Jayce, your videos talking about conceptual grey areas are my favourite from AA these days. It's great for someone to discuss openly the ethical issues of developing tech with a very realistic eye
Always good to have someone to point out the crazy parts in the licence agreements.. thanks
Offline storage is the best option for me and even if I need cloud storage I would go with other platforms like Box, Dropbox, etc which have encryption and I pay for the storage so that I am not the product..
i love ur explain my first time but i like way u say . thank u
Great place to store your pirated 1080p videos!
Vasav Chawla Nope, as long as you don't share them they don't delete for copyright content/other content they otherwise would delete on youtube. Only restriction is 10GB per file and 1080p
your privacy was gone as soon you got online..deal with it ...
if you trust b.-.... C doesn t matter. just leaks like develpment or other specification tools have choice to look the information of 4th persons or other.... like sniffing tools ...
Well said...u wanna put yourself on the internet doing stupid shit u shouldn't be doing for all the world to see...good luck cuz you'll need. Once it's out there, u can not get it back!
I don't mind Google using my personal information and whatnot. It's a fair trade.
Whatever I give grant access to, they can use.
Whatever I don't want to grant them access to, I'll store locally or even offline.
Sure, automatic backup of your photos sounds nice, but if you want to have 100% privacy, buy a hard drive. Storage isn't much cheaper than it used to be.
Jet Lag Yeup, buy an external hard drive, but I do use microsoft onedrive for certain pics and vids.
johnkeem103 And microsoft will used it in bing ... the same go to icround and apple iad
+Jet Lag How do you store pictures locally or offline? There are certain photos I don't want to back to to google photo!
I'm having a similar issue. My phone automatically uploads my photo's to Google photo's, then I can't move them to my laptop.
If I want to view photos off line, I need them stored on my laptop's hard drive. It could be made easy to copy or transfer hard copies to my hard drive, but it is difficult or impossible. At this point I have mostly concluded that this is not in Googles interest. I've stopped auto download of my photos to google, and will do it manually to my hard drive.
2:00 what if I disable ads personalization !
Sure appreciate your kindness and your honesty. Im very pleased that you had the courage to tell us all the facts of using google photos. Thank you much Sir. ...❤
thanks for the information... i recently saw all my mobile photos in google pics and was shocked. There is no privacy now seems to me... 2 things as a work around we can do :
1. De-synchronized google photos from setting in mobile, by doing this still google photos will take backup but will not share to cloud, so still it is stealing my pics, so option 2 below will help you
2. Download Folder Lock app in your mobile , now click all photos from folder lock camera option. i checked this google cant fetch photos from folder lock software
Keep making videos about google or android privacy issues. Keep up the good work
We live in a digital age, are privacy is useless now, if we even have it any more.
Anything worth money (or potentially incriminating but needed) I encrypt and put on the drive (minding the limited space).
Though as I don't really have much in the way of organization at all with my photos, let alone geotagging, anyone sifting through my stuff will be going around in circles for hours.
what's the best way to save pictures? even if we save them on our personal computers? would the best bet just to save everything on an external hard-drive so no one can see them and we have privacy? and just use Google photos for emergencies when we run out of space on our phones and we're on the go? and if we have them on Google photos can't we just transfer them over to our hard drive and delete from Google photos?
PSA: This applies to anyone using Windows 10. M$ owns your pictures on your computer.
i wish there was an open source version that i can host myself on my pc
I need your help bro, my watsapp app statuses are automatically downloaded and shon in Google photos, and thumb photos are shown in Google photos app, how to stop it, and important think is duplicate photos are shown in my camera folders, it's looks like low quality photos and consume low space in kbps, how to stop this problems
I shut off back up and syncing from every possible way, yet Google photos ignores me and steals every photo off my phone anyway. I have tried every fix I found on the internet. Nothing stops them for more than a couple of days. Shady.
Ever since I have been using Google photos I have regretted it. It seems once my photos are in Google photos, they become Google's property. I can't post to craigslist, I can't save them in files on my computer for offline viewing, Google limits and controls what I can do with my own photo's. I think I'll have to quit Google photos all together.
Helena Burke First thing I did after buying a Google pixel phone is to turn off the auto backup of everything that was ON in the background. Now I only upload whatever I want to manually from the Google photo app.
Hey man I having a problem with my Google account because every single time I delete my saved image it would pop right back up basically like every time when I delete it so is there like a solution of how to fix that
So which app according to you is best for cloud backup in terns of best privacy?
What the heck how do you make them all private? At least until we weed through it
Mets 170 - Depending on where your photos are in the Google photos app there is a tab (blue) at the top right corner you can slide left til it turns gray. This will disable backing up and syncing to other devices.
For you to think you have any sort of privacy is delusional.
"We know where you are. We know where you have been. We can more or less know what you are thinking about" Google CEO Eric Schmidt.
And this statement was made in 2010.
Most amazing is the ability of face detection....can u imagine when security agency has access to this system....
Can you print from google photos app, or save from someone else's albums into your computer album, or delete something you put up accidently, or delete from someone else's album?
Thank you. Now I am going to delete all my photos from Google photos.
im avoiding google photos, its more than just using my info to sell me things.
I think that anything on internet can be hacked any time, even if its google. Hence I never keep important private matters like bank details, important passwords etc . anywhere on internet.
Hey I am actually unknown about these google and web things but I am in a problem that I had one picture in my phone and it automatically got backed up in the google photos now will that picture be private or not? Can you please help me out
shit i just started using it should i delte it
So what you're saying is that Android phones cannot take photos or store photos without Google having access to them? so I'm guessing that means if you do not want Google to have access to your photos you simply cannot take photos at all????
BLU Vivo Air vs. Motorola Moto G? I cant decide, which one do you prefer and why?
Hi - thanks for posting this video. so by the sound of things i should not under any circumstances upload any personal files/documents???
I mean i don't care what google sees. Its not like I'm trying to hide anything
This is why you use 35mm film cameras and make 4x6 prints
my photo app.says it's has stopped also it says, ive reached the end, what does this mean & how do i fix it.
Amazing how many are okay now with sharing their privacy with Google. Can't stand Google photos, or the app. And they make it difficult to get away from also. I'll never be cool with it.
I'm OK with them taking my info to give and build strong ad database. But publishing my stuff?????? That's too much ....
Abdulrahman Alrehan, they don't publish your stuff. They do have the right to though. This is scary, but I doubt they would cuz it would hurt PR
Have fun being spied on. And yes google does share yoyr data to toger advertisers this could unclude your photos.
I started using Google photos 1 week a go , and I have this video in recommend
I own an HTC 10 and it has the Google photos app as the default gallery app but I never signed in the app. Is my privacy still at risk??
so i guess they'll be sifting through my thousands and thousands of memes. More power to em.
Skynet is watching
All you have to do is get someone’s cellphone and type in google photos and bam all your privet photos are on some search
3:53 is that the default camera app? or one downloaded from play store? if dled from play store, name of the app plz.
but would Google really use our pics? that's a fat chance right? obviously if they did no one would use it. I'm up in the air wether I should use it or not. any thoughts?
..& the irony is that this video has been uploaded on a video streaming website which is owned by google 😅😅
Is there anyway you can speed up the backup process for your photos? I swear to God it takes forever.
Just think of it as you're uploading your photos and videos to any Social Website but only you can see it.
I really like your epsoids , thank you from Bahrain 👍👍
a difficult topic to ponder at.
one side G Photos really helps us to store and back up those accidentally deleyed photos
other side i have concern how Google will monetize my photos for their purposes and the fact it KNOWS me more, the more i store my photos....
i agree your statemnt but the mobile world has gotten this far to have much of our data stored there...
thanks for brought the topic to us.
I saved my paypal password in pictures format and i got message paypal password is resset. Some thing wrong plz help i also uploaded credit card pics on Google photos
am i the only one who check their phone when they heard the messenger sound in the videos background ?
" there's nothing more expensive than a free stuff. It always have a string attached"
An asian old saying
Thank you for this information. This means lot to me.
Google have said that they would not use your photos to target better advertisements for you though..
I'm gonna start using Google photos because I'm afraid I might loose all my memories in my SD card. IDC about Google seen my pictures because there's nothing to hide.
So I've been thinking about downloading Google Photos, but hearing about this,I have some questions.
My camera roll mainly consists of tumblr art and screenshots I find and take while on the internet.
Now,I don't have an actual tumblr (I'm basically an anonymous) so that's why I can't just reblog,so I take screenshots on my phone.
So,will google do anything bad with those useless screenshots? Or am I good?
Also,I know this video mainly talks about android, but does this also apply to Apple products??
Someone please answer,thanks :>
Should I just use an SD card? Thanks for reading and answering. 😁
You can not have 💯% safe cloud storage !
My niece uploaded pictures of my dog, possibly pictures of me with her then shared them with me. I am extremely private and don’t want anything on google images searches so I’m very pissed off right now. My sister too these pictures shortly before my dog died so I absolutely don’t want them on the internet…
if i uplode in my photo in google photos.
how can see it...??
only me or other...???
how i trust google ..?
when i uplone my parsolal photos .. how trust its not published google...? plese ans me..??
Not sure you've done your research. Google says:
“Google Photos will not use images or videos uploaded onto Google Photos commercially for any promotional purposes, unless we ask for the user’s explicit permission.“
It seems to be a sign of our time that people think "oh no google has access to ME", "it's listenning to ME" like they care about a picture of you and your dog in whatever location. Stop the egomania people. The only thing interesting to Google is how to generate money. And this is also a paid product. So I am not the product. I rent 1TB space so I can have full res picture and videos stored.
Good video title to generate views and make money.
but legally they can do whatever they want with those photos. I mean it wont be good decision in term of PR and they would loose more than they get

i had the fbi show up at my house because of a video that i never sent to anyone, so shut your mouth and becare full what you do
google photos keeps saving my images and its creeping me out...
Thallium RC automatically uploads it to the cloud? What phone are you using? Cheers
that song by the Rolling Stones keeps playing in my head. "HEY YOU! YOU, GET OFF OF MY CLOUD"
Hello Android Authority. Just wanna ask a question. Is photos and videos from gallery that automatically back up in google photos will also be deleted if you data reset your phone? Thank you
Just saying, these info are encrypted, only the close-sourced google apps can access them and view them at conditions. So it's unhackable to a certain, kindof unreachable extent.
what could they do with your foot nail picture? Do you really think they will publish such horrible picture on a X website and make more money? I don't thinks so... However they will 100% show you a great pair of shoe, a product to get better nails... I would prefer this than a website showing me and spamming me daily by email about a skirt... I do not wear skirts.
They have acces to all data from your phone anyway. With or without cloud sync activated, all data from your your phone will go to Google. You just need to be connected to the internet.
just started using the app on my phone. all my pictures and videos are now within the app frm what I can see but are they really saved? how can I make sure all my pics are secure on the app #help
Simple. If you don't trust, don't use !!
Google Photos deleted my pictures....-.-
it'll delete photos from your stock gallery if they are already backed up. it does this to save space on your phone. you can disable it.
Nickoy1 Channel how do you disable it. And can you remove a photo from your back up without it removing it from your phone. For example if I back up my photo library but I have a photo of my ID or drivers license I don't want backed up can I delete that from my back up without it deleting it from my phone
Elis yes you can simply just go to google photos and delete it by long pressing and delete. That was it won't be deleted from the photo library just the cloud. After deleting from the cloud go the the trash section of Google photos and delete it there too, or you can leave it and it will be cleared from trash in 90 days.
This article is from 2015 and outdated. I have a new Motorola Moto Z3 I have disabled backup/sync and when I create a album on my device it automatically uploads these pictures to Google cloud. I want to know how to stop this . My pictures are private and personal , I do not want them on any web server period.
Ok, there are so many of those but I'll give you one close to home:
I lived in LA pretty much all my life, one day me and some friends watched a whole line of police and federal cars driving up the street so we wanted to know what's going on and followed them.
They got to a house and about 50 FBI officers jumped out of their vans and cars ran to the house surrounded it broke the door and after a while came out with a fully bruised cuffed person ( they really did a job on him ), any way the regular police wouldn't let us take photos even dropped a few cell phones that did came out!
To make a long story short, they held that neighbor in some dark hole for over 3 months, when he got back he had no sign of any of the beating that he got but he was still scared, it took a while but eventually we found out what really happened: This guy worked for the movie studios as one of the writers of one of the TV shows and he was using google a lot to get his stories as close to the real thing as possible and it turned out that he was doing a lot of googling about the perfect murder which one of his findings was to kill a bunch of people to cover up the internet of the real person that was supposed to die making it look like a terror act which led the Feds to his house.
So you might be a really good guy and still get in trouble because of google and this neighbor is the perfect example a really nice guy!!!
By the way he was not allowed to see a lawyer and could not take them to court because they made him sign a paper that he was treated right within the law, only then they let him go.
This is one of many!!!
So guys are you so sure about your comments?
They also use us to train their AI for images.

i totally agree with you as i donot want my private photos to be autometically uploaded ...
How do I get my photos of my old iPad forgot my I’d on it and my password
it really makes scare :-(
so... i guess i have to go back to iPhone then.. or Windows? i don't know.
Lol Jennifer Lawrence's iCloud was hacked by someone and he leaked her nude pictures.
Icloud is a horrible substitute, as there are major storage limitations and if it's locked down, someone is bound to take it all... and use it malevolently.
Why? He's talking about Google photos, an app. Not an entire operating system. Stick with apple if you want, but you'll deal with compromises and higher prices
How do I transfer google photos to a thumb drive? Thanks
I have Google photos and my regular gallery can I disable Google photos on my Samsung galaxy j3 my memory keeps saying it's full
sir, I'm from panchgani india.. lol
Actually i was trying to explain the same the thing to my friends. hopefully they understand now. Thanks
Can anyone help me.. For some reason whenever Ive taken photos on my android phone they've automatically uploaded to Google Photos. I want to delete them all at once and stop this from happening in the future. Atm though all I can figure out is how to delete them one by one and it would take me forever and ever to do that. Anyone know how to get rid of them all at once?
I regret uploading my photos to Google Photos. I should've backed up my photos on a USB instead.
+crzyrdr No. The video stated that Google has access to my photos and I don't like the idea of them knowing my personal life.
RetroAdzz go to your profile on G+... click on Settings... then there should be an option related to picture then you click it and then click on BACK UP (OFF)
i am watchin u 4m India...ha ha ha
So he mentioned India, what's the big deal? Indians are so obsessed with themselves.
I uploaded my pic's on Google photo if I delete that pic's from Google photo will it also erase from there side
If I delete all the photos from my phone are they still going to remain on google photos
I do not follow the tone of this video. I will never trust Google enough to upload my photos to them (who then send them to the NSA no doubt). No thanks!
Are you doing illegal things? I don't see it as a big deal, personally.
Eric Green
I'm not. I'm unhappy for third parties having access to my personal photos, emails, contacts... Life. It's unethical when I'm a decent, law abiding citizen.
Privacy is right. You have reached the point where you actually have to justify that right.
Dex4Sure
I don't. I don't use NSABook (Facebook) or Twitter. Google is not what it seems. It is in bed with the NSA.

Nevertheless, I'm sure you subscribe to Facebook. Where's the logic there? We're talking photos vs connect the dots to every freaking person you know on the planet. SMH
google photos is a piece of shit. I know they want to make it simple, but they made it too simple.
Put it in a file you don't grant access to, then save it in an external drive, such as a Flash, then delete the file...
the domain can be close to < .android > or
if someone thinks this is bad then you'll scream when you find out the truth about Facebook
Timothys Fraud! haha true
If you use the web in any way shape or form, or if you use a smartphone, your information is being gathered. Now that DOES NOT mean that someone is actually looking at it. Yes, they collect data, all of them do, not just Google, but it' s a computer that is processing the information not actual people. Even that embarrassing nude pic from last night. That picture is not unsafe in a cloud service like google pics. Again, if you use the internet in any way or use a smartphone, you are being profiled, live with it. But don' t be afraid, uncle Sam is just a computer program, an algorithm. NO ONE IS ACTUALLY LOOKING AT YOUR STUFF!
It's a me Mario @@@@ssssssssssssssss
Mathieu Fortier it's not the program you should be worry about, it's the people controlling it. Who say they can't see your data when they specifically said, "we can publicly show your photos".
That's to cover them if they get hacked because everything goes to a server
