Everything else i'd say would be fine for me and my friends (I build bikes for my friends). I bought a Viper frame from CRC in early 2020. I did some research and found they were a small Belgian brand and made in the same factory as Pinerello. The BB was still way undersized and I had to hone it out. Learned it all from Trace Velo.
I bought 2 gravel frames from airwolf for 500€ each. One had too much paint near the headset ao I had the same issue like you. I solced it with a washer below thecone that presses on the headset bearing. The other frame had the problem with a not flat brake saddle which I solved by filing it down by without sepcial tools. Also one cable hole was blocked. I decided to build the two bikes up from scratch in order to get some knowledge about bike repair stuff so the extra work was fine for me. So far it's sturdy. Hey Luke, have you seen the new wheeltop EDS TX electronic groupset. Crazy affordable price and offers rim and disc brake. I was just wondering if you might be checking it out in a future video? A great competitor to the LTwoo ERX I think…if it’s any good and doesn’t give up the will to live by looking at it wrong 🤣
Congratulations! Get professional individual counselling regarding baby's sleep. Helped us and our baby massively😊 The slighly bigger distance between the dropouts could be Road Boost 12x148.
Great review, thanks. I bought an X16, which I think is the rim brake version and the experience throughly annoyed me. Mine, despite being advertised with a 68mm BB the BB shell was wider than that. Their advice was to file the BB down by about 2mm! My SRAM BB would not fit because of the width but we did get a Shimano one to work. The rear dropouts were too small and against my better judgment we followed Trifox’s advice and carefully filed them out. Oh and the BB thread itself wasn’t cut properly so I had to have that machined. Plus the customer service from Trifox was appalling. On the plus side, it is very light. But then so is a crisp packet.
Congrats on the little one 🥖!! Happy all seems well, good luck the the sleep! I had both the steerer and the front derailleur issue with two brands: Hygge for the steerer and Airwolf for the fd. Same solution and other than that great frames!
I got gravel bike frame from china and its about 300 us dollars and its all plug and play ,I have assembled everything on my own, and its 1year now and no issues, its a cheap brand called Twitter, its sold all over here in the Philippines
Same here! Just built a road bike with the Sniper Pro 2.0 frame. Only issues I’ve had was with the headset having some play and the front fork being a little too small. Other than that, everything else was solid. 👌
Hey Luke! I’m considering building an endurance road bike, and I initially looked into Canyon bikes, but their prices seem a bit steep (in my opinion). Do you have any recommendations for aluminum frames from China? I don’t have any experience with carbon bikes. Keep up the great content!
In my past experience, buying older, high quality bikes have never done me wrong. Neither my 1987 or 1999 aluminum Cannondales have ever given me issues of any kind, nor as my 2006 Cervelo P2-SL. If I were competing to make a living, yeah I'd buy a new bike, but I'm a long ways off from making that razors edge worth it.
Is the rear spacing actually 148mm? Like you need a Boost hub? I've not seen any Boost spaced gravel (let alone road) bikes, but saying "half a cm too wide" sounds remarkably like it's Boost.
Great review as ever Luke! Hope sleep regression is settling down, 8 year old and 3 year old over here, got one or the other up most nights 😬 caffeine is king ☕☕☕
Our daughter (now 18 months) would only sleep for a few hours at a time for the first 2 months, then for the next 3 months was waking up every hour too 😭 We started to give her a bottle of formula milk before bed and it made a huge difference. Shortly after that we started giving her some more formula during the night and before too long she was down to one wake up. Good luck 🤞🏽
Great video as always Luke! As a Father of three, with the baby years well behind me, the best advice I can give is to sleep as much as you can, when you can! Turn taking is critical as well, one tired parent is better than two. And finally, just remember it's a phase and will soon be distant memory. 🥖🥖🥖🥖🥖🥖🥖🥖🥖🥖🥖🥖🥖
Get a big box of disposable ear plugs and take turns with them. That way you can get a decent night's sleep every other night, and instead of it being one parent always taking care of the kid at night, you're sharing the pain.
I have 5 kids. 1,5-2 years between them and twins at the end. I thought i should die when they were babies but in the end, it will all be good. The day will come when you all can sleep all night. And remember, time passes quickly.......Anyways...... Thank you for all the videos and information you bring up. I have for now 3 bikes to upgrade and thinking use Sensah or /and L-twoo. Also, I am thinking about buying a frame for gravel. Keep it up, Luke
All the best for your family! My wife and me have a running joke if someone of us had very bad sleep: i slept like a baby, i woke up every hour crying. This was literally our daughter's sleeping habits her first year. Even later she woke up every night at least once. We had a list on our fridge counting nights she completely slept through. At age five the list had just six (in numbers 6) lines on it. Doctors said everything ok with her. You'll get used to it.
Your background music (the one you had on while talking about the music that was on in the background of your house all the time) is so calming, you could probably just try that all day!
What a beautiful baby girl :0) I've got 2 of them and couldn't be happier. Both of them are old enough to drive already :0O, so enjoy your baby while you can as they tend to grow up much faster than you think! :0)
Superb video as always. I was searching for carbon frames, and stumble on BXT's carbon balance bike! - this could be cool idea for a video when your daughter get's bigger...
Maybe trifox will take your feedback into account for future designs. And you can thank the derailleur hanger for that intact dropout. That is what these hangers are for - they are from soft alloy and meant to bend and snap to prevent this from happening to the dropout. As for the customer service - it's a bit unrelated but I can honestly say that ltwoo's pre- and after sales service is quite bad. They also ghost about issues with their products, like notoriously overtightened lever bleed port bolts (GR9 and e9) which are easy to strip because of a bad design and too loose fit of the hex key.
Happy to hear the fam is healthy. That sleep regression hits in waves if it's anything like with my 2 young girls. I've learned to always lead with "my wife is really being a trooper.." and then talk about how tired I always am 😂
The fact that the rear triangle pulls itself together when you tighten the thru axle could be the reason why the rear brake mounts arent perfectly level.
Just a comment on babies sleeping, or not. My experience as the prime carer with both my daughters from 3 months onwards is that they do get through it just before sanity leaves. And also that not rushing them back to embed if they wake for food can help too. I used to feed them ( bottle obvs ) then change nappy just in case ( on them, I was dry by then ) and soothe them back to sleep. Have fun :) 🥖 🥐 🍞
9:00 I might sound very inexperienced but I think there are spacers or something to make axles work in "wider" frames or ones, where they don't properly fit for cassettes too. Maybe that could help, but I am no professional and maybe that sounds pretty bad from. I am sorry if that does not help you...
Hey there luke! Congrats on the baby! Btw I was wondering, when will you make a review of WHEELTOP EDS TX? I need to know if it's a reliable e-shifters for my disc build. I hope you see this message asap, thanks again luke and congrats!
Hello Luke, how are you? I'm from Brazil and I really like watching your videos, even if they have subtitles, and since you like trying new things so much, have you researched the new Eds TX group from Wheel Top?
I had 2 girls (now 13 and 10) and we found the 'Save our Sleep' books by Tizzie Hall to be so beneficial. They have them from birth and a second one from toddler. So recommended as both my girls from the start ended up being full night sleepers (7pm to 7am) and also regular naps throughout the day. Some people have issues with controlled crying and complain about the mental effects on the baby, but that's not been my experience and my mental health was so much better because of them. Routine, Routine, Routine.
Sorry, I also really like that Trifox bike and thinking of doing a full Chinese build. I've already built 2 other bikes (Specialized road bike and monster cross gravel bike) and your channel has helped me in summing up my selections for things to look for.
So I bought one recently to move components over from a crashed bike but I've only put on 200mi at this point. And so far I'm not running into any of your issues luckily. The one issue I've run into so far is that the rear axles H6 hole is probably a little smaller than it should be, causing the bolt to round out. They've sent me a replacement but required me to pay shipping. One thing I did notice was that your headset doesn't seem to have the same clearance as my bike. My bike seems raised 1mm because of the aluminum part that goes between the bottom spacer and the frame. Also I have a baby the same age as yours. I think I lucked out, because my kid sleeps 6-8 hours through the night! My parents are involved and so they help watch my son during the day. But my wife and I also let our son soothe himself to sleep. If he isn't crying real tears, we'll give him about 5 minutes to try and get himself to fall asleep before we intervene. He's gotten better and better, to the point where sometimes I put him in his crib, he'll let out a cry but then kinda sooth himself to sleep. He likes to either put his hand on his face, suck his thumb, or touch the back of his head to get himself to feel better.
Being a dad of two men (34 and 33) only one was a nightmare with sleeping, the other was really good. Don't worry... other issues with kids will be more concerning. Things even out over time. Just love your baby and listen to what the mom tells you todo ;-) Looks like for a little more $ might get you a better frame than trifox.
RE: Bub musics Something to try, old skool Ska. Not just Two-Tone but definitely the happy, jumpy, brass section stuff. Mighty Might Bosstones first album, Area-7, The early Porkers EPs and album worked a treat for my niece and nephew🥖🥖🥖🥖
Hi Luke, loved the latest video summing up the Trifox saga, like you say with a bit more quality control they'd be on to a winner, but i suspect its the pile 'em up and sell 'em cheap mentality. So the 'odd' complaint is bearable compared to money rolling in. You'll get some decent sleep with the little Lady pretty soon; all's forgiven when you see them blissfully sleeping with arms above head! Had to laugh when Mrs TraceVelo corrected you about your sleep deprivation comments!😂😂😂😂😂 In case you hadn't heard, (forgive the pun) they've all got ears like deep space listening stations imo. Take it easy and have a great weekend.
The common denominator seems to be Trifox and a lack of QC and attention to detail when it comes finishing, all their frames are open mould and are sold by others and yet Trifox as a brand has gained a bad reputation, while the reviews for other sellers selling identical framesets is mostly good.
Hi. I’m not Luke but for what it’s worth I bought the LTWOO eRX groupset a couple of months ago. Had to replace the RD quite soon after as it lost its brain. The seller was very good and sent me a replacement quite quickly. It has been great ever since. Once you’ve used the app to micro tune the gears they are Smooth, slick and the hydraulic brakes are great. Love the feel of the hoods too. Works really well with my 11sp shimano Ultegra drive train 11-28t cassette. I recommend it. Hope this helps.
@@johnp8092 Thank you. Its good to know they have quality customer service. Especially with how they are releasing their product to public and using them as Beta testers. Which seller did you use? Have you had your bike out in the rain at all? thanks again.
In the late 90s my boss at the shop I worked at asked to assemble a high end Bianchi with high end Campagnolo parts. I was excited! But my excitement soon turned to dismay as I discovered what a mess the frame was! I spent an entire day finishing the frame (facing, chasing, aligning, etc.)! The components needed work too. Truly a mess. The bike was gorgeous when it was done, but boy, that was not what I was expecting.
Hey Luke, watching your channel has inspired me to consider this as an option. Have you had a chance to see the frames being produced by ELITE? I figure they are great at making wheels. What are gour thoughts?
Start the sleep training early at like 5 or 6 months, will be a game changer! Recommend Ferber's Solve your Child's sleep problems, Also for when the kiddo is bigger, there's a gap in the market for videos about child seat setups on road/gravel bikes
On rear triangle, on dropout you need put a washer, because if not...when you tight the axle the rear triangle stay always on pressure, this issue happen also with brand frames, its not exclusive from chinese carbon frames. well done.☺
Strange I did not see my comment in the positive file. But my comment was positive. I do have a MFM100 full suspension MTB from Trifox. It compares closely to the Scott Spark RC. I built it up with premimum Fox suspension (115x120mm), Fox dropper, Sram deraileur , Trifox flat bars and ICann rims. I race XC with the bike, as well as use it for training. Held up very well for the past 3 years with no issues. A freind of mine also got one and concurs with my experience. Maybe the MTB frames are better?
The thing about the rear dropouts, is that even if it clamps down fine, there is no telling how well aligned the rear triangle is. Maybe it's not enough to notice, maybe its perfect, but it doesn't give one a lot of faith in the frame.
You can tell with just a string, if you cold set a frame from 125 to 130mm you already know how. This frame was 148mm boost hub width, he needed new hub end caps
My X16 rim brake was flawless. Quite happy with it. (65kg rider) The handlebar tho, a real piece of sh13t. Super bad, flexed a lot and cracked during a 20% climb. Still, all my PBs are riding budget Chinese carbon.😅
That distance from the cap and the rear arm is really bad. The problem is that without a spacer, when you tighten the thru axle you force the arm to flex 1mm and moreover it is the arm with the hanger/rear shifter that becomes misaligned...tricky Had the same experience with my Carbonda when I switched to 12s cassette: without a specific 12s rear hanger I had not a proper distance and fit and forcing the frame to flex compromised the shifting really bad
Sleep is rough for the first 1.5 years of a baby's life; - for the first few newborn weeks you're waking up frequently to feed - after a few months and periodically thereafter their little developing brains reach development hurdles in the night, disrupting their sleep - a few months after that their first teeth start cutting through their gums - throughout all this, if they wake up due to a wet nappy you need to attend to it promptly to protect their bottoms Once all that tapers off you'll start to get your first solid stretches of the baby sleeping through the night. And then you can look forward to The Terrible Twos :)
Hi Luke love the videos, did trifox send you a new rear hanger ?, have to say that on the basis of you first video and build video, I went ahead and got one 😬 now so far no problems 🎉I suppose it’s just luck as you would think they’d send you a perfect example. Maybe I got your one 😂I’ve put the Sensah empire group set on it and yes the FD is pants swapped it out for Sram and now it’s perfect. I wouldn’t have attempted any of this without your videos so thanks so much

That could actually be an awesome mistake for me (if i bought one) because I’ve got an extra set of Elite Drive 6 wheels in 148.
The amount of work done outweighs the cost, I guess. Great video as usual.🥖
Love your honesty as always, and hang in there, Luke. 🫡🥖🥖🥖🥖
Thank you for reviewing this , I'm thinking about ordering a frame

Get a big box of disposable ear plugs and take turns with them.
That way you can get a decent night's sleep every other night, and instead of it being one parent always taking care of the kid at night, you're sharing the pain.
Yeah I have some earplugs in the post actually 🤣
Great video as always Luke. I'll probably stay with my alluminium frame. "Abraços" from Brasil
Have you considered Elves on your list of potential frames?
Superb video as always. I was searching for carbon frames, and stumble on BXT's carbon balance bike! - this could be cool idea for a video when your daughter get's bigger...
cup cone washers for rear brake mount issue instead of wee bit metal jammed in it
Maybe trifox will take your feedback into account for future designs.
Thanks, yeah I hoping it will pass quickly. Last night she slept quite well, so maybe we are on the home stretch 🤞
Luke as a Siroko ambassador you should recommend they implement a crash program. I took a fall a couple of years ago and my jersey was ruined.
The sleep regression is brutal. Chin up, it eventually ends and they sleep through the night.
Great vid 🥖
Hey guys look just answered, and I cant wait for grinding that mech!!!!! Let's just keep stay tuned💯💯💯💯💯
I really like your channel and everything you do, I just need a Mountain Bike version of it.
Hello Luke, how are you? I'm from Brazil and I really like watching your videos, even if they have subtitles, and since you like trying new things so much, have you researched the new Eds TX group from Wheel Top?
That extra wide dropouts could be 148mm boost spacing by mistake
Hi exactly the same problem, got a replacement from trifox, was blaming my H6 😂 no other issues so far really enjoying the bike
RE: Bub musics
Something to try, old skool Ska. Not just Two-Tone but definitely the happy, jumpy, brass section stuff.
Mighty Might Bosstones first album, Area-7, The early Porkers EPs and album worked a treat for my niece and nephew🥖🥖🥖🥖
I also have a "flexy" frame (non trifox), and it causes the rear disc to rub on the brake.
I have same problem but notice that there is lower and upper bearing 8mm on top and 7mm on lower and that take care of spacer rubbing issue.
Request update on the ERX groupset and congrats on the little one. Sleep will improve with time.
Are you sure it's the rear triangle and not the thru axel adapters/hub being to narrow causing the spacing issue you pointed out?
In the late 90s my boss at the shop I worked at asked to assemble a high end Bianchi with high end Campagnolo parts. I was excited! But my excitement soon turned to dismay as I discovered what a mess the frame was! I spent an entire day finishing the frame (facing, chasing, aligning, etc.)! The components needed work too. Truly a mess. The bike was gorgeous when it was done, but boy, that was not what I was expecting.
Just like a Ferrari
Hey Luke, watching your channel has inspired me to consider this as an option. Have you had a chance to see the frames being produced by ELITE? I figure they are great at making wheels. What are gour thoughts?
Hi Luke, just on the rear brake disc rub 🤬 I’m using 160 disc, directly fitted calliper to frame and no issues
Awesome content as always
Start the sleep training early at like 5 or 6 months, will be a game changer! Recommend Ferber's Solve your Child's sleep problems, Also for when the kiddo is bigger, there's a gap in the market for videos about child seat setups on road/gravel bikes
On rear triangle, on dropout you need put a washer, because if not...when you tight the axle the rear triangle stay always on pressure, this issue happen also with brand frames, its not exclusive from chinese carbon frames.
well done.☺
You are the best Luke!
Yeah, That rear definitely warped when they were getting that either baked or layed.
Same here.
Even with the issues it's a beautiful thing , really nice build 🥖🥖🥖🥖🥖
What about the OG Evkin frame?
Doing the same but with an alloy frame... and shimamo components. Alloy handlebar stem and seat post.😊 mechanical brakes.
Biggest problem is, if you have all these issues that are visible..... You can't trust what's not visible.
Thorough and informative video 👍
My X16 rim brake was flawless. Quite happy with it. (65kg rider)
The handlebar tho, a real piece of sh13t. Super bad, flexed a lot and cracked during a 20% climb.
Still, all my PBs are riding budget Chinese carbon.😅
With thru axles, the axle takes most of the load off the frame for hanger/derailleur hits.
I have always been curious on how you take your riding video. Do you have a gnome filming your ride?
Hi Luke. Is there a bar tape you recommend? I need some for my new OG-Evkin bars.
That distance from the cap and the rear arm is really bad. The problem is that without a spacer, when you tighten the thru axle you force the arm to flex 1mm and moreover it is the arm with the hanger/rear shifter that becomes misaligned...tricky
Had the same experience with my Carbonda when I switched to 12s cassette: without a specific 12s rear hanger I had not a proper distance and fit and forcing the frame to flex compromised the shifting really bad
Trifox? No thanks! Happy to see your daughter healthy.
Hang in there Dad. Sleep will come.
god bless you bro always love the vids
Sleep is rough for the first 1.5 years of a baby's life;
- for the first few newborn weeks you're waking up frequently to feed
- after a few months and periodically thereafter their little developing brains reach development hurdles in the night, disrupting their sleep
- a few months after that their first teeth start cutting through their gums
- throughout all this, if they wake up due to a wet nappy you need to attend to it promptly to protect their bottoms
Once all that tapers off you'll start to get your first solid stretches of the baby sleeping through the night.
