I listen all the FJ Haydn symphonies, one or two a day. My admiration is absolute! I wonder how human could write this titanic volume of deepest multiple and elaborate music. No one wrote smthg similiar after him, except F Liszt and R Wagner, I guess. I don't mean style or genre, just expression. So his magics not equal to some set of methods. No one could answer how human could became so genious and why nowadays there are no any composer, who can write some competitive piece comparatively to master FJ Haydn. I guess, his music is one of main secrets of nature and one of main achievements of humankind.
There are some good musicians, mostly in film music, like Jerry Goldsmith and Hans Zimmer and John Barry. But I got the idea that for a great deal they tap from the treasures of Classic music. Bruckner was a real genius, one of the last. Reason: Music comes from God. Humanity has been alienated from God. It's been as sad and slow moving cultural process, man descending towards a very dark abyss. It was the church responsible for this downfall. You read about it in Revelation 17:16. The descent will end in the Biblical endtime, which we are fast approaching. It takes a few years before Jesus will bring humanity back under the wholesome rule of God. Then music will again be composed as was meant.
Si direbbe che Haydn abbia composto questa sinfonia per capriccio o per scommessa. Il materiale tematico dei quattro movimenti è derivato pressoché interamente dal primo di essi ( Robbins Landon prospetta l'ipotesi invece che il primo movimento sia stato aggiunto in una fase successiva), il quale è a sua volta di "seconda mano", essendo il finale originario della sinfonia Imperiale n. 53 appena rimaneggiato. Ma non basta. Il nucleo melodico su cui si appoggia tutta la sinfonia è un'idea elementare: la triade dell'accordo di tonica in un movimento ascendente e discendente. Haydn ha costruito con quel tema primitivo vari tipi di movimenti di sinfonie e durante lo Sturm und Drang, aumentando la serie delle note di alcuni gradini, ne ha ricavato il tema simbolo di tale periodo (n.45 e n.56). Altra bizzarria, l'autore non ha voluto discordarsi dalla tonalità preferita, imponendo "re maggiore" per tutto il corso dell'opera, salvo l'oasi del trio. Una sinfonia quindi nata dal nulla, straordinariamente uniforme nella melodia, nell'armonia, e nella struttura ( tre movimenti su quattro in forma sonata), eppure non meno ricca e scintillante delle altre.
