I feel like Wang Chuqin was very lucky with nets and edges, where Lin Shidong barely got any (if at all). Lin played a bit more defensively as the game progressed and Wang took the initiative, I think that a couple of misses on Lin's backhand flick stopped him from trying it for the rest of the game. Good win and spectacular match tho

Nets and edges may wind up the most interesting thing about Chinese TT. It's becoming harder to watch at the top-tier levels. Everyone is starting to play the same, every point looks like it was clone from some earlier point, monotony sets in.
The World needs more Xu Xin's, Ma Te's, Alexis Lebrun's, Truls, Gauzy's, etc.

@@-danRChinese TT players play obviously differently. Wang Chuqin’s games are very boring due to his suspicious serves and ending a rally early with his forehand. Lin Shidong clearly has a different style as he always plays long rally which always makes his points get chosen by WTT top points

This end on camera position clearly shows both players using illegal serves. The umpires should have this camera view on a screen in front of them during the match so they can officiate fully and correctly.
Players have a lower point of view than the camera angle. They “might” see the serve better. Not sure though.

wang's serve is so illegal. 15cm is the distance between the ball and your tossing hand. Thus even you toss the ball pretty high but when your hand goes with it, it's still illegal.

@@曹花花-g4f 15cm is little higher than a standard net. You can watch slow motion video and some of the tosses are definitely not high enough.
The problem is that when they do so, it's difficult for a referee to call them out unless you use eagle eye. I think they intentionally did that so people hesitate to call them out.
@翻译一下吧，我英语不好，王楚钦的球不是离台面15cm，即使离手，其实在视频里打底已经是有了的，因为15cm顶多就是3个乒乓球的直径，并没有想象的那么高，高的叫高抛了，而且他抛球的的时候手有点遮着，更不好说是什么时候抛得球了，但就在视频里看到的，我个人认为没有太大的问题，毕竟裁判没判罚
@ 但实话讲发球真的只是一个很小但确实很重要的部分，欧洲选手在这方面十分欠缺，我个人感觉有点推卸责任的嫌疑了
@@曹花花-g4f 我翻译一下吧. 王发球用手把球抬到比较高的地方然后抛出来. 规则是说抛球手要离球的最高距离是15cm. 王很多球就是没到, 即使把球举到高的地方也不能算. 那等于是把球举到高处落下来而不是抛出去.

The ball has to rise at least 16cm according to the ITTF handbook. Looks to me that Wang has projected the ball well above 16cm in all serves.
