You kept these short to keep people watching?! James, I (and many others) could sit here for an hour listening to you guys talk about nothing but Star Wars! It's awesome hearing the voices (heh get it?) of the Clone Wars giving us their opinions and I feel 5 minutes isn't long enough! Anyhow keep up the great work 😉
We need an Anakin vs Ahsoka debate sometime with topics about their respective characters. "In Rebels, did Ashley survive the battle with Darth Matt?" "Was Ashley's decision to leave the Jedi order the correct one?" "Did Ashley know about Matt and Cat?"
Even though this was recorded over a year ago, the EU v. Canon argument could still, well, MOSTLY hold up today, we have a lot more clear information in new canon, with some old returning faces from the EU, but there are some we just have to let go... Hopefully not Mara Jade to a extent, I thought she was cool.
Things like KOTOR never had to really be taken out because what they replace will never be as amazing. So you can definitely use reason like this still.
Honestly, since EU never got into my country in its full extent, I wasn't even aware of it until recently when the whole "Disney destroyed EU" thing came up.... So I'm all for canon haha.
JamesBrad 1996 Was more of a compliment to Matt honestly. I enjoy his transparency on his opinions of Star Wars and he isn’t just catering to his fanbases opinions since most of his fans would stem for canon. And yeah, other guy has obviously not read or played a legends story in his life.
Oh my goodness, these debates are so fun to watch! I actually have nothing to add to this because Matt and JC had me laughing about the Leia question (even though JAT was right... Her dad was there the whole time lol)... and I'm conflicted about the canon vs EU thing (there are pros and cons to both sides, as Matt and JC describe). As for the last question... I will say that I just want a jet pack lol Wonderful video, JAT! Love it! (:
Even if Leia had told them the truth, they would have destroyed Alderaan anyway. She told them it was on Dantooine, and that could have been the truth for all they knew. The Empire used Alderaan as a demonstration of their power and a weak point for Leia. It was a weak point, she protected the Rebellion by lying, and they still destroyed Alderaan.
That's such a token response "Boba is a punk because of how he died" George Lucas had no idea how popular he was gonna be and made a stupid mistake by killing him. Boba was a clone of his father that was altered to be more like a normal kid. He was a badass in the clone wars show when he showed how ruthless he could be and also showed how he never considered the clones as brothers...well except for one. He became a famed bounty hunter at a young age, shot and killed Cad Bane, And hired by the Empire to track down The millennium Falcon...Which he does successfully, being the only bounty hunter to be able to track down and stop the rebels and Han Solo. Boba ain't no punk.
I hope you'll feature more iconic voice actors on this like you did last time with Jim! Speaking of voice-acting, you floored me with your impersonation of Gilbert Godfrey in the convention video! It was shocking how good it was. I was wondering... given how you can do everyone from Gilbert to Fred Flintstone to Christopher Walken... have you ever tried to do Tony Jay? The world of voice-acting just isn't the same without Tony. Tony was a master of the cold, calculating villain because of that one-of-a-kind voice of his. I dearly miss him and I keep hoping somebody will step up to plate and fill his shoes. I still say his best roles were Frollo from Hunchback of Notre Dame and Megabyte from Reboot. Heck, have you ever tried Alan Young? I know DuckTales is coming back and I keep wondering who they'll have to voice Scrooge since Alan is now gone :(
You're too kind, yes, Tony was a one of a kind and someone I enjoyed working with on many things. We had the same agent and I would sit in the lobby with him and listen to his stories in that marvelous voice... Masterful.
The Mind-blowing thing the EU did was kinda "fix" the Imperials as villains. The Imperials had always been flat and dull at best, and cruel and incompetent at worst. They only really mattered as a support network for Vader and Palpatine, both of whom cared much more about exploring the Dark Side then effectively governing the galaxy. The Imperials were interchangeable grey suits, who cares? Then "Heir to the Empire" came out and we had Captain Pellaeon and Grand Admiral Thrawn, the first Imperials anyone actually cared about. They weren't 'evil,' they sincerely believed their cause was the right one, and contrasted with the constantly-bickering New Republic, you could understand why they might think so... they were WRONG, but at least they had a coherent reason for fighting so hard against our heroes. Suddenly the Star Wars world was the kind of place where you could have these kinds of debates. The storytelling possibilities just bloomed. The new Canon seems to be trying the same thing, with Rae Sloane as the new "Not Evil Imperial." (Ironic since Thrawn has been moved 38 years forward in time and now seems to be a conventional 'evil for the sake of evil' Imperial Bad Guy) We will have to wait and see where they are going with this. Lets face it, the old EU got so bloated and inane towards the end that it was close to needing a reboot of it's own. I think Lucasfilm did the right thing.
I was hoping you can do one with Tara strong for a certain point of view on angela cross from going commando and with David kaye also on questions about who was pretening to be mr fizzwidget and other cool questions. one being is angela related to ratchet
I never knew you had a youtube channel let alone act thats so amazing!! good video by the way James and I have to admit you did a great job playing obi wan leonardo and so many people and I really enjoyed the movies and shows you stared in :D
I think Bail Organa would have thought that Leia's decision to keep the base a secret even with the threat of Alderaan being destroyed was the right call. He knew how important it was for the Rebellion to live on and defeat the Empire.
I didn't get the question about Leia. She didn't have a choice what they blew up did she? Didn't Tarkin tell her to give up the rebel base or else Alderan would be destroyed? She gave a false base so that Alderan would NOT be destroyed and Tarken blew up Alderan anyway in spite of saying he wouldn't if she gave up the base. Tarken then moved on the rebel base that Leia gave up only to find out she lied and then gave an execution order which Vader later talked him out of claiming she "may still be useful".
The debate was about her giving a false base and still trying to protect the rebels even at the stake of possibly losing her planet... no, she didn't know they would do it anyways, but it was a question of should she have told the truth in hopes of saving her planet... I know, I know... silly question but a good one for debate. : )
I love these debates they're so interesting and really make you think and this was another great and funny one interesting sides for all the topics and if Robot Chicken Star Wars has it Boba Fett is alive in the pit and eventually somehow got out lol
Bobba Is cool, come at me. Also Leia didnt choose to blow up Alderan, She wanted to protect the alliance so she lied. If she had said Hoth, they still would have destroyed Alderan. "A major weapons test is imminent" as heard from the Rouge One trailer. That test was gunna be done regardless. Also im for the Star Wars Canon, not eh EU, I agree that it makes it over saturated.
EU had a lot of stupid junk like: Energy draining pink bunnies, green human sized bunnies, centuars, werewolves, Sorrow the crying mountain, The Sun Crusher, Skippy the droid .....the list goes on and on.........
True. But new cannon has only garbage like Canto Bight, Rose Tico, fucking Luke Skywalker milking a space walrus, Gender Studied admiral. It keeps on going

I love how Matt likes Legends Universe more when the show he started contradicted so much of Legends

James your the best and don't ever tell your self different
Awesome Episode, Mr. Taylor I hope you can make longer Episodes I really enjoy and appreciate what you do!😀
We kept them short to keep people watching, however if we ever do another season we may extend them... People seem to like them. THX

CANON!

+James Arnold Taylor can you do a Boba Fett voice? The original voice though, not the special edition version.

Isn’t the clone wars, rebels, resistance and the mando stuff part of canon?
I never knew you had a youtube channel let alone act thats so amazing!! good video by the way James and I have to admit you did a great job playing obi wan leonardo and so many people and I really enjoyed the movies and shows you stared in :D

in the words of Kristian Harloff from Collider Jedi Council... "WHATS THE DEAL WITH CANON!!!!!"
YAY!!! I love these 😝
Me to
boba is alive

James Arnold Taylor
Ah, I got ya, makes sense. Thanks for the explanation.
Love the channel and the show BTW...and your body of work, big fan!
Either way, it was a decision that would haunt her for decades to come, cannon or EU :'(
I love these debates they're so interesting and really make you think and this was another great and funny one interesting sides for all the topics and if Robot Chicken Star Wars has it Boba Fett is alive in the pit and eventually somehow got out lol
