she sounds "american" because when you sing you talk with a rhythm and harmony you carry on the word from what you normally would British or anyone not american has an accent that is a different rhythm to singing unlike most common american accent you speak slow and pronounce word with more emphasis british people normally have sharp ending at the end of words and not as light . if you have an accent practice it now say and sing something see the difference
