I played violin in our school orchestra and we put on a production of Noyes Fludde at Pear Tree Church, Southampton for 3 nights. It was a memorable time!
Having performed in Noyes Fludde twice under the direction of John langstaff I have to give you a hats off. it is one of my most precious memories. one i can share with anyone who has had the joy of performing it. Amen.
I've been in NF twice, once as a wolf, an once as a gossip (I was hopeless at ringing the tea- cups). Both were full-scale productions in churches in Chelsea, London. Always good to hear it again😊
This opera really is a rich masterpiece, and so moving. I've so wanted to make a film of it. I sang in it in Suffolk under the supervision of Britten himself.
❤Congratulazioni, bellissima esecuzione!
I’ve loved this Britten work for many years, and listen to it at least once a year. I’ve longed to see a full scale production, but they are as rare as hens' teeth. Now I know why-it takes a massive collaboration of music schools for all ages, artisans, choreographers, and a conductor with nerves of steel. Treat yourself, it's a delight.
This is a good performance but a bit technically flawed, and not really a great "spectacle'. The Canadian version is, I believe, the only truly successful production on UA-cam: ua-cam.com/video/kan4oDbuUJM/v-deo.html&start_radio=1 The television direction is simply brilliant, the singer/actors wonderful. Such a shame it has not been published in a high quality format, and this low quality segmented form is all we have.
Wonderful! This is what music should be: participatory and inclusive of people of all backgrounds and abilities, but never pandering or trite. We need more community operas like this visionary work.
Ah, someone who sees it too. Immersive, engaging, immediate. Breaking the fourth wall and letting everyone in. Can only think of Pantomime that does something similar.
Randomly watching this video while formatting a report late at night by myself with my headphones on. At 33:37 I nearly had a heart attack. Creepiest audio insert imaginable.

What a find! This is gripping from start to finish and really the best I have seen.

May I ask you what your experience of Britten was?
That's amazing. I sang St Nicholas in his presence in The Maltings before he passed. It was with the Wandsworth School Choir.

Moonrise Kingdom brought me to this one.

I have always loved this opera. This production has all the charm and power the work requires. Bravo.
This is an excellent performance! Well done, indeed!
I recently saw the production at the Episcopal Church on E. 29st in Manhattan and felt the need to review it again. A very moving opera
