Thank you for providing information for the public. I am trying to make people more aware of what is going on. I wish I could do more to get their attention..

Due to the lack of foresight everything is just a muddled mess. They should have been making stronger regulations back in the beginning stages of the internet but no one believed it would take over all other media. Now in the present time we are seeing all the media" fighting for eyeballs" as newspapers, magazines, radio and television are no longer viable sources of advertisement, as they are to become extinct. You can get the word out by summing up in a few paragraphs what you are warning people about and what you think is a better solution. then post on your page.

Thanks for posting the video! Critical Cyber Systems Protection Act: If they do this they'd better include the Government itself and its agencies too. I recall they were the ones found to be reliant on OpenSSL a while back (LOL). Of course I disagree with all the secrecy and the apparent carte-blanche given to the Minister. Spitballing: Security is a both a relative and transient thing... an infrastructure that is safe and protected today could be breached tomorrow in spite of use of the latest technology and best practices. They must find some alternative that protects our rights but still allows the Minister to address rapidly evolving situations in a timely manner, and there has to be some appeal mechanism. A competent Tribunal might deal with legal situations more effectively than the regular court system.

Hello David, awesome presentation, as usual. Sorry I missed the original event - would have loved to discuss some of this at the end.
    1. I wonder how much of the "gotta-protect-Canada-news-and-tv' in the Online News Act and Online Streaming Act might be driven by Rodriguez's political ambitions and a desire to create some "achievement" that is his and not Trudeau's. Also, I could be very wrong, but this legislation might be seen as more tolerable within a Quebec language-and-cultural-protections ethos. So, Trudeau not putting the kibosh on this from the beginning might be his way of giving Rodriguez enough rope to hang himself, although at tremendous cost to the country. This is not a comment you should respond to, of course.
    2. To my eye, the Online News Act and Online Streaming Act will just drive younger consumers to buy VPN services (if they do not already have them).
    3. Agree 100% about the delay on the CPPA. The only legitimate reason for a continued delay would be if the government were hoping to have some backroom adequacy negotiations with EU. But I don't think it works that way. The government might as well pass it and then negotiate.
    4. Hoping the government treats AIDA as a trial balloon, drops it in the fall, and comes back later with better legislation.
    5. The "secret orders" are hugely problematic, and seem unlikely to work in practice. Imagine a "no-Huawei-equipment" secret order. Even the US didn't try to make that secret. If you gave that order to a telco, someone is going to leak it. Telcos will have to tell their lawyers, and include the prohibition in their contracts with suppliers. Someone will have to tell Huawei, or Huawei would figure it out and go public. And if it has to go to cabinet for approval, then it will be leaked for political reasons. The idea seems half-baked.
    Thanks again!

saw a comment on a forum regarding your govt privacy breach there. Mentioned govt wants you to contact your legal and finance advisors as their alert to you is advice and you can bet govt wont pay for you to get that legal advice on the breach.
