Yep, grandpa was a storyteller. Back in the day, we didn't have all the electronics to keep kids busy so we had a lot of time to listen to the adults talk when all the families gathered together. Our family was large enough that Gpa rented the local VFW for holiday gatherings when all the aunts and uncles brought their entire families for a great meal and an afternoon of playing with our cousins and listening to all the stories.
Grandpa was a smart man and he got good use of all three blades. Still some mileage left on them, but you wouldn't use it as much, because of the heritage. Thank you Tom.
Great video Tom!! It’s so nice that you have a treasure like that from grandpa! Your holding a piece of his history his story ! He used that knife well, and now you can treasure it!
I didn't get any of my grandfather's knives or tools when either of them passed away. I do have a couple of 6318 case stockman knives that are within the last 20 years. Very cool knives. Enjoy your treasure brother Tom
You're welcome, MB! Certainly has history to it, and I enjoy breaking it out every now and then. The memories come flooding back when I'm holding it. Thanks for watching, my friend. Keep charging!
Hey Tom, That’s a real treasure!! So great that you’ve got his knife ❤️👊🏻 And he obviously had good taste…. What a beauty 🔥🔥🔥 That bone!!!😍😍😍 Fantastic video brother! Hope you’re having a great weekend… catch you soon 😎🙏🏻
I have a large toothpick with the same bone and approximate age as your grandfather’s knife His knife is a beauty It’s great to have something from our forefathers I have Grandpa’s 870 Wingmaster the Plumb Boy Scout Hand Axe Dad gave me when I joined the Scouts and my great grandfather’s cross pein hammer He was a blacksmith These things I treasure as I know you treasure that 18
You have some very wonderful treasures, Terrill. Isn't it great to pick them up? The memories come flooding back. Thanks for watching, my friend. God bless.
I wish I had my grandfathers knife. We did a lot of work together and I have most of his tools but his knife his knife was nowhere to be found. He carried a camp knife. I found one that was close to what he had and carry it every once in a while.
It is my understanding that in the late 60's and very early 70's Case would sometimes use synthetic scales but still keep the "6" (bone) in the pattern number. I have a small equal-end Case pen knife from 1973 with scales that look exactly like your grampa's knife. I'm 90% certain that it is bone and, after seeing your video, maybe even a little higher than that. (I've looked at it under magnification but still not 100% sure.) Regardless, it really looks great.
It's hard to tell the difference between bone and delrin sometimes, but I'm sure this is bone. Based on the tang stamp, it was made between 1940 - 1964. Thanks for watching, prh!
Just think of the money you could have saved if you only used your grandfathers knife as your knife of choice. Sweet preservation of a vintage classic. 😀
