- Silver Wings was written and performed by the late Merle Haggard, a friend of actor-TV star Robert Fuller. (en.wikipedia.o...) While seated beside me at the dinner table prior to one of my performances at Rawah Guest Ranch, Robert asked me if could perform any Roger Miller or Merle Haggard tunes because they had both been close friends of his when they were still alive. Silver Wings is the Merle Haggard tune I selected and in this video Robert Fuller accompanied me on the spoons as his beautiful and charming wife, Jenifer (Savidge) Fuller sat next to him on the couch. video recording our performance. en.wikipedia.org /wiki/Jennifer_Savidge

Thanks for the compliment! I'm glad you liked our little impromptu duet. While I was seated beside Robert at the dinner table before my performance that evening he mentioned that he had been close friends with some of the musicians and composers that I have always admired: Hoagie Carmichael, Roger Miller, Merle Haggard. Of course I said yes when he requested that I play some of their songs after dinner, but I didn't know what to think when he whispered in my ear that he was going to swipe a couple of spoons off of the dinner table after they served desert!
Like everything he does Mr. Fuller makes it look so easy. And in fact he works very hard to make it magic. Thank you!

While I was seated beside Robert at the dinner table he whispered , “Don’t tell anybody but I’m going to swipe these two spoons after dinner!” I had no idea what he was planning to do with them, but he was considerate enough to put them back after our performance.

I don't think I will be posting anymore music on UA-cam because of their decision to enter into the political censorship arena with a lot of other radical leftist social media sites like FaceBook, Twitter etc. That has poisoned the water hole for me and many other patriotic Americans. That was an especially fun evening at Rawah Guest Ranch because Robert and Jennifer were so much fun, but I still play there every week in the summer and Rawah has a lot of special guests. I have performed there for many years and it just keeps getting better. I love my ranch gigs!
You’re welcome Ben! I enjoyed it a whole lot! Love “Silver Wings”! Love Robert’s spoon playing as well! Didn’t know he could do that. My sister and I met Robert in Bakersfield, California back in 1973, I think it was (memory not so good these days). I was awestruck! He was so nice! He autographed my sister’s cowgirl hat and my arm. Don’t know why I didn’t get a more permanent item autographed. Probably because I was only 20 and so overwhelmed by meeting Robert though.
And Bobby Fuller was wearing glasses, while playing with the spoons. He sometimes wear glasses.
