The crankshaft is a 1.4" with 3/8 keyway. Our engines are samples. They have not hit the market yet. We are expecting a $2K price point.

If you count the wires and check resistance of the rotary knob you could match it to an existing throttle pedal for electric motor controllers

  • @danw1955

Seems kind of silly to make a 'drive-by-wire' system for a carbureted engine.🙄 It would have been much easier (and more efficient) to do it with EFI. It still may cause you problems when you replace the carb with a mechanical unit, if the ECU is tied in with the throttle controls, and decides to not start unless it senses the throttle and choke stepper motors. Also, you may have to hack it to go beyond the rated rpm, if the ECU limits rpm via the coils, as well as the throttle position. I wonder how well that 'start/stop' switch is sealed up against dust and other assorted trash? Seems like future problems to me. I guess a regular old key switch was just too simple.🤣

I love utility engines. If I had the shop space and all the tools like milling , lath , and mig/lig and stick . I would build lawn equipment, small tractors , boats , carts and bikes using Utility engines. I like the small agricultural equipment that China a India makes. I'm an economy minimalist kind of guy. Americans and western Europeans has to have expensive high tech, bling and comfort that can scratch their nuts.

Once I had a red beard, now only white. I've been enjoying your work for a while, I've been a mechanic over fifty years, and am stoked you are taking old style engines, and making some serious horsepower from them. When I retired from the marines, my wife and I moved to "farm country", I've been using the same techniques to mow ten acres of lawn, I ride a 90 inch harley I built in 95, and hope to do some travelling this year, actually getting on the road again. I'm really interested in seeing you put a carburetor and seeing the kind of power you can get out of it. Thanks for sharing all this.

If it has the same bolt spacing as the Briggs and Stratton. It will bolt up to the Go Power Sports engine plate, sku kpdem-2, with just minor modification. All you need to do is, hog out the bolt holes, in the engine's base 1/16". You just need to make them oval. It a lot easier than making your own engine plate. Support your boy!

Hey Red Beard, love the video! Just wanted to add a little bit of information concerning the electronic carburetor control. I have just received my Duromax 999cc engine for my mini airboat. I previously had a wore out vanguard 35hp and I purchased this engine to replace it. As soon as I received it I took the front cover off to check out the potentiometer. The numbers on the back gave me little information honestly and seems to be a 2 wire industrial type POT. I then did a ohms reading on it and it’s 0-5k ohms of resistance from idle to full throttle. I hope this helps some of you all with current or future builds involving drive by wire. Keep up the great videos Red Beard and God Bless!

This thing is going to be a monster if the modding and aftermarket community takes hold of it. The v-twin predators get some sweet big bore kits and other upgrades. I could see this pumping 75 horsepower or more. 50 at the very least.
