The 2018 Studio "Deluxe" Silverburst is a great playing guitar as well. So glad Gibson put neck binding on the 2018 Studio models! I really believe it was a BIG selling point for these guitars. I also appreciate the weight relief. I'm kinda digging the Smokehouse burst here too. I may have to start looking for one to keep my silverburst company!
I've got a 93 Studio lite. It's got an ebony fretboard and plays like a dream. Light too. They're well worth the money. Especially if you have a gig in a suspicious bar or club.
Great vid. The studios are perfect workhorse guitars and a great bang for the buck. Plus, they are adding great finishes, bound necks, coil splitting, and '57s. They have come a long way. The only Les Paul I still own is a limited edition 2011 Classic '60s studio in Manhattan Midnight with white binding on the neck and chrome Grovers and no pick guard. It has a set of 490s instead of the '57s and no coil splitting, but it is still one of my favorite guitars. By the way, it is crazy that they added a pick guard to such a beautiful guitar. That finish looks outstanding. Keep up the good work guys. Let's go 100 subs!
I just recent bought the new 2018 Les Paul BFG Limited Edition and it did come with Klusons.... i had to swap them for some Gotoh Locking tuners.. i also last year about a brand new boxed 2014 Gibson Les Paul Futura with E tune system on there.. wow what a crap, i had to swap for some Gotoh´s in that guitar as well.
it's much improved over previous studios . it bow has the 57/57+ set instead of the awful 490 and 498 set . 57 classics are far better and plus you get coil splitting making it much more versatile. the neck binding is nice added cosmetic feature. I just wish gibson did not put slim taper necks on so many models. I like those rounded c profiles that sit in between slim taper and 50s thick necks. slim taper necks make my hand cramp . some of is need thicker necks.
@Adam Watson: IMO, the 490/498 set is awesome, not awful. Many guitar players love them and hate the 57's, although I happen to like the 57's. But I like the 490/498 a least as much. Also, many guitarists (definitely not me) prefer the Burstbuckers to either the 490/498 or the 57's, and the Burstbuckers are now in the higher end LP's. I don't think there is any right or wrong here. It just goes to show that preferences for pickups (and guitars in general) is highly subjective and individualistic. I think this is a good review of the 2019 LP Studio by an excellent guitar player and the guitar he is playing has the 490/498 set. Check it out if you get a chance. Might not change your opinion, but maybe it will...
I got my studio last year but having a bad time with the G. Tried intonation several times but the G still causes me a problem. I did come straight from acoustic to this guitar and I may be a bit too heavy on the Studio. What gauge are you using and what would be the gauge limit on the Studio? Cheers guys.
Hey! So I actually dont have this guitar anymore. Couldn't keep it in tune. A few things you can do to help: 1. Lube the nut and bridge saddles. Use nut sauce or pencil graphite. You'll need to do this once every couple of weeks. 2. Use 9.5's or 10's. (My experience) the strings tend to stress the break angle of the headstock for those problem strings. 3. Softer touch vs a harder touch. Also strum lighter. A lot of players use more wrist than arm when strumming and use the right amount of pressure on the strings when fretting and experience better stability. Also, a wound G string helps some people.
@@ProducerDudes: Thanks for the information. I like the idea of a wound G, it makes good sense. I now have a guitar butler and this works great but I will try the wound G string. Cheers mate.
awesome vid , im looking at this guitar as a cheaper option to a tradtional . im hesitant on the ultra weight relief , in your guys opinion does it make much diff to the sound compared to no weight relief ? thanks for any advice ...
3000KTM I’ve had a few studios, standards, trad pros and classics. Studios have always been my favorite. So I usually base les pull tones off of customs and studios. I think the new studios sound great. I also will be the first to admit that Gibson has been going through an odd spell as of late with some choices they’ve made, but this newest rendition of the les Paul studio is 5 Star.
I think its a solid buy. I actually had to sell this one because I needed to change up my amp and pedla board situation. If you checkout Guitar Center's Used les pauls, the Plano, TX store still has it and its like new. Priced a few hundred bucks off. Comes with the case and all the goodies that came with it. Tho I took off the pickguard. One of the screws for it fell off at some point. But its a great quality instrument you would def enjoy!
For sure bud! Hopefully I was helpful! All of these guitars were going through a Line 6 Helix. So if you aren't a fan of digital tone, it sounds that much better with a good ol tube amp!
Klimt Art we were using the line 6 Helix. Either a fender twin, box ac30, Marshall jcm800, or bogner Ubershhall with with over drive pedals, delay and reverb when effects are on. Tho it was all done with the helix DI to the interface. Is that what you mean?
Anthony P sadly, no. We were on humbucker. Tho I will say, with like a plexi style Amp with low gain, in single coil mode, it sounds really good on the bridge position. I was jamming with a bud and was digging the tone a lot, then looked down to see it was tapped
I own guitars with both grovers and klusons and my 2 guitars with klusons have less tuning issues them my Grover guitars. the best fix for tuning issues are to replace the nut the nut on modern gibsons is often cut wrong it's a cheap and easy fix . there is no reason a guitar with good quality klusons won't stay in tune. I no many people who have guitars with klusons and they have no major tuning issues. if you have a guitar with klusons and it has tuning issues that does not mean the klusons are the problem. could be the nut maybe the neck is not set right or the frets may not be completely level. buying grovers does not guarantee you're tuning issues will go away. guitars with klusons that stay in tune are no where near as rare as these guys claim.
Help now confused lol was going to get les Paul standard Like slim neck and want light weght. Opinion please ty want a good sound for blues clean sound kinda starting out
Diana Scott hey, so any les paul would sound great for blues. Standards have the asymmetrical necks so they aren't the normal 60s slim anymore. Some people love them, some people gage them, myself included. I much prefer the studio and classic line for that reason. I had a bud use a les Paul studio into a fender twin and get plays blues and got amazing tone.
The 2018 model is around 1700, every other version of a studio is 1500. Faded and others range around 700 to 1200. If you're just staffing out, why not check out a standard epiphone? 500 and then a few hundred more bucks into some dope pickups? That'd be an awesome value situation. Also, used is a great market as well so long as it's a well taken care of instrument
The one I bought is set up perfectly and actually stays in tune, unlike the last Gibson les paul I owned. I would also take these pickups any day of the week over the BB pros that I had on my last one that were sterile sounding. The 490/498 are warner... which is why the custom shop guitars have them. Now the cons... the finishes are boring and fingerprint magnets. I mean that black and red ones are sooo old... the tangerine looks like an easter egg. I bought the smokehouse burst and it looks like an ash tray from a 70s lounge... but is supposed to be a modern color? Again, sooo boring. Also, the coil tapping is worthless on this guitar... sounds terrible. Prs coil tapping is waaaay better in every way. If you are thinking of saving money and buying the tribute instead... and don't care to pay more for a high gloss finish I would say go with the tribute the coil splits aren't worth the added cost. I do think the finish looks better than most tributes but still lacking. But so are the new Gibson standard colors now... Gibson fans are just boring and only want the same old thing their rock idols had back in the day versus something new and modern. That's why I have three PRS guitars and only one Gibson. Prs is light years ahead with design, colors, etc. My cheaper PRS Chris Robertson even sounds better than my new Gibson studio and it's asian made..go figure. But again this studio is still a great sounding guitar. I'm so glad they got rid of the awful Kluson tuners. They were a real eye sore. Maybe that's why this one actually stays in tune. I'm still deciding if this Gibson is a keeper. If I didn't have better sounding and playing PRS guitars I would definately keep it. With all of this said at least you can get a usa pro sounding Gibson... same as the standard without the bling you don't need... for less that $1,500. You have to spend about $3,800 to get a core PRS... and the cheaper PRS either don't have set necks or are Asian made... but still epic
Here and there? Never again will I order a Gibson. 100% fail rate for me. 2 brand new Les Paul's and both needed repaired straight out of the factory. Gibson sucks!!!
MyName Here that's a bummer bud. I've owned about to 12 Gibson les Pauls and only 1 had to be sent back for another one. Other than that they had been perfect from factory.
Got my Smokehouse LP about a month ago . It’s one amazingly beautiful machine !
I got one on the way. Haha ended up having to part with this one

VinnySOB haha thanks so much!!! For sure, I love the studio. They tend to always make their way into my collection
The 2021 models do not have neck binding, nor do the new models have Classic 57's :(
That face you made in the beginning was exactly my face when I saw this guitar. Gonna buy it someday for sure.
thanks for posting this review, very helpful

You are right , no matter how many pictures you take of this guitar , they just don’t do it any justice .
I was just about to ask “what’s up with the red tape”. Guess I have to watch that video afterwards. Love your enthusiasm
It's basically like a hair tie for your guitar to prevent a string buzz
What are you using for amp, settings and pedals to get these tones? FYI: I just ordered one from the Chicago guys myself on Reverb. Sweet.
John Anderson hey! I believe it’s all through a Helix!

Very nice!
I really wont one:[ Thanks for the vid
What amp are you guys playing through?
Sean Armao line 6 helix in this video
can you tell us which effect you have ? thx

thank you very much for your answer - Miguel from France
Sounds great! Would really like to hear the difference between tapped and not tapped with distortion. When you two were soloing, were you tapped?
Anthony P sadly, no. We were on humbucker. Tho I will say, with like a plexi style Amp with low gain, in single coil mode, it sounds really good on the bridge position. I was jamming with a bud and was digging the tone a lot, then looked down to see it was tapped
I'd put some gold hardware on this baby

Stop spending money on a shit company. Your the reason a bankrupt company stays alive
