Wonderful video Devin! Got to assist in a 100hr inspection, however still have Not done an oil change on the aircraft yet. Now at least I have an idea 💡 of what lies ahead 😃

Oil filter needs to be torqued with a torque wrench and safety wired. Also there's a suction screen on the sump (R side) that needs to be checked, cleaned and replaced.

The oil filter should’ve been torqued and fastened using lockwire. If you fasten the filter as tight as you can, next time you have to change it; chances are you will break the top plug you would use to unscrew it and have a difficult time getting that filter off. Also, you should check the little suction filter screen when you change oil, you will be glad you did that if ever you find metal particles in there.

You also need to cut open the old oil filter to check if there is no debris in the filter.

Heli maintenance for mechanics in VR would be a great trainer. I was a mechanic at Ford and hated it. I am a good thinker but no memory and there was no good reference materials or training. I think cause car makers want the car as soon as out of warranty to fall apart so u buy the next model. Helicopters that would be the worst possible thing so makers not cagey about how to diagnose and fix problems. Not that u should mess around with heli stuff but that the mechanic have access to good repair maintenance info so a vr sim is a possibility. Makers have the full model every screw and part on a computer before first part made. Just upload that to a vr environment and make a fault the user has to find and solve.

Great for learning procedures and checklist items and scans but not really for flying skills

@@PilotDevin a learning process for who? You, or your audience?🤨 You don't "learn by doing" in aircraft maintenance....you have to be shown the proper way to perform maintenance (read 14 CFR §65.81)...and not using a calibrated torque wrench or safety wiring the filter is contrary to the Robinson Maintenance Manual and Lycoming Service Bulletin SB480F...what say you?

It should have been properly torqued and safety wired.

Jesus really? How to change the oil? cleaning? if you call it clean work..Safety wire? cleaning after filling with oil is where? And the style of how you write data to the filter incredible. I already have something worked on, but even students who see a helicopter for the first time will not do that.Put on the floor? really?
if you also do the maintenance as you change the oil, you must have a good insurance policy. But I would never sit in it.

Here in Europe, if the helicopter is used by commercial ATO, don't think even to unscrew a bolt... And regardless of my skill level in mechanics, I wouldn't touch anything from the arcraft.
