4:40 when achiles steps out of his tent in the illiad.
HECTOOOOOORRRRR
River: oh shit not again
he’s like: mommy i have a destiny to fufill
Has anyone done a cut of the movie Troy with the Hades soundtrack?
Feels like a natural fit.
Nah, when he put on his new armour from Hephaestus
the metal part of this track sounds like it would be worthy of an awesome boss on the level of Asterius and Hades but it went to the pink butterfly spraying ball of magic fluff
And those guys are more lethal than Asterius will ever be. God I hate them so.
@@cathalmurray6007 I rarely even blow a familiar summon on Asterius when he's by himself. the butterfly ball though, he always gets it.
How tf butterfly ball is hard? It's like the easiest miniboss, except for blodless from tartarus and the barge
@@viktorkudriavtsev830 not saying it's particularly hard, you just need to blow all your firepower on it early on bedore it spawns too many of its buddies, the ones can snipe you from a distance and are notoriously hard to kill with the two blue hearts pact active.
by contrast, Asterius can pretty much be dodged forever if you know his moves.
Hence why the ball gets summon-bombed instantly, whereas with Asterius it's very optional and best saved for last.
@@viktorkudriavtsev830 It's not that hard, but depending on what weapon you're using, Heat on that run and just how lucky you are with boons, those butterflies can overwhelm you pretty easily if you don't pay attention to them, easiest way to stop that is just wail on the ball right away. IT's not that it's hard, so much as a potential big threat if you don't tackle it right,
I have the sudden, inexplicable urge to strafe a colosseum with miniguns while laughing maniacally.
With or without the mask
I thought you where talking about the rail at first.....then I got to extreme measures for them
@@thebaseandtriflingcreature174without, duh. Who would wear that joke?
This is my favourite track to fight Theseus/ Asterius to. Hearing "No Asterius!" as the bull falls is really cool when it happens at 7:07, and you get the croud chanting Zagreus.
I've only fought Extreme Measures Theseus once, I might need a mix that works that back in. There's just so much going through my head during a run that I can't notice the music.
You fiend! He was his friend!
Interesting. I've never been able to defeat Asterius before Theseus. His spear is such a pain for me I have to throw everything I have to get rid of him first before I can deal with the Bullman.
@@spuriouslathos2518 it isn’t too hard to dodge once you get the timing down. Just pay attention to how deep of a pink the reticle on Zag is and Theseus basically becomes nonexistent for the first half of the fight as you get rid of Asterius. Or you could just get some Athena boons
I never take down Asterius first. I just focus on Theseus to get that bastard to shut the hell up while poor Asterius ends up becoming Cast fodder and collateral damage.
A little lore, the word 'Myrmidon' actually means "a follower or subordinate of a powerful person, typically one who is unscrupulous or carries out orders unquestioningly." While I don't doubt that Asterius and Theseus will carry out Hades' will of blocking the exit, the word basically means they follow every command and whim even to their death.
I think in the Iliad a Myrmidon was specifically a greek soldier in Achilles's army camp
@@warasdf6716 correct! also myrmidons are the best initial class jobs in any Fire Emblem game, come @ me
It's also the root for "ant". There is a story about Zeus creatting the first pythians (where Achilles is from) soldiers out of ants
@@michaellevesley3578 I'm almost positive you're correct, when referring to Age of Mythology that is (the soldier ants thing)
@@lowestCommonDenominator I can tell who your favorite sacred stones character is..
2:45 onward, the acoustics get me every time. My favorite Elysium battle track for sure :)
I need a full song of the bit from 7:10 to 7:45, it's SO GOOD
The whole soundtrack is amazing, but that specifically, *whew*
in the name of hades I accept this song
oh my GOD ITS HAPPENING.
Oh my GODS right ;)
I really love imagining the heavy metal part with Asterius charging and chasing you around the colosseum.
God the last few seconds of this song are fucking magical
A pure, unadulterated adrenaline rush that just screams "give me more"
4:41 when Odysseus reveals himself to the suiters
7:09 breaks my heart ;_;
Yours and mine alike mate, suddenly there's this hugely emotional part in the middle of this overbearing theme, plus the titular myrmidons, are likely to be Achilles and Patroclus, which would definitely fit their uneasy relationship
Haven’t played yet but already bought the soundtrack. Straight fire. This track is my favorite.
Thanks Supergiant for updating the soundtrack to include the new songs
Thanks Supergiant for featuring their new album in some weird game
for those trying to get the time signature:
At around 2 minutes it's alternating 13 and 11. Like
1234-123-12-12-12
1234-123-12-12
1234-123-12-12-12
1234-123-12-12
the transition is in 7 with some 4 to go into the next section. It's a slow 8 time but subdivided into 3+3+2
*The numbers, Mason, what do they mean?*
The time signatures kinds express running out of time
That's right. There are also these two other mixed signatures:
0:19 6/4
1:10 7/4 + 6/4
However, the main riff, like you said goes:
0:40 7/8 + 6/8 + 7/8 + 4/8
I just discovered something kinda crazy about the alternating 13 and 11 riff! You know how the opening of the song is in 6/4 (0:19)? Well, 13 + 11 gives you 24/8 right? That reduces to 12/4 which, wouldn't you know it, is just two bars of 6/4. That being said, I would still feel, play and write that particular riff as a 13/8 + 11/8 mixed time sig.
This song makes me feel like if I could 1v1 the Sun
@@williamwareham7027 maybe UwU
I'm literally crying to this track. So Beautifully done.
ngl when i got this in game i did it for achilles (and patroclus) because i went HEY HE IS ONE he will love THIS
One of my favorite song in the game, keep putting it when i'm the house of hades
Same. I also like putting on the instrumental version of In The Blood.
You are the best Darren Korb
Congrats on Version 1.0!
That's some Rip & Tear right there!
So ready! Can't wait to boot this game up. The soundtrack is awesome, you peeps always nail it with the tunes.
You guys made me think this was the 1.0 trailer! Can't wait!
They did just release 1.0 tho my dude
@@yungoldman2823 I saw! Already bought it on the switch! Double dip!
Spotify when, this is one of the greatest video game soundtracks of all time!
The entire OST has been on Spotify since v1.0 launched , or at least here in the States.
The true rage of the Myrmidons is whenever Patroclus is forced to interact with Theseus
haha jk I'm sad about Patrochilles till the day I die
This has got to be my favourite track from Elysium.
stunning as always
Amazing 13/8! heard it in game and had to search it up.
I'll never get tired of 13/8.
The main riff actually uses a mixed metre of 13/8 and 11/8. However, the section first played at 1:10 uses 13/4 (7/4 + 6/4).
this is some gud quality shit right here my dudes, Supergiant Games earned my respect
I hope they also post the versions of the song where it’s just the bass. I really liked those versions too 🥺
I agree...
one of my favorite video game OST!
This track rocks! Congrats on the v1.0 release! ;)
Probably my favorite song in the game right next to God of the dead and unseen ones
2:35 best part
This time signature go crazy
There are multiple. Copied from my other comment:
0:19 6/4
0:40 13/8 + 11/8
1:10 7/4 + 6/4 (13/4 if you want, but clunky to write it that way)
2:47 4/4 with a hemiola in the bass line
I know you have given me so much with the game and the amazing OST but i need to ask for two last things: i need the time signature and the guitar tunning cause i really wanna make a cover of this song
It fluctuates alot! It seems to jump around a little but the parts like 0:40 seem to be in 13/8! Pretty cool. The rest of the song is mostly in 6/8 but there's a few transitional 4/4 areas and 2:47 seems to be in 8/8.
I read about a horizontal hemiola and it feels it so I guess not a consistent time
@@iStalkCheese These are the time signatures used for each section of the song. They repeat over and over but it's always the same.
0:19 6/4
0:40 13/8 + 11/8
1:10 7/4 + 6/4 (13/4 if you want)
2:47 4/4
@@sjacpswbs03162005 They're most likely referring to the section at 2:47 which does use a hemiola in the bass line however that section is entirely in 4/4. And yes, you're right, this song uses multiple time signatures: 6/4, 13/8 + 11/8, 6/4 + 7/4 and some 4/4 in the transitions between sections.
7:09 , 7:33 this is too much emotions i can’t take it.
Supergiant, you guys *NAILED IT* yet again with the music!
Your soundtracks are up there with the likes of Yasunori Mitsuda (Chrono Trigger/Chrono Cross) and Toby Fox (Undertale/Deltarune).
This sounds so cool! I love it!!!👏👏👏👏🤩🤩🤩🤩
The one dislike was hades
Nah, probably Demeter.
Yeh
Hades vibes to metal lmfaoo
I wonder if this will play in Elysium??
It plays in some encounters in Elysium! That guitar riff will always get me
As soon as it hits that point at 7:10 all I hear is pure deftones
"Asterius. Other Guy."
Sound like the Battle of Myrmidon Soldiers, I have to say! Oh, there was a demigod named Myrmidon who was son of Zeus and Eurymedusa.
More fun when you play the two music sections at the same time.
7:09 reminds me so damn much of floods by pantera, i have to know if that was an influence
Doesn't this song kind of remind you of L's theme?
Elysium
Oh, absolutely!
The time signature alone gives that feeling, but also some instruments and their chord progression.
(At least for the chill half)
@@milescook1297 L-ysium
I get Weapons Factory from Super Mario RPG vibes with this time signature 👌
I've beaten the game several times and don't recall hearing this at all? I only recall ever hearing The Exalted. In fact, I didn't know there were multiple tracks for each sector??? Does the Switch version just lack tracks or something?
I've made 4:40 to 5:40 my ringtone and alarm cuz it's just to well made not to
Reminds me of Death Note
Holy shit yea
The standard version of this song is kinda weak in my opinion.
But the BOSS VERSION ROCKS
0:42
This track is soo what if you are greek But also A Metal head. Its so ME
OPAA
I love this music almost as much as I loathe Theseus.
Teseu theme 😎
1:31 maybe? Maybe??? MAYBE??? NO!… 2:40 yeah? Maybe maybe? MAYBE? YEAAAAHHHHH UGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Yall hear L's theme?
Kinda wish the tracks were divided into Light and Heavy variants rather than medleyed.
Well, you can always just split them :)
Annokh on Spotify I can’t :p
Does anyone know the time signature for this? It doesn't feel like a 4/4 but I'm really bad at finding them
I'm trying to figure that out myself. It sounds like the following:
00:20 - 00:40 6/4
00:40 - 01:39 7/4 for one measure, then 6/4 for another, then repeats
01:39 - 01:59 back to 6/4
01:59 - 02:47 back to alternating 7/4 and 6/4
02:47 - 03:25 now it's in 4/4
03:25 - 03:56 back to 6/4
03:56 - 04:42 back to alternating 7/4 and 6/4
04:42 - 9:17 metal version
@@agouta1011 Wow, it changes way more than I had anticipated, but your analysis does make a lot of sense! Thank you so much, I wouldn't have been able to figure this one out by myself at all!
@@leidensygdom5291 np
@@leidensygdom5291 at 0:40 - 1:39 (my fav part) i think goes like this:
0:40 alternating 13/8 and 11/8
1:10 alternating 7/4 and 6/4
1:31 4/4
@@agouta1011 0:40 is 13/8 + 11/8. 13/8: 12, 12, 123, 12, 12, 12 + 11/8: 12, 12, 123, 12, 12.
Then at 1:11, the time signature has actually changed to a much simpler 13/4 which can be counted as 7/4 + 6/4. Other than that, your analysis is correct.
what bossfight is this? i don't recall
One of the songs that could play v Theseus and Asterius.
It has a chance to play anywhere in Elysium, as with the other Elysium songs (I.e. the King and the Bull)
