“First of all shut up Alex your awesome” and i get a thumbs up. Got my year 11 mocks next week and you really help me out with my history revision, keep up the good work.
Ahhh, so you're the same person (as in yt acc and twitter acc).... that makes a lot of sense! Good luck with your mocks, the first one will be pretty scary, but it should get easier as you get more used to it! :)
Have you listened to Kevin Stroud's "History of English"? He tells the history of the English speaking peoples by telling the history of the English language. It brings the history really close to you since we get to know how words and phrases and sounds and grammar enter the language and why. His story of the last poem written in Old English is especially poignant.
@@Alonglongtimeago I've just finished my History mocks, and have realised that I don't know the topics. I much prefer videos to reading, and your clear summaries are a good way of reminding myself of a topic. Thanks for making them!
@@sam0fc325 Happy to help! And indeed, mocks are excellent for working out what you don't know. In fact, I had a mock exam today! (and I've got one tomorrow...)
It's something I've thought about actually, but the only Saxon reenactment group near me that I can find only accepts over 18s, so I'll probs look into it again when I got to uni.
Pleased I helped! Also, you don't suck at history... believe in yourself! :D You've got ages before the final exams (though it probably doesn't seem like it), even if you suck right now, you can be a history ninja by the summer! Hope your mocks went well :)
Hey I’m in year 9 and doing my history GCSE this year and predicted an 8 but finishing papers especially 16 markers is hard have you got any advice for timing during the exam?
I had the same problem, but I managed to figure out a solution! I plan to do a video on it at some point, but, in short: Make sure you know your content, and how to answer questions, inside out. Also, the big thing: do the exam paper in the wrong order. When you write slowly, you have to minimise thinking time. So, when you get the paper, go straight to the last question. When there's a choice of 2 questions, write an answer to whichever question you can come up with a 3rd bullet point for first. If you spend too long and can't think of a 3rd point for either, then just write the paragraphs for the first 2 bullet points. Once you've done that (or got stuck), find the next question that you can think of an answer to. And basically just bounce around the paper writing responses to the questions you can think of an answer to. Remember that you don't have to write your answer to a question in one go - you can write a paragraph, write another answer and then come back and write another paragraph on the first question. Hopefully, you can understand that mess of writing :)
This is a bit late but I know a couple who did a lot of history in university and they work for the gov't now. It's more practical and they get a nice pension.
1:48 if you want some challenge in this area, try to do some Belgian political and institutional history. It may seem kind of boring but when you realize that Belgian independence was made by what we call the Monstrous Alliance, made of conservative Catholic and anti-clerical Liberals and Republicans, starting the Belgian tradition of "compromising" between incompatibles opinions, I think there are some amazing people stories to be told And I'm not pushing that because I'm Belgian, not at all
@@Alonglongtimeago It becomes really strange in the 20th century with the introduction of the universal (male) suffrage, there we can see a liberal-socialist-communist government with a catholic opposition for example
Wait I didnt get notification for this video wow I didn't get to comment I am so sad I missed this :( oh btw I did know a lot about you for some reason so 0:36 was a lie
I thought you were a bit quiet. :( And soz about lying to you at 0:36, it was almost like I sat next to you in geography for 2 years... (ok, I lied again - year 11, you were on the desk in front of me!)
@@Alonglongtimeago oh no, i am sorry if i gave you that impression Jasmine. Your accent is fine really, i just find some pronunciations funny. I speak 5 languages and i love accents and dialects of Germanic and Slavic languages but I'm sure if you'd hear me speak English you'd be laughing too. :)

You got your life way more put together than I was at your age and also now. Good stuff.
Haha, thanks. Though, there's still plenty of time for it all to go wrong!
Hear, hear!
I like your smile, you seem to be a happy person. ;))
:)
I think we need a history song now that we know you are studying music.
Maybe one day...

No worries anyway what topics did you do for art?
I didn't do art for GCSE, but I'm currently doing contrasts, no idea what topic we'll do after that, or beyond...
Lol, u have helped me in my mocks. I’m going through GCSE rn and I suck at history. Ur vids have helped me. Thanks a lot. Keep up the amazing work!!!
Amen to that!

But I don't know what GCSE is... :-(
GCSEs are the exams taken in the UK at age 16
@@Alonglongtimeago Thanks! I got really confused, though I still don't know what is meant with "revision" and "mock" in this context.

Isn't Southampton a town?
It was until 1964, when it was given city status. :)
American wars of independence are total arse to revise
I'll take your word for it.
Ha my sister is a demon 😂😢
