i've seen the umd version for a few dollars on ebay, is it playable without the online servers? Are there pre built tracks? really trying to find a kart racer for psp
I agree, it has a lot of things to do, modnation for ps3 is awesome and psvita too, but other games such as Motorstorm i recognize that those are great, but you cant build there or create your own avatar
@kingcoapa PS3 version > PSP version. Not even including Mario Kart, the PSP version is just 'eh' as an actual kart racing game overall, mainly due to notable lack of gameplay refinements. It's not bad, but I wouldn't of got it either if Welcome Back never happened. By the look of it, the new one for Vita is more or less the PS3 version, so I honestly can't wait for that one. And I'm enjoying the PS3 version more then any other kart racer.
Being an owner of the PS3 version, the only real complaint I have with the racing mechanics is that they're vastly different from their PS3 counterparts. So even though the tracks are the same, I have to race a different strategy because of the PSP's difference in drifting. It's not unbearable, just annoying, along with the lack of upgradeable weapons. IMHO, if you release the same game for a different platform, the game should feel the same regardless of platform.
You only have to keep practicing to drift well. I just went back online just now to play this game on my PSP, once in a while I enjoy racing in it again. The handling is much better on the PS3 but I found that after a long time I could drift without a worry in the world.
I already have MNR for PSP, but I am curious: Is the user generated content shared in both versions? Like... a track created in the PSP can be played on PS3 and viceversa. If I get enough money, I'll consider buying this because I love the franchise :)
@thegreatkenz true that but it WILL be portable a trailer for a new case that comes with a battery thingy which where you can plug the ps3 or xbox to play with a small screen connected to the case the trailer's from ign
@Cheesymango1 they rate the game in 4 parts, sound, gameplay, grapchics and presentation, they rate each with points and just add .5 if they think i should, then they average it and it might come up with some random decimal number...i think :P
@dkmariolink don't worry you can still get your game, just go to account management>Transaction Management>Services List>SCEA Promotion and in there you will see you welcome back offers, which ever one you messed up with just press it if in the bottom where it says remaining it has the number 1 then all you gotta do is choose the game you want and there you go :) all the rest will say 0 cause those are the ones u got the games for already :)
@LuckDice When i posted that comment it was during the welcome back program sony has done. LBP 1 and modnation racers for the psp were one of the free options.
I went ahead and got this game. Its not that bad. it does seem like your going fast. The only ONE thing that sucks bout this game is the bad drifting on the psp.
No friends list, no voice or text chat? It's a HANDHELD game! How much do you expect! How many handheld games do you know where you can create tracks, vehicles, and characters! I don't have a psp, but I think the PS3 version looks great, and if I did have a psp, I would pick this one up too.
@littleman411 I think you are right, but imagine how great would this game be if you had buddy list and voicechat.... I would give it 10/10 even with 2D graphics
played the psp demo, and the game is pretty good, the game does have that kick ass feeling, the weapons are nice, and the drifting....well youre not suposed to drift everywhere like the dude on the video does..... when it comes to creating maps, its simply awesome, you can do lots of stuff and character creation, well the demo doesnt have that...lol
@627dotdot The PSN Store you mean? It will come back May 24 from what I heard. I cant wait to get ModNation and Little Big Planet on my PSP that day :)
Can you make the tracks go up and down like you can put tracks over a track by using the right joystick on the controller like the PS3 version ? Should i get the PS3 version or PSP version of this game?
kann das spiel nur empfehlen! am anfang ist es wirklich nich leicht (aber is das nich auch besser so?^^) vor allem der editormodus was fahrer, fahrzeug und strecken angeht ist super...die demo gibt da schon einen guten einblick ;)
@Mainsail1975au Oh my god, get Modnation Racers. Pursuit Force has a much, much better sequel and the game itself is cheap on UMD anyways, and Modnation Racers is easily the best kart racing game I've played besides Mario Kart; in many ways, it's way better. My only issue with it is that the drifting really is a bit frustrating and I can't get sideswipes right, beyond that the game's about as good as kart racing gets. The PS3 version is apparently much better, but the PSP version still rocks.
Guys, if you want a real tough, funny, challenging racing game i recommend pursuit force. It is very fun and addicting and the hardest game I've ever played.
i played the demo and it take some time to learn to dift but i don't anymore. the amount of thing on they, It's not as good as the PS3 version, but for the PSP, it's has more then i thought the PSP could do. i would give it a 4 out of 5.
2 reasons that I don't always prefer this game. 1. The creation is REALLY dulled-down, and that sucks. 2. The karts and mods can be glitchy, especially on user created tracks (example: i randomly fall through the ground or get stuck in a wall on my own tracks...).
The karts really do move slow compared to the PS3 version. On the PS3 you have nice big turn radius when drifiting... seems like it's gonna be terrible playing this on the go if I already have it on the main system.
know what you can drift easily by clicking rbutton and analog not just the analog you need to steer the analog left and right as long as you drift so your drifting is not bad thats what i do in my psvita and psp but my psvita is broken
I was gonna get this hopeing to get more content unlocked to send over to the PS3 version but if it doesn't have that feature then forget it, no bonus content to make more stuff no buy.
@Kheperan This is psp. The ps3 version looks way better. That was the one they were saying that will beat mario kart, and the fact is that it will probably do, but fans of mario wont betray nintendo, so dont worry. Oh, and please, just look at what youre comenting before saying something stupid. Peace
Me, I don't care a hole lot about the visuals. If there awesome, sweet. If not, it still might be good. Plus it's a portable system! What do you think this is a PS3? The graphics could be better that wouldn't leave room for great gameplay.
one thing bothers me. When I began to play it online the first few days, I was able to use any car body. After a time, it only allowed me to use only 1-2 body types. Is it fixed? or is it still the same?
i can actually make sense about complaining about SOME menus, but only in games with HORRIBLE contols, menus, menu controls, etc. but yeah, i get your drift if ya know what i mean!
@Robmeisterflex you should never trust a review from a company anyways they get paid for it thats why they are on some game covers too, if your on the fence about buying a game ask a friend or look up a review from a random
the only thing i agreed with is the drifting. i played the demo and the drifting wasnt drifting as much as it was turning towards the wall. otherwise, they're obviously comparing it to the ps3 version it seems like.
@littleman411 You're saying they shouldn't rate the game for it's CONTENT? What else are you going to rate it for? And it doesn't matter about good graphics, the big complaint here is that the driving mechanics are bad. Mario Kart on DS has some pretty boxy graphics that don't compare to the console versions either but they managed to capture the same experience you got on the consoles, and IGN gave that the good score it deserves.
The title of this review is ModNation Racers PSP Review. So this review is only for PSP.So don't watch this review if you gonna ignore it!!!And also STOP COMPARING PSP IN PS3!!!!Make your common sense common!
getting this and pursuit force thanks sony. i would get killzone liberation but it doesnt come with the multiplayer add on so i cant see me playing it very long.
I was around 6 or 7 when I played this game. It was actually the first video game I ever played. I miss these days, and I think I still have that game
Yes, they definately focused on the PS3 version. This was just a bonus for those handheld gamers.
for anyone interested the servers for this version are still online you just need to buy a pass to acess it
i've seen the umd version for a few dollars on ebay, is it playable without the online servers? Are there pre built tracks? really trying to find a kart racer for psp
Yes, There are built in tracks and you can still play the game even if you're offline.
I think modnation racers is the best racing game ever
Well yes, but actually no. What About MotorStorm?
I agree, it has a lot of things to do, modnation for ps3 is awesome and psvita too, but other games such as Motorstorm i recognize that those are great, but you cant build there or create your own avatar
@@thatgreekmothafuka
motorstorm is amazing even by today standard.
All the mario kart games: *Am I a joke to you?!*
@@lordwoody8352 this was 7 years ago to this day I love mario kart way more than modnation racers
the ps3 version is better
yup
The PS Vita is the best
so many memories , if you were playing online 8 years ago, chances are we raced each other.
I never knew there was a Modnation for PSP!
Me too! That is pretty cool
@@avenger115x i will download it rn
There's also one for Vita.
I LOVED the PS3 version,and I got this for X-mas.
I freaking had the same expression for this one,and LOVE it!
Ah good ol IGN where they weren't payed to give good reviews to games that didn't deserve it. The psp version is lacking to it's console brother.
@kingcoapa PS3 version > PSP version.
Not even including Mario Kart, the PSP version is just 'eh' as an actual kart racing game overall, mainly due to notable lack of gameplay refinements. It's not bad, but I wouldn't of got it either if Welcome Back never happened.

This is one of the games Sony are offering on the welcome back promotion for PSP owners
wow I didnt know it was gonna be for PSP as well! This is sweet ima get it for both the PS3 & PSP now I can play it on the go as well!
Ok it's a psp (portable) game, I think these graphics look pretty good for a portable system
Guys if I were you, I would pick LBP and Modnation... there both one of the best games on the PSP
damm this game is 8 years old can still remember that i pre ordered it when i was 11
You only have to keep practicing to drift well. I just went back online just now to play this game on my PSP, once in a while I enjoy racing in it again. The handling is much better on the PS3 but I found that after a long time I could drift without a worry in the world.
MNR on PS3 was perfect! But MNR on the PSP had alot of problems, I still liked it, but I didn't play it to death like the PS3 version.
I already have MNR for PSP, but I am curious:
Is the user generated content shared in both versions? Like... a track created in the PSP can be played on PS3 and viceversa.
If I get enough money, I'll consider buying this because I love the franchise :)
I agree with the drifting problems in the psp version and before any of you say it... NO I do not suck at the game.
Well atleast the editors doesn't use touch controls
@thegreatkenz true that but it WILL be portable a trailer for a new case that comes with a battery thingy which where you can plug the ps3 or xbox to play with a small screen connected to the case the trailer's from ign
this guy is brutal on the psp....its a little device and can still do all that
@Cheesymango1 they rate the game in 4 parts, sound, gameplay, grapchics and presentation, they rate each with points and just add .5 if they think i should, then they average it and it might come up with some random decimal number...i think :P
just an invalid opinion, this game was ahead of its time.
@itmontero yes you can, lvl 1 till 10 is pretty easy but when you becomes 15 it's alot harder to promote.
@XBOTSrUs Oh and 71 million units isn't declining. That's more than double the PS3 install base.
hey dudes, play the demo of this game on the psp, it looks better on the psp than on this screen, since bigger screen make the pixels alot bigger
@Jatton7 i TOTALLY agree with you. I feel like the psp version is a little too watered down since i have played both versions
Downloading this game now. Here in India, my internet connection is so slow that it takes almost 6 to 7 hours to pull down the game.
To drift I just push left AFTER pushing right then left/right for bigger/smaller turns. Try it.
i have no problem drifting in this game, you just have to correct your drift path if you start to early or late
Things could be sharper? What they've done already is amazing.
Nobody would even be looking at this video if it wasnt for the Welcome Back Program
1:58 even I could do better than that because I have this.
@LuckDice When i posted that comment it was during the welcome back program sony has done. LBP 1 and modnation racers for the psp were one of the free options.
@tatico3 Since when do graphics make the game?
I went ahead and got this game. Its not that bad. it does seem like your going fast. The only ONE thing that sucks bout this game is the bad drifting on the psp.
I can see me just creating maps alllllll day :)
This game looks like a quick last minute cash-in.
@divinidadoscura thats nice to know. butter is to green so i stoped puting it on my thighs
Well, I know one of the games I'm getting with Sony's welcome back program.
I already have LBP, so...
kart racer ! :) loveed that game . can't wait till this comes out
for a second i was like "these graphics suck" then I saw it was the PSP version lol
It will never be as good as Mario Kart.
I need opinions!
Should I get this?
What are the best racing games for psp
@loliong he also missed god of war 4 the revenge of the sith reloaded edition
played the psp demo, and the game is pretty good, the game does have that kick ass feeling, the weapons are nice, and the drifting....well youre not suposed to drift everywhere like the dude on the video does.....
when it comes to creating maps, its simply awesome, you can do lots of stuff
and character creation, well the demo doesnt have that...lol
It's the PSP. Of course its going to be crappier than the PS3. But it's still hella fun.
@ranthony023 Your right but whats your point. I'm looking to get either this or Pursuit Force.
Fair enough..... i want his review on the console version.
looks mario but the difference is they made it more fun and made it to be a ulitmate racer games also the ps3 version is awesome!
when you created a racetrack, can you race offline against computer controlled mods too or can you just play online at your own track?
@GamMan93 i totally agree they compare it too much with the ps3 and complain about how the psp lacks in detail compared to the ps3
One of the games im getting is killzone liberation so for the other space which is better LBP or Modnation racers?
@627dotdot The PSN Store you mean? It will come back May 24 from what I heard. I cant wait to get ModNation and Little Big Planet on my PSP that day :)
i was choosing between this & little big planet...i chose this
@Ocelot60 Yeah, but still i can't believe it that the Mods in create mode are ALIVE! Really Alive! O_O
@nerftendo005 the reason i compared the two is because they didn't lower they're standards and that was a freaking good game.
Damn this game has better graphics than wii
Can you make the tracks go up and down like you can put tracks over a track by using the right joystick on the controller like the PS3 version ?
Should i get the PS3 version or PSP version of this game?
Is it worth playing offline?

@HombreAlabama Actually, I kinda know what they mean. On the PSP version, it feels like if you try to drift, you'll veer hard enough into a wall.
Well i love this game. Plus the drifting is simple.
Guys, if you want a real tough, funny, challenging racing game i recommend pursuit force. It is very fun and addicting and the hardest game I've ever played.
Awesome review as always guys!

does this have online option? or just ad hoc

I wanna see Kratos racing!

is this game any good? in fact are any of the WB psp offers much good?
if youtube has ads, THEN PLEASE let them be relevant to the video
the guy reviewing this sounds like seth green.
@nygiantsfromcali no they gave modnation racers on ps3 a great review
@Robmeisterflex you should never trust a review from a company anyways they get paid for it thats why they are on some game covers too, if your on the fence about buying a game ask a friend or look up a review from a random
how does IGN manage to get an ad on every single on e of their videos
the only thing i agreed with is the drifting. i played the demo and the drifting wasnt drifting as much as it was turning towards the wall. otherwise, they're obviously comparing it to the ps3 version it seems like.
@beast123113 thnx man, I just need suggestions not criticism.
I will get split second though.

is the full psp ganme out yet
The thing about having 4 different accounts is that I get all Son's Welcome Back Program things (:
