I went and played Bear Creek this past weekend (April 2024) and here's an updated synopsis. The range is basically a pasture with range balls that are years old. There is a chipping area that is small with one hack chipping balls out of the bunker and everyone else basically watching for their lives. Putting green is a nice size and adequate. The layout is actually pretty fun to play. There are parts of the course itself that need some help. I wouldn't be far off to say the tee boxes are basically like hitting out of the rough and half of them are sloped one way or the other. The traps are packed sand, avoid at all cost or your SKULL shot may be present as there's really no sand to lift and move the ball. Greens and fairways are adequate and support the reason to play the course when coupled with the fact that it is a good track to play. Whoever designed the course liked the dog leg left, so if you have that shot in your bag, todays your day! Fore Left!!
Great content on this 5000 mile trip. Smooth golf swing. Hope you enjoyed my home state of SC! Everyone from Jersey and Ohio is retiring down here now so maybe you will be able to enjoy our courses 12 months a year. Stay safe on the rest of the trip!
Love Dolphin Head! My parents used to have a place just off of the par 3 2nd hole there. That par 5 4th is a tough one! It used be private. How were the traps? Last time we played they needed some TLC. I think they tried to convert the cart paths to all sand years ago to look more natural.
