32:00 interesting trick you probably didnt know about: if you have cards that deal KNOCKDOWN or use your CQC attack while Venus is near a ledge, you can knock her off and instantly kill her, just like she can do to you, making her boss fight extremely trivial (she aggressively follows you so shes easy to bait into standing near a ledge)

I don't know what KojiPro was on but every Metal Gear game on the PSP is a banger. Still waiting on someone to make a spiritual successor to the Acid games. Here's hoping that they show up in the next collection of games.
MGS Portable Ops is a bit shakey but that's more down to them trying to fix the entirety of MGS3's moveset onto the PSP's limited buttons. It certainly shows the lessons learned when playing Peace Walker. Hopefully this guy'll play Portable Ops because it's interestingly designed, has some unique quirks, a precursor to Peace Walker and MGSV's base management systems and a great, if soft-canon story (it's officially canon but some parts conflict so you just ignore the conflicting parts). It also has interesting place in the Metal Gear timeline as the first action by Zero to form the Patriots, secure the rest of the Philosopher's Legacy and was the earliest release to hint at Zero's involvement in the Patriots prior to MGS4's release, as well as being the turning point of Big Boss shifting from being just a foot soldier to being a commander.
To my understanding the first acid sold nearly 900000 copies and Konami was so impressed sales that they fast tracked a sequel (there are rumors that a third acid game was planed as well). however acid 2 sold just under 200000 copies and Konami got cold feet stopped the acid series after this game
Something I've noticed with Metal Gear stories is the situation as initially presented is always not what the mission goal actually is. This isn't a critique of Metal Gear specifically as it is a trope of espionage fiction as such fiction relies on misinformation and plot twists for drama but the knock on effect as a long term fan is I never take the initial mission briefing at face value anymore. This does open up a possibility for subversion however as if we're conditioned to assume there's an ulterior reason for the mission, having the story play out such that everyone is being honest, while appearing suspicious or everyone is honest and the protagonist is actually the only character with an ulterior motive.
"I thought you were going to assasinate him as soon as I broke him out. A psychic or even just a sniper or... something." "No, Snake, you're just projecting. You've been on more black ops than anyone. Trust issues are common in former FOXHOUND members, unsurprisingly." ...Now that I think about it, I'm halfway surprised Kojima never added a personal therapist for Snake on the codec, ses like something he'd do
It's so crazy, that the snake in that game is a clone of the one from metal gear acid 1, who supposedly died. Which doesn't make sense because I played metal gear acid 1 and that snake and teliko made it out alive. Also the snake in metal gear acid 2 has brown eyes while the solid snake from 1 had blue. And liquidus in thermodynamics is the liquidus temperature is when a solid completely becomes a liquid. Just as there was a Solidus snake, there should have been a liquidus snake and metal gear acid 2 should have been liquidus.
Regarding about the total card count, it is not 1100+. 565 is the total of unique cards available plus their upgraded forms and a few special cards that have been upgraded already. As such, the real unique card count barring upgrades would be around 240.
I just caught something: they said that this Snake was created from the body of the real Solid Snake on the island....they never specify that it was his "dead" body. The real Solid Snake went on his merry way to climb that mountain with his new battle buddy. That is, unless they specifically say he died....in which case...they surely couldn't be lying or misinformed, right? Also, it's important to remember the fact that Snake is one of several genetic and memetic clones of Big Boss...whose DNA is already out there. A clone of any Snake (aside from memetic clones like Venom Snake and Raiden) is as good as any other. Also, didn't Snake get some kind of injection of something during the first Acid? That could be when and where the genetic sample was taken from his body.
pretty sure you alerted guards with unsurpressed things in acid 1 but they needed to be really nearby but this is a much more streamlined game and its great that being said enemies in this game are thankfully grouped up more making silenced stuff more valuable(and venus is a fun fight.......if you dont use knockdown to instakill her). the koppelthorn thing though makes me think the game lore order of events is GHOST babel-mgs2(EXTERNAL GAZER)-MGA-MGA2
Small correction: there are only 565 cards in the game, the upgrades are part of that total, which you can see in your own footage at 6:20 . Upgrading Cost -4 adds to your total number of unlocked cards.
I have been a fan of the MGS games since I first watched my dad play mgs2 and mgs3. At that time I was 6 years, and now I'm 22 and have played 12 of the mgs games to completion. And I love the videos in this series you've made. Every video takes me back to when I first played MGS and I love the nostalgia those memories brings me.
Okay, I'm back. Dnld'd it the other day. This game is CERTIFIED CRACK! As a turn-based strategy RPG fanatic, so far this Metal-G adaptation is everything I was looking for. Tactical turn-based RPG + Espionage & guerrilla-warfare military tactics = Superior gaming experience that no gamer should miss out on...
The amount of cards and gameplay is stellar in 2. Finally including Fatman as a card. The only thing about the game i don't like it the twist of Solid Snake from the original game being dead and replaced with a clone. They made it a big point that he was a "Legendary Hero" in ACID similar to how Snake is in Canon so everyone just forgetting that doesn't make any sense.
I'ma throw this out there. I prefer the art style of Acid over Acid 2, but the QoL upgrades make it really rough to go from 2 back to 1. For the hot take, I prefer Acid / 2 over MGS 5 & 3.

I genuinely loved playing it, but i couldn't stand the story. Its a shame too, because I loved the first Ac!d's story. Also that final battle with the Metal Gear Kodoque was such BS, due to its broken ability kill you by walking over you at any time... with no real way to counter it. As a result, despite the VAST improvement's to the gameplay, I prefer the original Ac!d to its sequel by a wide margin, overall. PS. Did you know about the Solid Eye Tobidacid attachment? Basically it was a little cardboard stereoscope goggle attachment for the PSP that allowed you to play the game on your PSP in 3D. It was kind of a predecessor to Smartphone VR Headsets. Was pretty cool... just a pain to use, as it essentially meant holding the PSP to your face while playing it, and it slid around too easily.
I did look into it a bit! Didn't get the chance to use it myself, as I dumped my copy to PC for upscaling purposes, but it seems like a cool idea... even if it isn't all that great in execution...
These games were golden. Back in 08/09 I got mg acid2 brand new near release along with a new psp and portable ops plus. Plus didn’t make sense so instead I spent thousand of hours(on 2 never had 1) playing and crushing this one and because of that I bought both and a psp again and tried to play again like a year ago yo see how nostalgic it was. After merely starting 1 and adding the famas from 1-2 upgrade it to a load style and acquiring Venus and her m4s with 8 shots each (cue frank fontaine reveal laugh) Ha Ha Ha. Needless to say those who’ve played deep understand why with mild deck building as in some cost reduction m4 and m4+ and movement plus heals and I was able to smoke extreme boss rush with relative ease. But I have to ask, is that really impressive? Or is this game pretty spongy? I’ve wondered since and nobody’s played this game deep enough to answer that. Even the game store was oblivious to this game
You could definitely skip straight to 2 if you wanted to, but if you played Acid 1 first, it definitely wouldn't feel as clunky as if you played them in reverse order 🙂
You can tell this team absorbed Kojima's essence, because the doctor lady has boob physics and there's a lot of really dumb names and designs for characters. Also, Snake's supposed death is quite simple to explain: they're lying about Snake dying at the end of Acid 1. At some point afterwards, his DNA was taken in a similar manner to Big Boss's for the Les Enfants project. They're lying now to keep the fake Snake from going looking for the real Snake, because that'd be a real nightmare for anyone trying to build Metal Gears.
the change in art style, especially the brightness being increased is because the game came with a cardboard lenses that you could put over the psp screen to play in "3D" Great idea, terrible execution. Still love the game though.
I remember way back in the day PSM held AC!D and AC!D2 as benchmarks of how good PSP games were back then
Psp games had the highest quality of anything pre 3DS

You could definitely skip straight to 2 if you wanted to, but if you played Acid 1 first, it definitely wouldn't feel as clunky as if you played them in reverse order 🙂
Been waiting for this can’t wait for the rest of them
You can tell this team absorbed Kojima's essence, because the doctor lady has boob physics and there's a lot of really dumb names and designs for characters.
MY GOD THE JIGGLE
I don’t care what people say, acid was a good spin off game
Serious Snake from Second encounter. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh yourself ^^
Yeah. That's Snake.
10:59 jiggle.
Another excellent video.
We need MGS acid 3
Pls review Social Ops next!
mental gear acid
2 hurt my eyes to play from how bright and way too colorful everything was. My eyesight already is pretty poor so this did not help.
I hated this game so much but maybe because I sucked at it, maybe ill give it another try and finally try acid 2
naaaah, wtf are those jiggle physics
the change in art style, especially the brightness being increased is because the game came with a cardboard lenses that you could put over the psp screen to play in "3D"
Great idea, terrible execution. Still love the game though.
You might not like Portable Ops
10:58 wat dem tiddehs do
Acid 2 is a much better game than acid 1
Why is everyone's foreheads SO FREAKIN HUGE?!?
This game is great but kinda overrated
