Pakistan's growth rate was due to only because of US pumping Aid Dollars in Pakistan, it was NOT due to Pakistan actually producing anything in the country.
Once that flow was stopped by Trump, Pakistan started collapsing economically.

Pakistani govt in 2013 allocated land to develop Information technology University (ITU) to challenge India's IIT infrastructure but today there is Bakra Mandi on that land , no single brick placed to develop that University. Pakistan education system is poor so future generations future in not bright (this generation can't make Pakistan bright country). Recently in Pakistan annual budget, govt has decreased education budget and increase defence budget.

Bashani sb and Gora sb, thanks for very good and balanced analysis. Very well said. The simple case is that we were spending too much as compared to our income. The lavish life style and imports of unnecessary items, from kitchen items to bathroom fittings, even very expansive floor tiles, definitely deteriorated the economy. The imports remained double that of exports, the rupee deteriorated due to corrupt system, corrupt management system, judiciary and bearucracy. Very limited capacity building. There is too much money availble in Pakistan only due to corruption and at the same time tax evading for the last 40 years. Nobody is sincerely working. A very strict approach is required to change. Bangladeshi takka is 2.5 times stronger than pak rupee.

Barrister saab is absolutely right. Pakistan budget is spent uselessly for a few people of elite civil beauracrats and military officers. IMF and other agencies should not fund Pakistan for such purposes, but for only spending on development.

Sirs, one hears a lot about the mythological booming economy of Pakistan in the late 50s- early 60s, till the ‘65 war, and then in the 80s.
I call it a myth because in the late 50s Pakistan was the ‘frontline’ state, bulwark against communism and fattened with American largesse and weapons of the Korean War.
In the 80s it was the frontline against the Soviet’s Afghan adventure, again fattened by the US/KSA ‘bheek’.
What sustainable activity did P’stan do across the above time periods to be called successful, growth economy?
Did it develop industry, tourism, infrastructure, social structures, land reforms, education?

Pakistan fattened on largesse of America and the west but they had gotten the most productive lands of India in terms of agriculture especially in the west too. From wheat to things like Jute, Pakistan was producing enough to feed its people export the surplus during those times.
I used to play football as a kid in the eighties and one time I had to buy like 3 football's one after another because I broke 2 and lost one and all 3 I bought from Indian shops were 'made in Pakistan'

I very often watch your discourse on TAG TV for enhancing my knowledge on current political situations, especially in the context of Pakistan.
Your analysis and views are certainly objective and comprehensive but at times I feel that the analysis is not exactly 360 degree in nature.
I believe both of you are not located in Pakistan but probably in Europe or Canada. Even then most learned and enlightened personalities like your goodselves somehow miss to hit the nail into the head i.e.not pointing out the root cause in clear terms viz. Pakistan has always been happy to be used by big powers for getting huge doses of fiscal aid,especially from the USA,in order to live in a fanatic world of make belief and self deception, to continue to maintain uncalled for and costly enmity with India, on the basis of its convoluted logic that Pak can bleed India into thousands of cuts by fanning extremism in Kashmir and elsewhere also,by manufacturing atomic weapons that are now difficult to maintain, by showing false bravado that it is the leader of Islamic world, by sometime using Saudis and sometime Turkey and now China in its desperate and ill conceived endeavor to break India.
In the process it has been broken into two(with the creation of Bangladesh) and there is a palpable probability of further break-up (taqseem) i.e.Bloachistan if the Punjabi dominated Pak Army doesn't end its repression of Bloachi people.
The root cause is radical Islamic politics and wahabi thought. Late Gen.Ziaul Haque was perhaps the most significant figure to institutionalize and perpetuate this radical process which is the mother or father of almost all dangerous zihadi organizations inside and out Pakistan including ISIS.
This suits all big powers, especially the USA and for sometime even Russia & now China also , to keep on using Pakistan as a ready and willing pawn in their game.
However all shortcuts by individuals or nations some day result in short circuit and I am afraid Pakistan has reached a point of boil or call it short circuit unless a miracle occurs and Pakistan once again starts enjoying phenomenal freebies from USA.
