No doubt. As much as the sound quality of these early live shows was inconsistent. Aren't there any seventies videos of them? I seem to remember a "Big Balls" video..lol
IN that back pack Angus is wearing is the Wireless Guitar Transmitter. They were that big in 79/80, that they were about the size of a note book, 2.5 inches thick and weighed about 10 lbs.
So glad you are watching the footage of 1979 tour. It gives you greater appreciation when you see them 30 years later at 2009 at River Plate Argentina. So reaction for song Sin City and Whole lotta Rosie 1979 Paris, France.
They made their name during the Bon Scott (lead singer here) era. Checkout their gig in 1978 at the Glasgow Apollo, which is raw rock and roll at it's absolute best, and ACDC in their pomp. Let There Be Rock is the best track, but they're all good. Bon Scott sadly died about a year later, after doing all the groundwork for Brian Johnson to build on, but these were the glory years when they were young.
I think that book bag (satchel) actually held the first version of a pick up. Before then, Angus had to have a long wire trailing back to the amplifier, with somone having to pull the wire back so he didn't trip on it.
Aye! What a great way to kick off a Friday with both AC/DC and the beautiful queen! I can see you playing the Epiphone SG or Les Paul Junior electric guitar.
AC/DC came to Greensboro N.C. about 10 years ago and I was very disappointed to see the stadium only about half full. Tater Salad (Ron White) was five rows in front of me.
@@mauharley I've driven that many times, too. But Brian claims that the boys were telling him it was the Nullabor. And tht makes much more sense than Canning Hwy.. I mean c'mon.. Canning Hwy in the early 80's wasn't an issue. lol
@@tiffanyforbes2703 yes he is but acdc also mentioned that highway to hell could have been about travelling as well. But initially its canning Hwy from froe to the raffs
Highway to Hell was written by Bon Scott about Canning Highway in Perth Western Australia. It is not about the Nullabor Plain as Brian Johnson claims(Brian Johnson never met Bon Scott nor did he write to song to know in the first place). Bon Scott used to live in Spearwood, Perth & he would drive down Canning Highway to get to the Raffles Pub, coming west to east from Fremantle. The road is hilly & winding, and still is! But back in the 60's/70's there were no speed limits posted & no traffic lights either. It caused many accidents & deaths hence its nickname in Perth at the time of "highway to hell" . Now its a completely different sort of hell to drive down with a speed limit of only 60kms per hour & traffic lights every 10 metres practically. It takes forever to drive down now! You can actually take Canning Highway to get to Bon Scotts grave in Fremantle Cemetery. Last year on the 40th anniversary of Bon Scott's death, the Western Australian government allowed for the Highway to Hell aka Canning Highway to be closed from the Raffles Pub to Fremantle in order for a tribute parade be held in his honour. Bands playing AC/DC songs on the back of trucks were allowed to roll down the street while thousands of spectators lined the street in the same way the band did their original video of "Its a long way to the top if you wanna rock & roll" in Melbourne.

I gigged for something like 30 years as an avocation. Monitors work, but sometimes you get a guitar player that gets it too loud to actually hear them (the monitors, you definitely hear the guitar player!) That said, I've often wondered how people actually figure out how to sing in harmony. I've been able to do it my entire life, but I know that somehow it is an acquired skill, I just don't know how I acquired it. But I can hear the 3rd, the 5th, the 7th, the 9th (and the minors, depending on the song) while doing harmony to someone else singing lead. I'd be very interested in a discussion of how the heck we humans can do this. And that said, thank you and I am a new subscriber.
They had Floor Monitors. But if you even sang with only floor monitors, you know how hard it can be to hear past the 200db guitars and 300db cymbal smashes. lol Things were Definitely different in the 70s and 80s.
