So I decided to find better way. I didn't know it at the time but, that was the BEGINNING for me! I have been “FINDING A BETTER WAY” in all areas in my life ever since. Better ways of how to create a modern homestead affordably, and a better way to provide my family with healthy foods, and so….. much MORE!
At Lumnah Acres we hope our experiences can help guide you to find YOUR BETTER WAY! Please join us in sharing our journey with you, let us be a guide to Modern Homesteading, Self-Sufficiency, and FREEDOM for you!

Every home needs an Al, this guy can make and fix anything. You’re a lucky lady Gina.
Hahaha. My wife thinks I'm an Al, i gave her a list of the tools and toys I need to be an Al
It's been said that women prefer a man handy than a handy man. Not sure what truth there is to that! 🙂
@@samvalentine3206 hahaha... Sounds legit
I totally agree
@@samvalentine3206 And Gena has them both in Alcede....lucky woman !
Lumnah Acres is my all-time FAVORITE channel because, Al and Gina show us that ANYONE can do anything they put their heart and minds to.... One Step at a Time!
I would say the same. I set my alarm every morning for 6:00 to watch the new video.
Yes, I won't miss a video and I watch them over and enjoy it just like the first time. The Lumnah's are a amazing family!
Same here. I think they are decent people. Some UA-cam videos focus the camera on their behinds (butts) and fronts. Not my type.
I couldn’t agree more
And the Husband & Father of the Year Award goes to: Al Lumnah! Roasty, toasty toes 2.0. I like it!
Al, you can do everything! You are talented and hard working.
Think of how much all that installation work would have cost. Labor is always expensive on car repairs or installation.
Al , you are very detail oriented.
The reason they put you on those “special projects “ was because you have patience. If I was putting in that heater the video would be one long beep for the cussin.
me to !
🤣🤣I was thinking the exact same thing...he has the patience my Dad had...it’s a work in progress for most of us!!
Luke, you have me laughing so hard right now! ( :
Yup yup yup and yup !!!
That thing is NOT easy acess
Now, all you need is Windshield wipers. Added note: most of the time , I don't have a clue what you're doing, but, I'm absolutely fascinated while watching you. tyfs
LOL!! Your comment made me laugh!! At least you’ll never know if he goofs!!🤣 the windshield issue is that it’s not glass and any incident with the blades or arms could damage the material so...the defrosters and some rainX should meet their needs given the circumstances that they use the tank for.
@@keithrayeski3147 what did I tell you about being clueless? I rest my case LOL
@@sandyseas8355 🤣 I surrender!!🤣🤣👍🏻
NO!! , no Rainx, the lexan windshield will yellow, get something from the ATV shop, or on Amazon a product called S-100
They gave you the custom jobs because they knew your quality awareness, and therefore it would be done properly and correctly!
Make sure to clean up that coolant. Cats lick that stuff due to sweetness and it destroys their kidneys. Don't want Figaro to get sick!
They actually haven’t put that additive in coolant in over 20 years
You have the patience of Jobe! Very talented! Your family should be very proud of your ability to complete all of your tasks!
They gave you the custom work because you are a detail oriented person. You actually read and follow directions. Which is more unusual than you would think.
Yep your right most of us men try to do the job and if we fail then we RTFM (Read The F Manual)
The difference between technicians and our customers is that we RTFM (Read The... Fine, Manual).
Howdy from west Texas! Al, you are a man of many talents. Can only imagine the money you save your family with your ability to tackle so many projects!
Good Morning, that install looked so complicated to the non mechanical mind, I would not know where to start or finish. Great job. Merry Christmas to the Lumnah family and the viewers
I've read that if you can read, you can cook/bake. Same thing with mechanical things like Al is doing. Of course, it helps to be familiar with the class of thing you're reading about. To cook or bake, it helps to know your way around the kitchen. To do mechanical work, it helps to know your way around mechanical things, like vehicles and such.
Merry Christmas to you too.
Al you are one of the last tinker's I'm a retired tinker from Texas A&M agrilife research I loved my job. The ability to grasp and do many tasks is a gift from God and you definitely have it Al I love the quality of your work your girls are blessed to have you. Looking forward to seeing more awesome videos from Y'all. God bless your family and you.
Much peace and love from northeast Texas.
It reminders me of the time the dash of my son's car was meowing. Three hours later we got it back together and a new cat. Just a short version.
I have to ask what did you name the cat.... Dash?

Lol, I've had similar experiences 👍😊
Save the plastic cut outs for your plastic welding kit for repairs later.
My thoughts also!
Great job. Makes me think of my Dad. He could do anything. I loved working beside him and learning. He has been gone just over 4 years now. He was 84. There is never enough time.
Blessings as you and your family continue building your homestead.

Al your the greatest! I never knew anyone guy that could do so many different things. Handy to have around😀
Happy!!! I mean, MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!! I’m just so HAPPY to see this video!!!
The “Girls“ are going to be just as happy and overflowing with joy as your viewers and I are over seeing their last Christmas gift! 🎁 This is a heartfelt comment as I continue to watch the video. Nothing is too difficult for you, Al. You will conquer any challenge... and GET IT DONE! Thanks for sharing your family’s wonderful journey to self reliance on your homestead.
You sure know how to make a girl feel warm and happy! 😄🎁😊
Gooood morning from Coastal Georgia, Lumnah Acres, friends!
Stay Safe and be Warm and Healthy! Have an amazing day in the Lord.
All that work from the other day and now you have to take most of it apart. Heaters are worth the work tho lol. You never get overwhelmed and are always on go and I really admire you all. How Gina keeps up with you I don't know, but she is da bomb
Al you amaze me. Is there anything you can’t do? I sincerely admire the way you and Gina help each other. 👨👩👧
You are so good at doing everything. When I worked at things it seems like I never had a problem taking things apart, but nothing every went back together the way it should without a real fight. 😀
As a kid, in the 40's, pulled a watch apart. Got it back together . Not sure it would go, but was busted before.
Good morning Al, Gina, Olivia and all the animal 🐾🐾🐾 from a sunny 🌞 Port Elizabeth in South Africa at 13:12.
May you all have an awesome Friday and weekend filled with God's Love ❤💖, Grace, Hope, Joy and Blessings....
Good morning South Africa 🇿🇦
Good morning Al !!! Of course they gave you the custom jobs! With your attention to detail, work ethic, and positive nature, you are the custom guy! I always get a kick out of your modesty! Pshaw!!!😏💚
Al, you are amazing. And so patient. I would never even attempt to do what you just did with the Inferno Cab Heater, primarily because I would get frustrated and impatient with all the disassembly and reassembly. It's a great idea and you will love the result. Kudos to you. I would have just spent the money to have someone do it. No doubt that would have cost a fair amount of money, but I would have reduced my stress level by an amount far greater than the amount of money spent.
Can't wait to see the improved tank in action. The women folk will love it.
Gooood morning Al, Gina and Olivia. Top of the morning to the whole gang!
Goooooood morning
Morning G 😎
Good Morning, Lumnahs! I’m late again this morning. You’re one of those “can do anything” people. My dad was like that. I was usually right by his side watching, helping & learning. It took me a while to realize that all men are not like that. I knew more than a lot of the guys I knew. I used to ask for tools for birthdays & Christmas. I wish Olivia would take an interest. It would serve her well later in life. Glad you got the heater installed. Y’all will really enjoy that. I hope you didn’t have to edit out too much cursing. 😂 Stay warm & safe.
Blessings, Love & Hugs from Vicki in Ft. Worth, Texas 🇺🇸👍❤️🥰🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
I’m pretty sure Al wouldn’t cuss,....not in his nature.
All ya need now for the mule is windshield wipers and some running lights underneath. She'll be all decked out then. Lol.
God Bless y'all and have a great weekend!
don't forget the stereo sound system in quadraphonic
Tip for when using a hole saw on plastic, run it in reverse, it will bur less.
Good tip - thank you for that... but how much longer will it take to cut the hole?
@@samvalentine3206 depends on the thickness and type of the plastic. Drill the pilot hole normally, then switch to reverse. I used to install poly water tanks and this trick worked well for inlet pipes.
Thanks for that Mack....gonna give that a try!!👍🏻🇺🇸
Check cooling system bleed procedure in your service manual
They gave you the job because you have the patience of a saint.
From Spain I send you a greeting, I am a follower of your videos and I take this opportunity to congratulate you on this Christmas, Cidaros and thank you for your kindness for sharing your experiences. A cordial greeting.

P.S. I don't speak English, but I help myself with the google translator.
I've always loved doing jobs like that, however, at 68 it's not quite as much fun as it once was but I get a kick out of watching you and Andrew Camarata 👍😁.
I agree Gina, Al's a very talented man to have around. I'm happy you are so blessed.
Al, I fully enjoy watching & learning from your strategic approach to tasks that appear at first glance to require more than two hands to complete. As a mechanically inclined woman, I have found your step by step tutelage very helpful. I'm already dreaming up ways of heating my truck camper.
I'm also thankful for the disk brakes that you did on the car. I was disappointed when you lost footage when the camera battery died. I still like your precise comments. It gives me confidence to complete my own work.
The semi diesel shop gave you the custom work because you're so smart, Al. The stuff you do is pretty amazing.
Good morning everyone! I made it( stayed awake) to 8 pm! I’m stoked! Al, please tell Gina and Olivia that they have the most beautiful hair colors! 🤩🤩👍🏾😃

Fun tutorial.... next project...wipers
(If you don't have them). Hahaha! Glad you're so handy, because that job would have cost..
Thanks for sharing your journey and God bless you and your family.
Gina, I had no idea that cake doughnuts could be baked. I am going to try this soon. Thanks for the wonderful cooking ideas.
The goat spitting and noise sound before he wines and dined his lady friend is hilarious...
Al: "They always gave me the custom work. I don't know why." Well, it is OBVIOUS to all of us, Sir Al. You are AH.MAY.ZING with your ability to tackle a tough job and work it through to a perfection completion. You take time to understand what's gonna be needed and what's gonna happen (except for errant nail guns - Ha!), then proceed to "work your plan." Admirable, indeed!
Great job Al On the hose You put the T into it goes a thermostat there is a Bleed screw on top of the housing Just below the oil filler cap if you losing it the air should come out
When the snow gets deep. You might want to bring along a groomer for a smooth ride. It also fills in the lumps and bumps. Nice job on the heater. Now I feel snug just watching your videos.
that could be another build video
Al, you will be able to build your own mule if that one ever breaks down on you. Love you Gina and Olivia and all your critters
Rain x type protections only really shed water when you do 40mph. Low speeds will just bead. I use similar on my SUV
Hey Al, I am glad you filmed the install as my wife learned how the heating and defrosting work in a vehicle. Thanks!
Gooooood morning Lumnah family its 3 am were I'm at glad I can start my day with your content
Hey Al, you know the gaps in back of the cab doors, we live in Texas and when it gets below 32 degrees we have to insulate our pipes we use a type of black insulation that is exactly like a pool noodle Al, it's just different sizes, widths and diameters for what you need and it's already cut open down one side so you can just slip it on and we use either zip ties or that foil foam tape around it. But in your situation zip ties are best to match everything on the mule Al and I bet you can find it at you local hardware store, Walmart, or even Amazon would have it! Good Christmas Gift for your family Al! 🎄🎅☃️HAVE A MERRY CHRISTMAS & A HAPPY NEW YEAR! ☃️🎅🎄 Your Fan From Texas, Mac👊😎🤙
Congratulations on reaching 250.000 Subs, Al Gina and Olivia !!! Well done and most deserved!
Thank you!
Hey Al.
I know of some cars that need to be lifted up at the front by 30 degrees to get the air out of the passenger cell heater system, (BMW 5series with big engines)
so if you place the mule at a steep spot, front up, maybe even rear or sideways IDK(depends on how the tubes are placed) and give it a few seconds with a good throttle in neutral and warm engine, it might blow the air out of the system.
You can also try to loosen the highest connection in the system a bit when it's hot and under pressure, if the other method didn't work out.
Try it, you cannot loose anything.
24 years ago since he was taken so early from us. You have to follow your dream. It’s lovely to watch the Lumnahs following their dream. I’ve learned a lot from the videos and have an allotment now so can put some of it into practise. Look forward to watching their progress.
You are a Jack of all trades. Love how you just roll up your sleeves and dive in. Thanks for another great video.
I am so glad you got some heat in the mule!! Yeah! I bet the girls love it! There is a possibility of getting more snow here in central Pennsylvania. The two feet we currently have is plenty! Good morning everyone.😃 🙋
Have a blessed day!
Hopefully it stays for Christmas
@@LumnahAcres - exactly. Nothing quite like snow on the ground on December 25th!
Al, you are a jack of all trades. I had to laugh when you said you worked as a diesel mechanic. My husband was a diesel mechanic working at Caterpillar here in MN. For the last 20 years, he has been teaching diesel mechanics at Hennepin Technical College. His program has an internship where the students work in a shop while going to school. Diesel mechanics are in high demand.
You never cease to amaze me in your past professions
Here in the UK our first 4x4 vehicle was a 1951 Series 1 Land-Rover. The optional extra in that vehicle was the heater, so this addition to the Mule brings back memories of a heater that worked, but with the canvas top on the old Series 1, it really only got the immediate area lukewarm. 🤣
Yep Al, you are like my late husband was. A man who can do just about anything and everything. Gina and I are/were lucky ladies indeed! Glad you got heat now, I know you will get the "burps" out and it will work great for you guys, keeping you toasty warm while cruising the new land. The Rain X will definitely help the windshield.
Rain-X suggester lady here, thanks for shout-out. LOL 😆 (Not affiliated with them, btw, the product is just good.) Wow, a lot involved in this heater installation, but a much needed upgrade where it gets really cold & snowy. I always admire people who can do handy modifications, build stuff, etc. My abilities are somewhat limited, but I do enjoy watching the process. 🙂
Gina, if you want warm boots, get some Sorel boots. Mid-range price or higher, avoid the cheap ones. It's what all the women in the frozen north wear. In extreme cases, add a heat pack. ☺️
Of the radiator is in the front, jack up the front and open the cap so the air bubbles will hit the high point( open radiator neck)
You are probably right Al...we called it burping the system...its air locked...
Thank you for sharing ❤️

Hello Al, enjoy hearing about your previous experiences as a diesel mechanic. When doing this kind of install work oh, would you mind telling us more about your employment history and what you've done in the past? It certainly helps us understand why you do so many things well. I'd like to think, if you can do this from a kit, many of us could too? Old Dave from Michigan.
There's a vent on the thermostat housing to let the air out
I don't know for sure about this particular vehicle, but that should be right. It sometimes can be a p i t a to get all the air out.
Yea...I don’t think this system is equipped that way...might be a good after market idea!!
I'd elevate the front of the mule on either ramps or an incline so that the air can escape upward while the engine is running.
Air bleeder on the thermostat housing
Enjoyed today’s content. I have had good luck getting airlock out of cooling systems by raising the radiator cap above the heater core by driving on ramp or hill.
Al , you love to build build and build more !!!! This is new . Seeing you I quite feel that you are really loving what you do !!!!!
Don't you hate it when a "simple" install becomes a major crusade. i thought you were lost as i watched the mule being dismantled! But you did a first class bang up install, well done my friend! well done! ! As l watched, I realized why I have NOT installed all the a. c. duct work in my Imperial!!! (lol)
You have such knowledge and talent! Tools and supplies in your hands and you can do anything!👍
That explains why this was so easy for you. I would never attempted such a project, but you were a diesel mechanic! “I like it”. Your family is so blessed! Please say hello to your “Girls” for me. Thank you.
Al, at the 27.25 mark if you look to your right you can see the coolant Recovery/Refill tank. As the engine cools and reheats it will level off. Just like your car and truck does
You got it - and as you know, you have to top off the radiator so that when the coolant contracts, it will pull it from the recovery tank. Otherwise it can get air in there and not function correctly.
Good Morning Al. Still dark hear at 6 am , in Jamaica .
Morning Jamaica 🇯🇲 still dark here

I am impressed at your mechanical abilities. Good job
Good morning from southwest Florida

Thanks
I admire you why becouse you can fix build repair you are phenomenal blessing always from fort worth tx violet medrano.💪💪👏👏
Enjoyed the video. Tip: Leave the radiator cap off when you bring the engine to operating temperature. It will keep the system from being pressurized and allow the air to escape. Then, fill the radiator and overflow tank. If the overflow tank isn't to the cold/hot full line, then when the system cools off, it will pull air back into the system.
Good Morning!! Hit by 14" of snow yesterday. Happy Friday!!
We've been lucky here in the midwest. No snow yet.
Yea...we got 14 plus....first time I’ve used the drift cutters on my snowblower in a very long time!! Looks like the Old Farmers Almanac blew it this year!!
Good morning all. The heat is really going to add to the pleasure of trips in the mule. Great job.
Wow. That’s amazing! Love your channel!!! Love watching all the projects!!!
You guys should have a t-shirt that says “I Like It!” Al says this a lot.
BAM or BOOM works too!!😁👊🏻
With Al's face and him giving a thumbs up. I would buy it!
Need his and hers, Gina also says “I like it”
One of Al saying “I like it.”
And one of Gina saying “I don’t like it. It makes me nervous.” With Al in the background on a ladder. She hates when he is up high. 🙂
Iv started saying this myself😁
Al , you are a man of many talents. I don't know of anyone else who can do it all like you! Love and Zen hugs from Texas!
Good How-To, Al. Suggestion from experience - When summertime or warmer weather rolls around, you may want o install a shut-off valve on your heater box 'inlet' water line. If you do not, the natural flow-through ventilation will probably make it hotter than normal in cab area. You could install back by the 'Y' at the engine, or up near the heater box...whichever is easier.
I am amazed at the jobs you take on.
I’d love to See your job résumé posted for us. It would be interesting
Watching you work on this project and hearing you say you worked on diesel engins early on made me think of Matt at Dresel Creek. Do not know if you have seen him on FB or if you have time to view many other creators, but I recommend him. I know next to nothing about diesel engines and just a little about automotive as in early maintenance taught by my dad, but I enjoy this channel.
Good Friday mornin New Yolk City .... yep, that heater is a nice addition! Have a great weekend AL, Gina & Olivia ... take care
Awesome job Al. I had just posted on an earlier video asking about heat in the mule! Also, get yourself a deburring tool. For as much as you customize and make things, it will help clean your holes when you modify/build something.
It is great that those tracs raised your mule high enough to get under and work comfortably!
Good morning, Al! Well, that's gotta be good news all around! Have a great weekend 😀
That's a fancy pants side-by-side you now got Al
Really liked that install, you showed pretty much all the steps for install and it made total sense and would be helpful for others.. Sometimes your builds make no sense till they are nearly finished and are hard watching because you don't explain what you are attempting to do so it's hard to understand and enjoy watching.
The start of the latest composting outhouse is a good example. I was totally lost till you explained that it was a plan from Jamaica Cottage Shop and that's why the walls were so low... maybe a drawing, sketch or a bit of explanation at the start would have helped me as a viewer grasp the concept instead of being left confused.
I do enjoy watching the channel but sometimes when there is a lot of woodcutting with no talking about what's going on that can get a little bit boring to watch. that said I do appreciate the effort.
Amazing! Something that probably would have taken me a week to do and you get it done in less than 30 minutes. Great job!! You do fantastic work. Excellent video.
Nice install Al. I'm with Gina, when my feet get cold the fun is OVER.
Al you are definitely a Jack of all trades! A true inspiration for the rest of us DIY'RS! Great video! God bless you and your family!
Great job Al, all ya need now is windscreen wipers & a plough kit up front to clear the roads on the off grid soon to be beaverless acres
Never ceases to amaze me how positively you enter a job. Even if you've never done it before. Blessings to all.
Al inspired me. I'm working on my snowblower. I discovered I need a carburetor gasket. I can repair it myself. I have the tools and I know how to GOOGLE! LOL

That was cool the places you worked. I grew up south of Detroit in a city called Woodhaven.
