As someone who has been passing friends with a Ukrainian or two and done some history work on the region before all of this occurred, I feel there's a silver lining to all of this: the rest of the western world finally gets to see that unyielding resolute Ukrainian spirit I love about them so much. Ukraine isn't just some random Slavic country anymore nobody knows anything about. We could learn so much from these brave and hardy souls.

Morale plays a massive role in battles. The odds are greater against the invaders because the Ukrainians are fighting for their homeland and sovereignty while the Russians are fighting because they were lied to by their leaders. Long live the Ukrainian brave defenders!
But never forget about half of the population where Russia is invading are Russians and other ethnicities that support Russia. Not taking sides, just facts.
If the peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine break down and Russia starts using actual advanced weaponry instead of just small recon ground forces i would love to see what morale can do. I doubt morale can save you from short range ballistic missiles being fired from 800km away when you have no Air defense systems left. Can Morale save you from hundreds of planes bombing you when you have no air defense systems left operational. When you have no aviation whatsoever and even if you did you don't have any functional airports left since they were all blown up on the very first day of war can morale help you then? You can't take down planes with ak rifles no matter how much morale you have is my opinion.
We shall see in the coming days.

I have participated in two wars in my lifetime. My experiences changed my entire person (who i AM). There isnt a day that goes by that I dont feel or think of those days and it isnt a BAD thing.....it made me realize what good and bad REALLY are. In school I learned about war in history class, and it was an open and shut synopsis of what "happened". Numbers, location, etc.. It never occurred to me growing up that my grandpas, Uncles never talked about their experiences. Now pushing 50 I know that its better off to keep the daily influence as a "feel", as any reminder can become a "thinking" period. I am proud to be an American and am not "anti-war", but want to say that THIS is an example to all of humankind why war must be prepared for and skills taught in peacetime to our own children, because there may be a time where they have to defend themselves and way of life against an aggression that is insanely unprovoked. When the invasion started I saw a news clip showing Ukrainian citizens leaving their homes to avoid the fighting and saw a young lady carrying her pet white cat in her arms, and it disgusted me so bad that I had to turn off the TV and it made me curse Russia and Putin for starting this all. It made me "think" and kick the dust off my memories and for ANYBODY who reads this and has or hasnt seen war, know this or be honest with yourself: all normalcy goes out the window....good becomes bad and bad becomes "good". Its just a damn shame it happened but when it happens like this, as for me personally, I can only hope and pray that the Ukrainians keep resisting and that the rest of the world wakes up and sends weapons to them....not just prayers. I hope this BULLSHIT ends sooner than later
