Could you imagine if people stopped mowing places like that all across farm country. We’ve lost so much habitat with modern agriculture practices. Good story!

Sounds like Dad created a fantastic picture to convince the Buck that he was just another Deer. This was a great video. Could still hear the excitement in his voice years after.🦌🇺🇸🙏

Very cool! Your Dad was so pumped. I could see you trying to calm him down, during the interview. Too funny. But he would have none of it. Which is so just. Good stuff. Really good stuff.
Little 5 acre parcels can hold some big deer. I have one myself. Farmland across the street. Plantted some blue spruce, red pine other conifer trees, 20 years ago or so, with my Dad, when he was alive. The trees are growing up pretty good. Most of them. And because of the surrounding area around my five acres. The big boys have been coming in over the last 3 years or so. Especially during velvet rub down, beginning of rut, and/or You could call a lockdown time, disappearance time. However you want to classify it. Had a 10 point walk by my picture window, when I came in to get a cup of coffee. Before that I was in the garage, with the radio playing, ripping some trim for a side job. Freaking buck walked 5 ft off the side of my deck. There is a story that goes with that I won't tell, in this comment, too long. Anyways, over the last few years, trees and other things are growing into a very comfortable habitat, especially for deer. And I got the farm land across the street. Where they constantly rotate crops, just for deer. My story and I think probably your story, pay attention to your surroundings. Landscapes change, and the big boys are always looking for sanctuaries.
In my case, I also think, they have watched me, know my habits / routines, along with the habitat changing, and feel very comfortable in my backyard.
I passed on two shots(proper reasons) last year. But, I'm going to do my damness this year, to be much more on top of their habits. So as I can get the clean, kill shot, I'm looking for.
Zack, that is so cool, You have to be pretty damn proud of your Dad, and golly g, your Mom also. Awesome story! Really good stuff, good to see, and probably happens more than people know. And even more don't even realize how close they are to a wall hanger!!!😏

Hey Zach, Congratulations to your dad that was an awesome hunt right there at home super nice buck!! It don't take a lot of land to take a good deer. If you get a chance do a Video slug gun hunt with your 20 gauge that would be awesome! You and your 20ga is a living legend in Turkey season you put them down with that little 20ga ! great video !! 👍

Excellent video that many can relate to. Allowing the open areas to be reclaimed by prairie and forest, as well as thinning our woods a bit has helped make our land more appealing to the local woods creatures. Doing all we can on 7.35 acres. Thank you for the great content.

Cool thanks for sharing. I have a small peace of property that I let grow up. It was a field when I got it. Didn't hunt it for roughly 5 years. It was amazing how it transformed into a bow hunter's dream. I have learned so much about deer hunting by doing so. Just priceless. O ya when u guys are in western n.y. if you want to there's 9 kinds of public to hunt . Interstate 86 390 split from there all the way back west as far as Salamanca it's riddled with it. Would love hunt with y'all. I have been subscribed to the hunting public from the beginning love you guys stuff learned boat loads from watching you guys do your stuff. Meny thanks to guys.

Congrat thats so cool I had a target buck come in 30 minutes before shooting light right up to the tree this past season . I had him day lighting at about 830 but that morning I had a small tree beside me as I was putting my sticks on .So as I was going up I was shaking that tree and I know thats what brought him in so early bc h came right to me. I didn't get him that morning but i did get the wide 9. Sent my son in the next morning same tree same thing and he killed the nontypical 9 that come to the tree shaking .

Cool story. Awesome buck congrats. To put things in perspective 😊 if someone wants to hunt a small parcel they should make sure that their neighbors are ok with them retrieving a deer on their property ahead of time. I know of two neighbors down the road from me that each own 5 acres and no longer speak to each other. One doesn't hunt on his parcel because he didn't feel it was big enough to hunt. The other hunted his parcel right on the property line and every year would ask to retrieve a deer when it went onto his neighbors. The guy that didn't hunt his finally had enough and told him no.

I shot my biggest buck to date in a 3 acre patch of scrub, 30 yards off the road at my wife's homefarm (now my brother-in-law's farm) in 2015. Justin Bieber's farm is only a mile away (we're from Stratford, Ontario) and he had gotten into some trouble with the police at the time, driving his ATV around full of piss and vinegar. So I called this deer "the Bieber Buck" because he was also caught chasing females around in Perth East with a bad hairdo.
