Looks good, I like the idea of bringing everyone along, pushing the more advanced and not leaving the newbies behind

Yes! Perfect!! Just what I was looking for. I coach a 5th/6th grade team and this is exactly what I was looking for! Thank you!

I like how you are thinking but... What I have found is; I want my most conditioned, most experienced players at middie. Reason for this is I want an aggressive, fast kid on middie so he/she can win the face off, pass it to another middie and then move it up the field. My attack, who are less experienced, then can spread out and catch the ball. Hopefully. I make my kids pass at least three times before a shot on goal. This usually ends up being one of my middies, but it teaches my attack to open up and to catch and throw during a game situation. (I'm talking 7-10 year olds) Once the attack get more proficient I move them to middie to learn to be more aggressive and condition them as appropriate as they age. It works for us anyway. Undefeated with an average of a win with 6 goals up. As the older kids move up to the next age group they are well rounded and well conditioned. and then you move players up and train harder etc. I always start my youngest at attack and defence because of see ball get ball and they see that passing wins games. My oldest at goal and middie. I reserve a young goalie for the second half to advance him as he ages. Long reply I know but I've found this to win games over and over.

Where did you get the lacrosse theme for the background in your keynote slides? Thanks!

I'd love to put my more experienced youth players closer to the goal, but am afraid my lesser experienced middies would then be overmatched in the transition game and we'd never get the ball to the attack. Any thoughts?

+Michael B. Moore - We were just having this discussion tonight. We have 15 kids at 5/6 grade. Out of those 15 kids, 7 or 8 of those kids can pass and catch the ball. It's a rec/intro league so everyone should play (and will play). We want to grow the game. However, we really only can legitimately run one middie line and one attack line. So, we were thinking on running 2 kids that can pass and catch on each line and then put a less skilled kid with them. Then, who will we put on defense. LOL. Thoughts?

What do you call this offense?

Keith Rogers WIth my team I never really had a name for it. It was just "our offense" :). Remember this was the only thing I used with them so…...

Where do you place the 7th girl? Could I just make the attacks more of a square having 2 behind and 2 in crease or outside?

    I think it’s genius.

I don't like it at all. Calling out 1 or 2 players on the crease is not how to think. You are over coaching from the sideline. Set them up in two triangles and teach spacing and movement off ball. Each triangle (1 for attack and 1 for middie) rotate as a triangle.

Well, actually, each formation's name is a number. 1-4-1, 2-1-3, 1-3-2... Each number represents the amount of players at a different plane on the field. First number is how many players are behind goal line extended. Second number is how many players are just above the GLE. The third number is how many players are by the restraining box. You may also teach triangles which is a great system, but the triangle system works within a numbered formation, as you can create an attack and middle triangle many different ways on a lacrosse field.
