Amazing servant to our club. A true Red and a very humble and hard-working lad.
He is just a wonderful, lovely fella. Met him twice and he was so warm. You should always appreciate players that become part of the club, part of the city. Buy into it or fall in love with it genuinely. They are rare, we are lucky that Liverpool has had many. Just look at Jan for example.
Legend, on his day he was one of the most consistent CDM's we have had.
Are you for real?? That is a disgrace to our proper legends! He's not fit to lace their boots!
Don't be so silly mate. He wouldn't of got anywhere near rhe liverpool teams of the 70s and 80s
Another one that thinks football started in 1992
He was robbed by that knee injury. Superb midfielder at the start of the 10’s for us. Good lad and honorary scouser. Enjoy the retirement
Totally agree, he was such a monster under Kenny till his ACL ruptured against Chelsea. He made the likes of Spearing and Adam look good playing in a 2-man CM! That side with Suarez, Kuyt and Maxi roaming around looked so good at times. Lucas was 100% the anchor and imo the best DM in the league at the time, reminded me of Kante in his prime with the ground he covered and his ability to just sweep up everywhere and outbattle people larger than him. Never fully recovered his pace and tenacity afterwards, which was a big loss considering he was never the most technical player either. Massive shame.
people forget how good he was when we battered United 4-1 at O.T., Lucas kept Tevez and Ronaldo at bay and barely gave them a chance to create anything. To me that's his best performance.
What a load of b0ll0x! Bang average player only got as many games because of other player injuries!
@gerrardsmiceralonso sorry best in the league? He wasn't better than Jon obi mikel, Michael Carrick,Ramires,Essien. Mascherano,Gareth barry. And I'm a liverpool fan and have missed out lots of other players
Your memory's playing tricks with you. He became a fan favouite because he got over a difficult start and had a first class attitude but he wasn't the best defensive midfielder in the premier league
@@TORRES999ify I'm speaking very specifically about his form under Kenny here before his cruciate gave out, At that point Mascherano had left the league, Essien was injured and on the way out, Carrick I'll give you but tbf I don't really see them as quite the same kind of player. As for Ramires/Barry we'll just have to agree to disagree, Barry had the better career, and Ramires had more strings to his bow, but at that point I would've definitely taken Lucas over either of them as a no. 6. If anything I think his closest competition was Alex Song at the time.
I know that sometimes there's a lot of revisionism about certain fan favourites, Lucas wasn't that great to start with and was a squad player long before the end. But I will stand by the fact that his knee injury cost him dearly. His peak was short lived, but for around a year I think he was genuinely world class. After his return to injury he went back to being a mid-table player at best though.
You could always count on Lucas to give 100% and play for the team. Great player and great guy
That's all we ask. You can forgive bad games, but not bad work ethic/attitude
B0ll0x, average player at best!
@@paulcavanagh1294 he would be in the team now 👍
Agreed !
In term of such ethics, attitude and passion for the team, my LFC midfield would be James M, Hendo, Lucas , Stevie
@davestinson2323 He's too slow for this team. But I agree we need someone like Lucus. But with more athleticism
I met him at the academy when I was 9 and honestly he couldn’t understand English he was smiling giving us young lads hugs and everything absolute Liverpool icon for me honorary scouser for sure! UNLUCKYYYYYYY I love the man.
A loyal legend. A true red from Brazil. 10 years in the club says everything.
YNWA Lucas👍
And won nothing when playing! Waste of space!
Love u Lucas, wish we had won a league with you.
Great interview. Lucas seems so humble and honest about his time at LFC .
I'm an Aussie who has been a Liverpool fan since 1978 and I feel like Lucas was like many other midfielders who were judged by Stevie's or Xabi's standards in that era and deemed wanting by many fans - only to then go on and have great careers for our club. Gave everything on the field for us and should be remembered as a terrific Liverpool player.
Absolutely loved Lucas and was gutted when he left, although we knew it was coming. A shame about the heart condition and that he had to retire as I'm sure he still had a lot to give in his last 9 months at Grêmio.
To me, he'll always be a legend, at the very least a cult hero and he was an excellent player at times. As well as a top guy.
One of the best tacklers & best CDMs we've ever had at LFC.
We love you Lucas!
That was a lovely interview. I have so much respect for Lucas especially after the tough start he had at Liverpool, he came through it all and proved many people wrong. It's amazing to think how many managers he played under at Anfield in that more chaotic time. I wish him and his family well for the future. 🙂
A great layer for Liverpool, unfortunately took some time for the fans to appreciate him, but the last few year very few people had anything against him.
A great player and a wonderful human being.
Thanks for all you gave to our club 🙏🏻
Lucas Leiva will forever be remembered. Incredible servant to the club.
i miss him….🥲…like really miss him….one of the longest serving player for Liverpool in the PL era…loyal aswell..
Fantastic comments by everyone. Shows how great our fans are, when we remember and love our past players.
It took a little while but once he settled in to his place in that midfield he was an amazing defensive mid who could single handedly switch direction of the flow of play down the middle, and naturally linked up with Stevies box to box beast that he was!
Loved you Lucas a warrior for us An always a positive mindset had a brilliant career at lazio after he left jsut showed how good he really was
Love love love and miss you Lucas. The brazillian scouser (before Greek scouser of course), Mr.reliable himself.. Such a devoted player. I hope he'd come back as a coach or other position for the club.
Always liked him as player. Great to see him again. All the best Lucas YNWA
One of my favourite players, that injury really stopped him being a great, those 6 months under King Kenny, he was on his way to the top. Dominating those Man City and Chelsea midfields. Glad he chose to retire once he had that heart issue.
Absolutely amazing interview and a great player such a shame injuries at the end ruined him as he really was having his best moment. Amazing person you can definitely see that
Nothing but love for Lucas
So humble. Loved Lukas 👏👌👍
2010 Lucas I will always remember - especially his match against MC Yaya Toure
Love this man. Absolute legend.
You need to look up what a legend means! This useless player wasn't good enough to lace the boots of our true legends!
Great guy. He was completely committed to our club and always gave everything...a true Red. Good luck in retirement 🔥YNWA🔥
Amazing hard working player; never complains , never make excuses and ever wiling to change and adapt for the club. Thank you Lucas for giving your all to us.
Always one of my favorites!
Every Liverpool fan i have met has always had good words to say about lucas leiva 👍 respect is earned, well done lucas ❤️
Great viewing, honest. Just great to listen too ❤
Top bloke is Leiva. A true CDM. Liverpool legend. 701 successful tackles in 247 games. That’s the 3rd highest tackles in Premier League history behind Gareth Barry and Gail Clichy. Insane numbers.
YNWA
Legend
Bloody love him. Great player and a top man by all accounts.
Love this guy. He was our best player right before his knee injury. Helped KK immensely that season.
Absolutely love Lucas...........A magnificent servant for our club and a helluva player to boot...............Really hope he has a long and wonderful retirement................YNWA Lucas👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Legend❤

Great guy and a smashing player
Legendary Lucas. YNWA❤
A fantastic player for the club! 😊
A super guy and a great servant for the club.
Love Lucas. Absolutely a legend of the club, happened to be a bit unluckeeeeeee.
Lucas Leiva - What a wonderful player- and even better person - All the comments about him from fans show that we appreciated and loved him- and he had the same feelings towards us and our Club. Cruel injuries when he was the best DM in epl by some distance. Lucas also 'reveals' from his perspective (as a player) what we, as supporters, feel about Rafa, Sir Kenny & Jurgen and the teammates he mentioned
Thanks Lucas for everything you did for LFC. Best Wishes for your future
More LFC fans wanted him gone, he always was a bang average player !
Love Lucas sm ❤️
Great servant to the club, top lad
Lucas is one of my favorite Liverpool back then #21
Lucas has the second most tackles in Premier League HISTORY, only Gareth Barry (English Alonso) has more and that's only since Barry's played 405 more games than Lucas. Lucas led the Premier League in tackles per game five times in six seasons between 2010 and 2016, he only missed out one year due to long-term injury. His work rate was crazy, always always always showed heart out there. He's also the Brazilian with the 3rd most Premier League appearances.
And how many of those tackles were fouls and gave the other team a free kick!? Leiva was useless!
@@paulcavanagh1294
Youve just seen the statistics,, which support most people's assessment of Lucas being a fantastic player for Reds. There is a separate category for "fouls conceded per season"- Lucas doesn't appear on it.- you're an idiot
As a Finn it was really nice to hear some Hyypiä appreciation :)
My sons middle name is Sami. After Hyypiä. And I'm from Ireland
I wanted Lucas as first name but his mother said no 😅
Top Player. Top man
What a great guy, loved the episode! YNWA
Amazing
Really enjoyed that.
" playing for Liverpool is a privilege...." sums it all. YNWA ❤❤❤ Lucas
❤ u Lucas from Thailand.
I Love Liverpool
One of are best defensive midfielders
My favorite LUCAS..
Massive respect to this player a great servant for the club. Was "unlucky" should of had a Derby winner and he was the best DM in the premier League before his injury in 2011.
B0ll0x
That assist to Emre will be remembered forever.. 😌
bloody nice chap
He had the best years under SKD playing as a cdm, really top class performance but it's a pity he then suffered a lot of injuries.
Unluuuuucckky my most favorite player ❤
Always liked Lucas...
I know he was not everyone's favourite in that era but he was actually my favorite player, I'd definitely put him in my 11
Lucas Leiva ❤ Brasil
What a lovely bloke. Proper cult hero and like Jan an adopted Scouser.
What a dude!
Turned in to a top player and what a great human being......unluckyyyyy
Fans were a bit harsh on the boy at first and we were all guilty of giving him stick at one time or another but once we seen he wasn't giving up we took him to our hearts and the boy done well. True red. YNWA
