  • Today I try casting a bronze WW1 bayonet that I received as a gift years ago and it actually came out quite nice , after my 2nd attempt that is . Anyway something a bit different today so I hope you all enjoy and as always have a happy safe weekend and be sure to check out what vids I did that you missed when you get some spare time😁👊.
    Now Guys if you Feel like supporting the channel it wont cost you a cent as you can Simply just donate some of your time. By just by allowing the ads to play through this will help out a lot and that’s how I make a bit extra revenue and the good thing is more revenue means more giveaways and more treats for the dogs👊🏻😄. A better way to support the channel is play one of my playlists on your computer before you walk away from it and let it play through that really helps as well but don’t ever feel as though you need to watch the ads if you don’t want to simply skip them and move into the video it’s completely up to you and I understand if you don’t have the time to do so👌🏻😁👍🏻.

    HOW I MIRROR FINISH A BAR
    I start with an 80 grit flap disc on my angle grinder then I use my drill with 50 mm round sanding discs . I start with 150 grit then go through the following Grits 240-400-800 Then once I get to the following Grits I use a small squirt of WD-40 1200-1500-2000-2500-3000. The WD40 helps to lubricate the discs and stops the sanding disk binding up with the metal powder . Then after that I use my buffer wheel on my bench grinder to get a perfect mirrored finish on it.

      Hello Mr BigstackD.
      For the pieces of armaments found from the Bronze Age and the experiments of experimental archeology (reproduction by trials of ancient methods) that the blades of great lengths were cast with a vertical mold and not with a horizontal mold.
      Gravity surely having a say.
      Maybe next time try this method.
      Have a good day.👍

    Approximately 5,000,000 Pattern 1907 bayonets were made in Britain during World War I. The makers were Wilkinson Sword, Sanderson Brothers & Newbould Ltd, James A. Chapman, Robert Mole & Sons, and Vickers Ltd.
    The X on the Riccaso was a bend test mark… there were presentation ones of these which bore the 1907 date mark and are extremely rare.
    You have number 528 of 1000 …. Please don’t polish it.

    • @yaboyblacklist2431

      In other words, the bayonet he has is very rare and (potentially) very valuable. Sweet.

    • @tonyandjackieholmes9546
      @tonyandjackieholmes9546 Рік тому +5

      Interesting - where is the X and can you shed any light on the other marks - was it issued in 1917 or 1923 Are the other stamps arsenal marks?

    • @richkh
      @richkh Рік тому +26

      The '17' stamped over the '1907' indicates a 1917 manufacture date. The partial symbol over the '19' is perhaps an '8', so the actual manufacture date would be 8th month 1917. The fact it's stamped with GR indicates it was made during the reign of King George (1910-1936), as opposed to Edward (1901-1910).

    Something you said is bothering me. “…I’m a melter not so much a maker.”
    You’re wrong. While the elitist gatekeepers of foundry work love to rag on people who “just make ingots,” you have shown millions of people around the world the joy that comes from this hobby of melting scrap metal and making a shiny bar, with sprinkles of castings thrown in, and there are hundreds if not thousands of us who finally took the steps to get started in this very hobby because of your videos, me being one of them.
    Your video style is impeccable, it has a clear structure from start to finish and is consistent in its storytelling.
    You are a “maker,” you “make” people happy every Friday morning when we see the notification pop up that you posted. You “make” entertaining videos that help goofs like me stay organized in my head so I can continue to learn about melting and casting. And us dog parents love the chance to see Ingot and Bullion, so you “make” us happy to see how much the doggos love you.
    Just my two cents. Have a great weekend D.

    That there is an Enfield Rifle Bayonet. .303. I had an imported version with the “vickers” mark on it from Canada. The mark of the crown is the British blah blah you get it.

    I love your videos, been watching/subbed for a very long time. I think the new compound is sick, and I can't wait for the next one. Very nice job on the thing with the stuff, and howdy from Oregon

    Nice sword.
    Our frenchie, Savvy, is a little barrel too. She's nearly 12, and lost most of her teeth so her tongue sticks out the front.

    Love the new idea. Refreshing. I always love seeing you disassemble stuff and make it melt, but this was a welcome change. Side note: all those flames and wood near each other seems like a risky idea

    I see some comments complaining about this being an antique etc. People should know that there are likely still millions of these in circulation and they cost around £60-90 and can be found easily both in street markets in the UK or online. They are not rare at all and were mass produced as cheaply as possible. Nothing to worry about damaging or breaking.

    I've seen other shows making things from melted metal - and trying to get the mold just perfect - and I'm screaming at my screen (well in my head) just grind off the excess - what's the big deal? Your shows are always satisfying and calming. Also, baby octopus is my favorite food on the planet. Good show. Ahhh..

    As a locksmith I must admit. I admire the editing of the lock sequence to conceal the true bitting of the key for the lock. But given the foresight of such an edit I am curious as to the plans for the bodies of the trespassers that think they can get an operating key for your lock😂😂
