I cried at the thought of the three warriors Ventus- who destroyed half his heart and lost in a slumber Terra- who became Darkness's vessel Aqua- who lost both her closest friends and saved them, only for her to be lost in the shadows It's so goddamn heart wreching
*) Most of his heart You can't destroy half of your heart and leave the rest ... If you want to destroy your heart, you can only destroy all of them ... That's how great Ventus's sacrifice is ... With help of miracle, a very small fragment of his heart, luckily, remains, and within Sora, that heart regain its form ...
I'd just like to point out the cruel irony Ventus being depicted as a shooting star. In the beginning of the game, Ventus was the first to see the meteor shower, before Terra and Aqua joined him. Terra said, "Each star up there is another world. The light is their hearts, and it's shining down on us like a million lanterns." Ventus doesn't understand, to which Terra adds, "In other words, they're just like you, Ven."
There's so much symbolism in one intro. The most clever ones were the shooting star part and when the three gathered at the Keyblade Graveyard and the camera starts to pan upwards and making an "X" shape. Is that the word to use? "Symbolism"? Or is it more like a foreshadowing kind of thing?
Terra. Possessed by Xehanort's heart to cause everything what happened in kh 1-2 Ventus. Put into a coma and his heart was basically destroyed. Aqua. Forced to travel the realm of darkness alone. Birth By Sleep doesn't f*** around.
1:17 love the parallel! Terra is running through a white corridor representing the light guiding while a dark cloud chases him that slowly corrupts him. Then there's Ventus running through a black corridor that represents the darkness leading him to the x-blade while the a white fog representing the light chases him and finally catches up to him.
Darkness didn't corrupt Terra, well you can say that in a way but you see, darkness cannot be always bad and light cannot be always good. Say Master Eraqus for example, he was consumed by light and as for Terra, he still had a good even though he was consumed by darkness.
Your also missing the reflections on the ground Terra running from darkness his reflection is Ventus. Ventus running from light his reflection is Terra. It might just be a symbol. Terra running from light into darkness and Ventus running from light into darkness.
Kinda makes you sad knowing how incredibly fucked each of the three protagonists in birth by sleep are by the end. Ventus is now a vegetable stuck in the basement of castle oblivion I think, Terra has been abused to high hell, while pretty much losing any sense of consciousness after being possessed by xehanort, and aqua, who probably has it the worst out of everyone, is stuck wandering the dark margin and any other worlds in the realm of darkness, constantly fighting off heartless while slowly going insane, having hallucinations of her best friends she hasn't seen in over 7 years. I guess TECHNICALLY they won against xehanort because the X-blade was destroyed when Ventus basically killed himself, or at least destroyed his heart for the most part, but it really doesn't feel like much of a victory considering the circumstances.
+Dylan Roediger Ventus and Aqua have a better chance of coming back than Terra. For all intents and purposes Sora killed him. He Xehanort took his body and then with the darkness of his own heart split that body into two pieces. Sora killed the body and the darkened heart but because of the circumstances surrounded from the death Xehanort put himself back together in his original body but Terra is still gone. As far as I can tell They killed him unless the same rules apply for Terra as it did for Xehanort.
+Dylan Roediger This series is also pretty good at fixing plot holes too, mostly because we often know so little that it can be improvised. I never found the plot too confusing they tell us everything we need to know. if it gets confusing it's mostly because people haven't put the information together properly.
Ventus dont died, because he have a link with sora, i mean, part of sora complete ventus heart in the begin of BBS, that how Ven can get the keyblade again when wake, and Roxas look like ventus, for the part he have in sora. (This is my theory)
I just love how in the end, the symbolism is as strong. Idk how to explain it but there's something that, once you see that when Ventus' platform shatters, the only Keyblades you see are the Kingdom Key and Riku's one, afterwards, the camera pans to Sora and Riku. It's really cool.
Rey Samuel oMG I AGREE SO MUCH! I FEEL LIKE IT MEANS SOME SORT OF FORESHADOW THAT SORA AND RIKU ARE GOING TO GET HIS HEART COMPLETELY BACK IN CASTLE OBLIVION IN THE THIRD GAME I'M EXCITED
The last cutscene of ven in the night sky as a shooting star, before descending down into sora before it ends. Kind of a nice spoiler in the ending that isn't noticeable until you've played the game fully.
The reason why Roxas looks like Ventus is because Ventus is inside of Sora's heart, therefore making his memories Sora's "memories", too. So when Roxas was made, he was supposed to look like Sora, if it weren't for Ventus. Just so you know.
Chiisaru Mimi I knew this already . . . until last month because i bought 2.5 cause i could never beat the game nine years ago after my ps 2 broke. Fucking dog pissed on it.
Out of all the kingdom hearts games, this has to be my favorite. Not just in the opening, but the overall story itself is immaculate. The way Square has set it up where you actually don’t need to know anything regarding the other kingdom hearts games in order to understand the story completely while also throwing in hints and jabs to more well established players of the series where it sheds light on the overall Kingdom hearts storyline is immaculate. This game has a special place in my heart and made me re-think story based games.

1:16 terra running from darkness represents him trying to go back with ventus and Aqua and be good and ventus running from light represents trying to catch up to terra by running into darkness but failed and falls into light
this was the game that really got me into the story of kingdom hearts back then. i was blown away when i first learned the truth about terra-xehanort's existence
I like how in the movie it shows terra's heart being consumed by darkness while ventus gets consumed by the light. at least that's how it looks like to me.
Lyrics: You're giving me too many things Lately you're all I need You smiled at me and said, Don't get me wrong I love you But does that mean I have to meet your father? I never considered this before. But when Terra is running from the darkness it doesn't catch up to him. I guess this was to show even when his body was taken over by Xehanort he was still in a way alive and not lost completely. As he says defiantly during the secret ending "You're going to be shone the door old man". But because of Ventus's fight with Vanitas to create the X-Key he actually was CONSUMED and in a sense died unlike Terra. MAN I LOVE THIS OPENING SO FREAKING MUCH.
Some of the most impactful stories are the tragic ones, knowing that the protagonists deserved the happy ending but instead of closure they lost even more then when they started. And in KH getting the answer after all this time makes the moment they finally receive that long deserved closure they (and we) were robbed of for years exponentially more powerful.
I personally love how this opening literally tells you some of the biggest beats in the story. It's a damn good opening I'm not arguing that I just find it humorous that Nomura basically said "For this opening scene I want you to show the players what to expect and the rest of the game will be building up to what you see in the opening to the game" It may be just me who finds this funny but eh, if that's how it is then so be it but I do appreciate whoever is taking time out of their day to read this comment. I hope you the reader have a wonderful time of day whenever that may be for you.
In the running section, you can actually see Ventus in Terra’s reflection, symbolizing that although Ven is searching desperately for Terra, he is so close yet so far
+bernapoos Was just thinking that. Chrono Cross' intro is fucking magnificent. I sometimes slip in the disc just to listen to it. Birth By Sleep and the original Kingdom Hearts both have fantastic openings, though. I'd never have anything bad to say about them. +Lumine usher of the new generation The foreshadowing is definitely fantastic, but I think it's more about how it impacts viewers than how much thought went into it. As far as depth, it's at the top, even beating out KH 1 and 2's openings.
LunarD3A7H I prefer the BBS opening over the KH1 opening, despite them having the same song. Everything in thid one is so synched to the music and there is more going on than just Sora fucking around on Destiny Islands.
I Showed My Mom Kingdom Hearts. She Bought Kingdom Hearts 3 For Me And When She Watched Me Play It She Loved The Story And The Final Fantasy And Disney Crossover For It And When She Heard That There's Gonna Be A Series Of Kingdom Hearts On Disney+ She Was Hyped For It.
All these years later, this is still just... goddamn amazing. And what really amazes me is how Square are somehow always the ones that manage to maintain or even exceed their own standards. I just played FFXVI... the SAME MAGIC is in that game. It's a bit tonally different, but it's there. How is it possible? How have they managed to hold on to what made the earliest FFs, and Kingdom Hearts, so magnificent?
I finished kh2.5 again recently. It's a PS2 game which somehow has more tighter and better looking animations and gameplay than most modern games. Haven't played XVI yet but looking forward to the PC release.
Birth By Sleep A story about three friends whose hearts and fates were linked, and the actions of one man that would separate them for what seemed to be forever. Each of them wanted to be so much more, each of them fell into darkness in their own unique way. Aqua sacrificed her freedom to save Terra, leading her down a literal and metaphorical dark path. Terra embodied the phrase, “The road to hell is often paved with good intentions” and became a road himself for Xehanort to enact his ultimate goal. Ventus attempted to battle and break his own inner darkness given form, but in the process, fell into an eternal slumber, his heart missing from his body. Their torches were passed down to the next generation, a generation that would go on to embody them in various ways and, ultimately, bring them back together again.
Having played through this game a few times, and knowing everything that happens, I have fun while playing through it now, with an undertone of sadness. I can't wait to see how they implement Ventus', Aqua's and Terra's story in KHIII
Gabriel Falkner I honestly don't care about terra. I just want to see how aqua deals with it and if she can restore ventus and bring terra back. I have a bad feeling that aqua won't succeed.
1:16 1) Terra fighting the temptations of darkness. 2) Ventus avoiding the fight between light and darkness. 3) Aqua ends up alone in the Realm of Darkness. :(
I buyed all the collection on steam recently... I finished kh1, and now i'm playing my 2nd game of birth by sleep... That's why I'm here... So yeah, i'm here in 2024
They They changed the lighting for the opening which shows up best in the Terra walking past Aqua in a white background scene and made Aquas hair white and eye color unrecognizable at 1:05. This scene wasn't like this in the original Birth By Sleep opening. We've been staring at this for almost 4 years in the face without realizing the implications.
God damn.... The goosebumps don't stop. Felt emotionally attached to these characters back in 2014. That attachment resurfaced. Gonna go find my psp now...
I owned this on psp. The memories of playing this game when I was young, and being 17 now, this game STILL gives me goosebumps. Always will be one of the best storyline games. Love you Sora~
I love the contrast between Terra and Ventus when they're running away from the light and darkness. In Ventus' case, I guess he saw the light as the danger(???) but I love how he had his friends flickering in the background and it showed that he was chasing one person who wasn't really concerned with his needs at the moment, all the while having the new friends he made, meanwhile in Terra's case, he was running the darkness and he felt as if he'd have nothing if darkness resided within him, er- that's just my take from it.
been a while. but rewatching the intro again after years brings back memories of friendship and adventure. i almost teared up. this game moved me profoundly🥺
Late but, they were actually going to make a series but they decided to make books. Have you read them yet? They are very interesting and they drawings are very beautiful and creative! You should totally read the manga.

Ventus. Put into a coma and his heart was basically destroyed.
Aqua. Forced to travel the realm of darkness alone.
Birth By Sleep doesn't f*** around.

Don't forget. Ventus was in Castle Oblivion the entire time we played Chain of Memories.
Except kh3 undoes all of that xD
Kingdom hearts:You'll never get a full happy ending so put your hopes aside
@Pup DaNi and don’t forget about union x
I like how Sora and Riku's Keybaldes are the ones to shatter Ven's Dive to the Heart. It symbolizes the end of his story as the beginning of theirs.
Dang 😨

ASpookySkeleton no, because you can see in the game hes trying to pull away from it but “fails” (in KH3 we see that it was his plan all along)

i love KH3's opening and all but this is still like, the best cinematic intro to anything.
In the running section, you can actually see Ventus in Terra’s reflection, symbolizing that although Ven is searching desperately for Terra, he is so close yet so far
best fucking intro to a game ever
Don't know about that. PS1 probably has the best openings for games ever. Chrono Cross and FFVIII are two that come to my mind.
Logan Kelly sorry the f/sn novels, more so reala nua take the cake of that
idk mate this opening is pretty top tier. It has plenty of foreshadowing and symbolism in it.
To me, this will always be my favorite kingdom hearts.
I couldn’t get far in bbs in elementary school so I just kept rewatching the opening on my psp
Same 😭
1:31 EPIC animation Aqua's expression like she's about to cry momentarily
Wow the Quality of the sound is SO GOOD!!!
Birth By Sleep
A story about three friends whose hearts and fates were linked, and the actions of one man that would separate them for what seemed to be forever.
Well said. 😎
I ain't reading allat
Having played through this game a few times, and knowing everything that happens, I have fun while playing through it now, with an undertone of sadness. I can't wait to see how they implement Ventus', Aqua's and Terra's story in KHIII
Gabriel Falkner I honestly don't care about terra. I just want to see how aqua deals with it and if she can restore ventus and bring terra back. I have a bad feeling that aqua won't succeed.
So....
How was it??
Still gives me goosebumps and tears. Even 358/2 days too...
I feel that this is the best intro of all kingdom hearts games
i have watched this intro 78 times now. still amazing
I cant be the only person who noticed all through the game. Everyone had those oceany blue eyes.
And i mean like EVERYONE
Listening to this high af is a whole different experience
I need to try this now
Try the 8d version high. I highly recommend that shit!
KH 1 makes me nostalgia tear up, Kh2 makes me nostalgia tear up, This floods me back with their whole friendship and makes me actually sad sad tear up
This whole opening is filled with excellent foreshadowing like my god
when you think that everything in the opening is dramatized events of the game but all that intense shit you saw comes true
I never played this game, but the scenes in this opening are already shivering me.. especially @ 1:03 to 1:11. Couldnt get more emotional and excited.
Kingdom Hearts 2 and Birth by Sleep. My 2 fave KH games during the golden era (2005-2010)
How many people are like me and still listen to this in 2018 and still will in 2019?
2020
Dont know why but the scenes of terra and ventus running through a hallway gives me chills 1:16
1:16
1) Terra fighting the temptations of darkness.
2) Ventus avoiding the fight between light and darkness.
3) Aqua ends up alone in the Realm of Darkness.
:(
Lets be real, this 1:15 part of the animation just slaps
I love the transitions with Aqua. Probably the best parts of this opening.
1:16 is my favorite part!
This opening hurt me deep in the heart each time i listen and watch it
Their story has to be my favorite because it ends in tragedy for all 3. Everytime I see this op it makes me cry.
just imagine how nostalgic kingdom hearts 3's opening is gonna be
Felix Okat Just fuse 0.2 and Dream Drop Distance, and by the end add the Dream Drop Distance part. Not too hard
This comment didn’t age well... lol. The theme is so bad I can’t stand it
@@Dkownzall f*ck off
@@Dkownzall to you.
@@okat32 you’re right actually it ended up growing on me haha. Funny how time works.
Anyone from 2024?? 😮
2024 👍
same
Always
Yes
I buyed all the collection on steam recently... I finished kh1, and now i'm playing my 2nd game of birth by sleep... That's why I'm here... So yeah, i'm here in 2024
1:14 is so heart wrenching :(
They
They changed the lighting for the opening which shows up best in the Terra walking past Aqua in a white background scene and made Aquas hair white and eye color unrecognizable at 1:05.
This scene wasn't like this in the original Birth By Sleep opening.
We've been staring at this for almost 4 years in the face without realizing the implications.
"Okay I believe you."
Darkness within Darkness
"heartless"
"Memories"
"Hearts"
Italian X-BLADE
i miss this game and ventus because ven is my favourite character
Who came here after seeing the new 0.2 Birth by sleep opening?
mee
More like after kh3 was released
THIS WAS THE SADEST OF ALL THE KINGDOM OF HEARTS SERIES.
BUT ALSO THE BEST ONE FROM ALL OF THEM. 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Hold me part is my favorite part of the whole opening. Seeing Terra and Ven running like that is a nice touch
I just noticed terra is running from the darkness and ventus is running from the light, pfttt amazing.
I never owned the game I had to borrow it and I turn 17 in 2 weeks
This is my favorite opening for the simple and clean remix
I love the contrast between Terra and Ventus when they're running away from the light and darkness.
In Ventus' case, I guess he saw the light as the danger(???) but I love how he had his friends flickering in the background and it showed that he was chasing one person who wasn't really concerned with his needs at the moment, all the while having the new friends he made, meanwhile in Terra's case, he was running the darkness and he felt as if he'd have nothing if darkness resided within him, er- that's just my take from it.
I think it's supposed to foreshadow Eraqus trying to kill him in the name of the light.
1:30 that pained expression hits too hard. I can feel the pain 😭
1:16 me running from responsibilities.
lol
Hahaha
This is the best kingdom hearts opening change my mind
1:07 Terra letting out the juiciest fart as he walks by
been a while. but rewatching the intro again after years brings back memories of friendship and adventure. i almost teared up. this game moved me profoundly🥺
Even though I hate Xehanort he's still a badass xP
thoughts on him now?
The trio with the most bittersweet ending. They did prevent Xehanort from creating the X-Blade but all of them lost in some way.
who here wants a kingdom hearts anime that would be so cool
Late but, they were actually going to make a series but they decided to make books. Have you read them yet? They are very interesting and they drawings are very beautiful and creative! You should totally read the manga.
Yes especially the comedy of Organization XIII
Yeah
0:17 Terra, stop hitting yourself.
