I followed this video step by step exactly as a last ditch effort and this still doesn’t work. Fuck this game on game pass . This is absolute bullshit that 10 years of development and the people at Bethesda couldn’t make it easy to mod from game pass/ pc knowing the only reason anyone would pay the extra $ would be to add mods.
* sigh * the issues drop up because the game pass version has permissions on it, because of course it does (third parties wont support a drm-enabled platform if that drm can easily be defeating, just like wiht the console, any sub has to do this or lose third party support fast than you can say Vita). If the mod makers dont want to work around on, that is understandable but also on them. if mods are super important to you, wait for the tools to actually come out and reasses then - you likely will need the Steam version, but by then, it will likely cost less than $30, maybe even less than that during some Winter lunar sales or whatever it will be called.
to try to help people out, what I have found is that its has to be in the DOCUMENTS area because game pass installs it in 2 places. 1: where you tell it to install and 2: the documents folder on your system. after install run the game once and it should populate the folder if not populated already. Hope this helps (vortex MM tells you to do a step to join the 2 folders)
This also didn't work for me. At this point I'm going to have to hire someone to come over and fix it lol. Some mods are working (StarUI, BetterHUD) by copying directly into the content folder. But anything that modifies textures does not seem to work.
Not all mods are supported for Starfield Game pass version. Better check the description of the mod and see if the xbox game pass version is supported.
Same, I've tried everything, every possible fix. Some things work, but yeah anything like custom clothes or skin upscales or HD, not working for Windows Store version. About to re buy it on Steam just for this lol. Bye bye $100 XD
And then take a nap as you are too tired now to play the game. No JK thanks for the video as I wasn't sure you could mod game pass games but am new to it all.
This is probably the worst guide so far. Everything was confusing especially the file name change and then moving it over and then it's a completely different file name than what you just said to change it to
would it be possible for you to make a video on how to install SFSE for gamepass users by any chance ? I saw that it was possible but find it quite confusing to understand (if am not overcomplicating it)

wait so if this doesn't go where the launcher is, does that mean i have to move the mods over as well? Or can i leave the mods in the data folder where the launcher is located? I ask because i noticed there was another data folder. Also would it be possible to just keep both custom ini's in both folders instead of one?
@@marigold289 I found that keeping the mods in both data packs doesn't do anything bad necessarily, since it wouldn't normally work in one folder anyways. Some mods do require it to be in the folder where the EXE. is located and the other mods, are in the Documents folder.

am I copying the StafieldCustom or StafieldPrefs? you renamed it StarfieldCustom but then copied StafieldPrefs from desktop?
Exactly! Fucking confusing

then just create them - create a new text file and save it with an .ini extension instead of letting is save as .txt
