So many uptempo and booting fast song yet he never wavered rock solid! I am quite new to MC5 but have watched a number of their live clips, this man's stamina was ridiculous! RIP Dennis!
Bye, Dennis. Fred Sonic Smith still lives in my heart and soul of rock and roll. Great nights at the Grande. MC5, Stooges (org. The Psychedelic Stooges...last Iggy and the Stooges), The Rationals, The Up, and so many more. I'm 78 and still listen to all the oldies but goodies. Rock On!

I am crushed, we lost Wayne in February, now Dennis, I haven't got the words, I just know it's like a sword in my heart
He was really something, sitting back, looking cool and beating out the beat with one of the greatest bands ever.
Rest in musical peace.

I met dennis,he sat in with my band at a club in a wyandotte.
Then i worked at a mach.shop.he was day shift, i was aftrnoon,same dept.(early 80s)
I think of Dennis Thompson and John Densmore similarly: superb drummers whose playing is interesting and exciting, always serving the song.
❤❤Dennis machine gun Thompson !! I salute you ! ❤❤
kick out the jams
Rip dog and hope it was good
They NEVER got any air play here you needed to see them live like Savoy Brown
They got air play on WABX same as the Stooges. This was before radio went corporate. They even played kick out the jams unedited.
Sad how the pla e where so mych energy and fun happened was completely destroyed and nobody even knows of the footprints of time left 😢
He NEVER mailed it in.. the footage at the Beat Club is killer . They were the band your parents warned you about~
I'm going to say let it rock. Is the best version by Wayne and fred.
This is the song The Dead Kennedys pilfered so they could write "Let's Lynch The Landlord". Shoulda sued 'em.
Great and influential player but not in the earliest version.
If you had any doubt about how bogus the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is…
You bet, No Jethro Tull, no Grand Funk Railroad. MC5 never sold out the Forum in Los Angeles three nights in a row, Tull did.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is scam.
@itjustlookslikethis
I grew up with Grand Funk and MC5. Tull was another level. One of my favorite prog rock bands.
