It is completely chemical free (Unless corn/grains, rocks, and water are "chemicals"). I'd like to adapt it to prawns, but they are really territorial and like carnivorous foods which require more inputs. What I'm saying is: Aquaculture is a developing field. Don't write it off completely just yet.

The plant waste and scraps go to the bugs, and the bugs go to the fish. The liquid waste from the bugs is used as fertilizer for the dirt garden. Unlike the approach in this video, my system of integrating plant and fish culture could continue in the same spot for years with no negative environmental effect. The inputs are commercial feed, seeds, and water to replace evaporation. The outputs are fish and plants. I hope that clears it up for you. Elizabeth Greene

Over this side of the pond wild prawns can be bought from Frozenfishdirect, different, and far superior taste than the tiger. Read the book by Taras Grescoe called " Bottomfeeder" it will open your eyes to the factory farming methods of prawns and salmon.
I'd like to say that any intelligence that they may or may not have, needs not enter the equation : suffocation causes almost infinite pain, and no creature should ever be subjected to it. It is an absolute atrocity and we must cease it immediately !!

Aquaculture hasn't been written off by me, but most are run to filthy standards.Tilapia ARE carnivorous like prawns.Food contains fish meal and fish oil about 25%-30% respectively the rest being replaced by plant proteins, but carnivorous fish dont naturally feed on plants and have anti-nutritional effects on fish.I could go on about depleting fish stocks , will save that
How can you say this. It is a fact that shrimp farming impact the environment in a negative way. Mangroves cut for creating these ponds were crucial to shelter juvenile fishes, crabs, wading birds, etc... a protection for shorelines, etcc. You really need to learn the truth MY FRIEND!
All looks good on paper, but what about the real world?Over use of chemicals and prawns bred in filthy fetid water, not to mention the eco balance of the enviroment.This all makes prawn farming the worst of all the factory farming, and that includes battery bred chickens!
lol, you sir need to read and understand Philippine history, study the global economic status of marcos time. Most political critics deduced that our economic entity would have been high if marcos was not stopped, "there is no IFs in history" but this is their study. What Mr./Mrs./Ms. comatoast911 is only saying that the Philippine economic prosperity both the country and its residents would still have been in its best. ex-president Marco's tyrannic approach to the country is a different issue.
Cooking shellfish is the most cruel and barbaric act imaginable. These people should experience what is like to be boiled to death. Totally disgusting!
