I’m so frustrated hearing these generational trauma stories. This lady seems to have lived her life already so there’s not much to say here but I sure hope that our younger generations can decipher between a healthy loving home and put themselves first before being so afraid that their kids will follow the same fate as them. Be a strong woman and be the mom that your dad/mom wasn’t for your children and leave that man who doesn’t love you. Love yourself and give yourself what others aren’t willing to give you. You deserve everything the world has told you you don’t.

Sometimes you just have to learn to say "NO" even if it cost your relationship with them. My Brother in law until this day is very angry with us because I, the sister in law, refused to loan a hundred thousands out of our home equity to him for a business that did in fact failed. I truly believed that if we have lend him the money, our relationship would have been even more damaged! A different brother in law said to me once and I will never forget, "people borrowed because their intention was 'never to pay back' and again, I believe that this statement is true because most of the time, my in laws have tried to borrow even when they DO HAVE THE MONEY. We have lend money out to family but only in the amount that we are willing to forgive and a hundred thousands was a bit too much! The most we ever lend out was 30 thousands and thankfully, it was paid back.
I just don't understand people who like to borrow money from family relatives.
There are a lot of banks everywhere. They can try to borrow from the bank.

Never loan $ to anyone especially friends and family. If you do never give it to them in cash. Write a check and in the memo put “loan” on it so if they dont pay you back, take them to court. Thats one thing about Hmong OG’s is that they always borrow in cash and too nice to put it on paper. I would never borrow to anyone.

You're absolutely 💯 right! Here in America everyone turned themselves into witches and monsters!!! I was the first wave who came to America first, I have borrowed thousands of dollars to relatives and friends, but they never paid me back. They waited until they died then their people said that person was dead so my money was also dead who's going to pay you??? So, based on the lessons we went through, don't ever borrow your money to anyone else once your money is out of your hand it's not yours anymore you're just going to be the victimized from your own good will!!!

As a child you’re helpless but as a women - you can use your voice and your power to never be controlled by those who abuse and are cruel to you and have no regrets about it as you improve your own life. Do not ever lend out money to anyone without papers, proof, a plan, timeframe for payback. Especially 40k, wow. Have them go to the bank. You know you won’t see it back. Be assertive, be powerful, be what you’re meant to be. Speak up for yourself and some people you don’t need to be so nice to especially if they think you’re a rug they can just step on and your passive to not ask back. Banks have money - go there.
She should've listened and consulted with her kids. Sounds like they were a lot smarter than her. Her $$$$ would've still be at the bank if she listened to her highly educated kids. It doesn't sound like this lady is a kind hearted lady, sounds more like she's a fool. Someone can only fool you once, if they can fool more than once, you are the fool. Keep your money for you and your kids, whomever is successful with your money, they won't remember who you are and will never do the same to you as you did to them.
