and some others having attacked at least one of the Eliksni that tried to get away only for a man to chase after it. Not to mention Arrha, one of Spider's associates that we already know by name, infiltrating the House of Light encampment. If I had to guess, Spider's people are probably where the "Fallen standing amidst the City on fire" Lakshmi-2 saw in her visions came from.
It's because stories like this, that I'm a destiny fan. Their lore and storytelling abilities are amazing. I only wish more of it was put into the actual game so that more people would know these things.

I would love a review of what we learned in the Eliksni quarter. After your recent video, I went there myself to hear what Eido had to say. Some really interesting stuff and I'd love any further insight you could give. The eliksni have always been my favorite alien race in Destiny and I've been dreaming about an alliance with them for a long time. Which means 1) I am so happy to finally be able to live and work alongside eliksni. Some of their animations in the tower are pretty funny, like the 2 investigating a vending machine outside Ada-1's area. Go say hi to them if you haven't. And 2) I am always ready for lore on these allied eliksni. Especially because some of the things Eido says are things I never thought about before this point. For instance, the strange symbol just across from where the house banner is. I'm not gonna spoil it here for those that want to go hear it for themselves, but that one hit particularly hard
When talking to a friend about the differences between Eliksni and Humanity we actually discussed how humans seem super complex while the Eliksni seem to be very tribal in nature, and very dependent on structure. If it possible that humanity was chosen by the Traveler as it's last stand because we are so complex and intricate on an individual level? The Eliksni worship the great machine and show some distain for how we use the Light and distrust the Traveler, but maybe those traits are what the Traveler values. Not a following of a species but a set of individuals that are so independent that we can and will fight the Darkness even without the Gardener.

So, starting off with the Gifts from the Shore, an Eliskni delivers crates stolen from Spider by the Crow to Amanda Holiday. When she hears about the Spider, Amanda calls him something...insulting, which she tells the poor innocent Eliskni that it's a compliment.
In the Chroma Rush lore tab, that same Eliskni goes to a Raman Bar to sample the local delicacies. Everyone in the Bar is frozen with fear, but the Bartender works through the fear and serves the Eliskni. He is grateful, but uses the insult Amanda used as a compliment.
And finally, Shattered Cipher. A woman is looking for her mother in a deserted part of the City, and finds her in a ruined house with a few others. There's a large hole in the wall, with a blue liquid spilled onto the floor, and one of them is carrying a large bag. The moment where he said the children of both races together my cuteness meter went to the MAXIMUM! I can picture a moment like that and I love it! Side thought: maybe Mithrax is going to be the prophesized Kell of Kells, but its still too early to tell.
Pretty sure he doesnt aspire to such thing rn. Which in a Kell its a first. He seems to want just a refuge for the open minded Eliksni, not a full on control over all the Fallen. Thats something which could actually make him a great Kell as well.

Misraaks is far and away one of, if not my favorite Destiny character. He's even passed Cayde-6 for me. He is willing to change. Willing to trust. Although, I must say, I grow increasingly worried as time goes on. I fear that by the end of the season, the fear and unrest will do irreparable damage to this alliance. I could honestly see someone, be it Lakshmi-2 or even Lord Saladin putting a bullet in Misraaks, only to have the Traveler return him to life, or save his life.
I worry that Lakshmi and Ikora have forgotten the expression "the road to hell is paved with good intentions" While I appreciate and enjoy that we have welcomed the Eliksni into the City, I feel that they should have been placed into a more remote location. Having a centuries-old enemy living within our walls will not sit well with some people.
As long as Misraaks is willing to stand alongside us under the Traveler, I will stand alongside him no matter the odds.
I'm inclined to entertain such possibilities but bungie gonna need to add three or more character slots just so we don't have to erase our old one's.
I would love to have a playable Eliksni character but that would require them to make a whole new player model and either adjust armor and maybe weapons or just give them a whole new sandbox.

I think this is a wonderful story being told, as mentioned by Holliday back in the season of the Chosen "if we kill them we lose what's most important, our humanity" and whilst paraphrased and directed at the Cabal, it is showing a great example of the opportunity to save those who have lost more than us.

I am just getting back into d2 along with many other friends, i would be your biggest fan if you could do a quick recap of whats happened in all these story heavy seasons. Glad that vog is the first season im back!
