A cat Kiki's size can take a lot of milk from the three newborns. Mothers need to eat the very best to make milk and keep their own strength and you bred Mimi immediately after Kiki, you didn't let her body rest for long enough between litters. Move Kiki away when you see her nursing.

The milk will not run out. I do not know how it is for mommy cats but for humans, if breastmilk accumulates, it needs to be pumped out. Otherwise it is painful if the milk is not pumped out. Besides, Kiki is working her right to the milk bar😉.

Kittens are suppose to nurse, to sleep and grow. They should not have to compete for milk. Mimi looks tired. How much is her body suppose to take. Hey there. As a breeder of cats for over 15 years i think you might need some advice here. Kiki needs to be removed she should not be suckling from mimi. She is taking away milk that those kittens need. She does not need it. You are putting the kittens at risk of mimis milk drying up.
Also kiki should not be allowed to play with the kittens the way she is. She will end up hurting them. She isnt being motherly or sisterly she thinks they are something to play with possibly eat.
This is a time for mimi to be with her kittens and just that. If kiki needs to be with her mum still she should be monitored closely.
If you take anything from this message please stop kiki feeding from mimi immediately. The kittens need that milk.
I dont mean any of this harshly i just think someone with experience of cat breeding needed to point this out.

I had grown foster kittens that would knock mom down to feed. Perhaps you should teach Kiki not to nurse by giving treats instead or put her in another room while babies eat. Always supervise them, she will bat them around when you arent looking!

Cats normally have litters of 5 kittens. Three is a small litter and Mimi has 8 teets and, unless something is wrong with her, all the teets have milk. There's no reason why she can't nurse all of them.

I'm sorry but I have to say a couple of things. Firstly Kiki is big enough, its size is almost the same as Mimi. It cannot suck the milk that is produced for the kittens. Otherwise the little kittens will remain without milk and it's against nature. Secondly, I find Kiki too rough with a little kitten, so consider that this kitten has its eyes closed yet, it is not a good idea trying to play with it. It can be dangerously hurted by Kiki.

Naturally mom cat’s are protective of their kittens, they don’t allow anyone touching them or the older kittens feed off them but Mimi is clearly tired and depressed; she has given up. I wish you would separate Kiki and take Mimi to see a doctor and get Coco fixed, take care of Mimi.
I don’t think it is a good idea to allow Kiki to suckle. She could easily deplete Mimi’s milk supply as she is about 10 times the size of the kittens😕
Mimi has EIGHT working teets and unless she is ill then she has plenty of milk for all of them. Most cats have litters of 5 and they get fed.
@@groundcontrol436385 The number of teets is not important -- the amount of milk consumed is the important factor. Cats have a limited supply of milk and if there is a sudden excess demand of multiples of what she is used to that could definitely create problems for her and her kittens.

I wonder if the amount of milk production is determined prenatal depending on the number of kitten fetii in the womb or if it is determined after birth. I also wonder if the production can be increased by the number of cats suckling - like when orphaned kittens or puppies are added to an existing litter to feed. It's all very interesting.
Even though it seems likely that milk production will increase due to demand, I’m sure that there is a time lag and that it won’t happen right away. Anyway, it does not seem that it is a risk worth taking with the kittens at such a vulnerable age and the older cat not needing to breastfeed

Poor Mimi. Kiki is almost as big as she is. And that poor baby kitten. Mimi is just not going to end up very well off with this going on… Kiki and the baby kittens are just a very rough combo and they’re turning mommy into a ragged little rag doll, bless her heart. I used to feel sorry for Kiki when the mother would chew the hell out of her...I dont know why she did...resentful or too young or maybe she got more attention or food....but now Kiki is lir=terally chewing the hell out of a defensless baby and the photographer is just letting her do it...this is the baby that doesnt get fed as much....then Kiki wants to nurse...that will be bad for mother and babies...Kiki should be kept away from kittens until they are old enough to play....AND the adult cats need to be fixed for obvious reasons...please be responsible...this is not entertainment and it is not cute.

I fell in love with Kiki the moment she popped out. However, biting those kittens like that, bothers me. And taking mothers milk, that’s not her milk to take. Those kittens are defenseless compared to Kiki. Have you tried to intervene? She needs to know she can’t take moms milk or bite her brothers & sisters like that!

Owner, please reassure us all that the vet knows about Kiki nursing when the tiny ones are nursing. I think it’s super cute, and I don’t think it’s particularly unnatural (she’s doing it, so by definition it’s natural-some cats will nurse as long as mom lets them) but Kiki’s almost as big as Mimi, and she seemed to be kind of hogging the milk bar from her tiny siblings. That’s my only real concern with that, as long as it’s not taking too much out of Mimi.
But please intervene when she bites the kittens like that, especially when she gets near their necks. I think she’s very curious and wants to help, but I do think she’s a bit jealous too, and she is still a cat with predatory instincts, after all.
Queens (mother cats) and other females will rarely kill and eat kittens - usually only if they are stillborn, sick, or have major birth defects.
She's not trying to hurt them on purpose, she just doesn't understand how fragile they are.

Believe me, if Mimi didn't want Kiki to suckle alongside her new siblings, she would put a stop to it. Instead, she laid her paw over her first baby and welcomed her into the fold. Mother animals know instinctively when it's okay and when they need to step in to protect the little ones. If Kiki was preventing the babies from nursing at all, that would be a totally different story, but instead it's like someone else commented: she's doing what some human toddlers do when they see baby brother or sister nursing, they want the same closeness with Mama that they had when they were small, so they take a turn at Mama's nipple to feel that. It's supposed to help keep the older ones from feeling jealous and resentful towards the little ones.

Yes it was sweet that Mimi put her arms around her first born she is the perfect mother the perfect teen mother you see Mimi is a teen in human years so she doesn't understand she can't let her adolescent daughter drink and fight her newborn siblings for a seat at the breakfast nook it would be the same as a 7or8 year old girl fighting her 3 week old sister for her mother's tit. You see the new born can't feed itself it needs milk Mimi can feed herself hell Mimi can have kittens of her own now. I love her but She's too big.
Separate Kiki from the young kittens and Mimi for a while. You have the corner of glass sliding door, put wether Mimi and the kittens or Koko and Kiki there. Separate them for good. Dont milk them just for your own gaining. They are beautiful creatures, dont get glutonny get over you, as the owner and content creator.
