Colorado Front Range railroads Burlington Northern Santa Fe and Union Pacific were in hot competition, in June 2023, hauling double stack intermodal trains on the Pikes Peak (BNSF) and Greeley (UP) Subdivisions. Contemporary locomotive types included BNSF ES44C4 and UP ES44AH diesels in action.
In October, Denver's Regional Transportation District (RTD) A-Line, airport commuter trains, blew their horns for the Chambers Road grade crossing in Aurora, a Denver suburb. There were no horn blasts at the Sable Boulevard crossing because of a "No Train Horn" law, typical of much of the rest of RTD's commuter rail system. These heavy-rail electric four-car passenger trains connected Denver Union Station, in downtown Denver, with Denver International Airport. Sixty-six Hyundai Rotem Silverliner V cars were delivered to RTD in 2014-15, as 33 married pairs. The commuter rail line also paralleled Union Pacific's Kansas Pacific line until about North Airport Boulevard and Smith Road. A switching train, with a former Missouri-Kansas-Texas GP38-2 and a former Denver & Rio Grande Western GP40-2, were operating eastbound this day.
Finally, some Fall color graced the Arkansas River, as Canon City & Royal Gorge Railroad SD40-3 no. 603 pulled an excursion train over the former Denver & Rio Grande Western Royal Gorge Route.

Remember when the RTD A line launched and they had to manually flag each crossing with horns? I don't know why that actually happened, but it was interesting times...
I would have been furious as a residential land owner near all those crossings.

Chambers and Smith Road, the crossing there still gets horn blasts with every commuter train, but yes, it's increasingly rare.
