First off so very glad to see you Nic! I’ve missed your sharp wit and quirky “Nic-isms”!! As I am a junk journal maker I was drawn to this project .. envisioning card stock in place of the mat board and have each of the 5 pairs a cover for a signature! Using canvas straps as the binding! I don’t know! I’m like you .. gotta ponder it!!
I bet they're beautiful, too! I laminated some of mine on just one side, the front, using matte laminate. They look even more beautiful, like they're behind a very fine veil or something, and gives them strength for using in your journaling, card- or sticker-making.
I swear Nik! You crack me up! “Rebel without a clue.” Hahaha 🤣 Honestly, you are brilliant! I could never figure out what those instructions wanted.. so glad you can show us these cool videos! Thanks 😊
Seems like a manual that would come with an appliance or car instead of a step by step craft how to do book. I agree with you on the lay out of the book. I think this kind book without pictures of the actual product as you go along is harder to do accomplish the product as you try to follow the written instructions. But, I am sure if anyone could figure it out you would be the person to be able to accomplish the task. Thanks for showing us this video as flower season is faster approaching for a majority of us.
Hi Nik, I’ve been drying flowers lately and this would be so nice to have. I’ve been thinking about what to make and you have the answer I believe. Thank you for showing this. I love your videos and you wonderful little books.
I don’t give a flying hoot about getting all the pages, I kept getting a file that my iPad wouldn’t download but I made me some miniature botanical books that is rippin! I like my first miniature books I ever made, I’m proud f myself....even if I’m missing pages 😏😁 thanks Nik! I love this leaf book idea because I’m going to grow a herb garden and I’m going to have to learn which is which 😄 no I do no know my herbs 🤷🏻♀️
Well this was way more work to make than I was expecting! I covered all the inside boards on both sides (what was I thinking?) and then had to improvise when I glued the hinges on wrong. Oh well, now I know I'll likely never make this one again!
Okay the ladies below help me figure out what the problem was thank you to them both! Please ignore paragraph 2 in this Nik. This is really cool Nick can't wait to see part 2!! Namaste my friend!🥰🐞🤗 I got to 12:00/20:16 time stamp and I can't get it to do anything but buffer? I can go back and it plays fine but if I try to go forward it just keeps buffering. Looks like a cool idea though Nic🥰🐞🤗
I'd think the pages will be too much of a gap to press flowers? We just use and old heavy book and place petals/plants in the middle. Then shut and wait for a few weeks
I love watching your videos......... Even the cutting, taping parts. Thank you for sharing your talents. I totally get the concentration thingy going on!! Great work.....
Well Ms Booksmith, YOU need to do us a book, a book with lots a photos! 😬 yeah, I know, you do videos which is way better. I purchased 2 classes a year ago, on sale, and I’ve not watched them because I’ve not purchased all the supplies so I wonder if they will expire at some point on teachable? BTW, are you going to do live, In person classes again soon? 👍🏻😬
Hi Buffy! No worries about your classes. As long as you don't delete your account, you're golden. A book? yes...that's actually on the list at some point, and a live class, too! =)
Other than in the "Supply List", was there ever any further mention of how to use the waxed paper? Nik, did you tape your mixed media "blotting" paper into your book or leave it loose to be replaced after leaf pressing, as needed? Without the metal corners & scissors, do you think one's leaf pressing time could be reduced by popping this press book in a microwave? Love your videos!
@@alicethomson8542 Right? I appreciate that she took the time to flip through the book and explain how the directions were laid out, and that it lacked important photos to help put it together. I WANT to know ALL of the details, or I have trouble duplicating the crafty things I see on UA-cam in general. Also, we just enjoy listening to Nik, so it doesn't matter how long her videos are.

The amount of flowers I've pressed this spring alone with my daughters I am running out of books to press them so this is just perfect timing for me!

A rebel with glue! 😂🤣 Awesome project and next on my list! Thank you!!! 🙏🌼
you are a you tube gem.
ty for sharing your lovely talents
Homemade Quarter Inch Bar: Remove the metal from a hanging file folder. Use that!
It’s actually just a tad over 1/4”😉
I’m a visual learner too! I love this idea. I need something to press my flowers with. Looking forward to Part 2.

Hooray for summer sales! It would be cute as a flip journal with a surprise on each flip....pretty cool.
I love the laughter you bring. Thank you so much for being. Out loud.
Rebel without a 'clue'!!!! I have been looking for that interp. You get me😁🇨🇦

I agree; I actually sent this book back!
Hi Nik, I’m liking what you’re doing so far and will watch the video # 2 when ready … thanks for sharing this. Hope you are feeling better 😊.
Very interesting if nothing else would make a fun journal
Like cooking you go with ingredients you have.♥️
So luv ya! So fun doing this project!🦌💌🙏📚☕️
I love this idea, thanks for sharing!
Looks great so far! Can’t wait to see what’s next! Thanks lady for sharing 😉🌸 I am with you on the instructions need to see everything 🌸
Perfect timing, thanks for sharing 👍🏻
Well, that was that! I want to make this book, or lots of these books. Must watch the next part.

I think it may be UA-cam. I'm having problems with all videos right now.
UA-cam has been down tonight.

Love how you made what you had work for the book. Thank you so much for sharing your talents.
This is such a fun project, I like the fabric from the covers.
You can get 1/4 inch quilting bars on Amazon.co.uk they are labelled - Prym Quilters Quarter Plastic, Transparent. For under £3.
You can get a 1/4" thingy in quilting supplies in JoAnn's.
You are probably 1% of tutorial videos on youtube. Thank you for this! Can't wait to see how it progresses!!!
Oh, this is great! Looks like a fun project to try! Thanks for sharing!
So a good idea ! I have to make one this weekend ! Thank you to share !! Have a nice day 💜

"GUESS I COULD READ THE THING.," I'M THE SAME WAY, LOL!
Hmm, maybe they could have made it seem less complicated... seeing you do this helps a lot ! Thanks for sharing, waiting patiently (not) for part 2.
Beautiful! Love it!
Very Beautiful❤️ I will certainly imitate thank you
Brilliant!😃
Love your style!
This looks interesting! 🌺❤️
Great idea! Ty
So far so good 👍
Cool project Nik 😘👍😘
I love this so much! Your SNL mom jeans reference had me 😂😂
I have a 11/4" quilters bar if people aren't near a Lowes or Home Depot. Just another option available.
I'm living for the mom jeans clip.
I don't even have to hear the audio to have that song play in my head when I see that clip. 😄

Ima say your 2 cents is worth more like $2 😅 because I absolutely agree- frustrating! And to the publications detriment!
Blotting paper? Hinge paper? So many unfamiliar terms for me in this video. I am going to try making this and maybe learn a little something. 🙂
parchment paper not a thing anymore?
Of course it is, but it's always nice to learn about other alternatives.
wow, it got kinda complicated for no reason, (not you) heading to part 2

hello! I went to check and it says to use the waxed paper to smooth out wrinkles or bubbles after gluing the paper to the cover boards.
Maybe the instruction book would make good covers for a concept journal and the pages could be inserts...if it continues to be so unhelpful.
Hi Rachel Patten, what’s a concept journal?
oh Charlean...the video explaining that will be soon =)
Nik the Booksmith awesome, thank you
@@charlean_sherrod also see Nik’s playlist on her channel to find her Poe, Hyde, Adventure and more books. That is a binge watch waiting to happen!
Rachel Patten thank you, I’ll check them out, I just don’t know what a concept journal is, lol
She probably didn't want to tell you what to do. She's not your mom.
Ummm what happened? Lol.. Hope your feeling better so you can finish this.. I was just getting into it too lol
She said there would be a part two, and there is.
@@iamdawt yeah I missed that part apparently but watched part 2 tonight.. Glad she's feeling up to finishing it 😁
Ruh Roh. 3/4 the way through a bandaid on your finger appeared . Seems to be a dangerous project.
Lol I'm a total klutz AND a bleeder. Bad combo. 😄
Over six minutes into the vid before actual instruction
ty for the heads-up!!
So?.....
