I completely agree. I had been getting pretty bored with the music I usually listen to, and I was despairing because of it. Then I discovered Steven Wilson & had a reason to be excited again.
il ritorno del progressive di alto livello , un lavoro stupendo, come non se ne vedeva da anni , il sound è favoloso , la musica è coinvolgente con i suoi chiaroscuri
I listened to that Kate Bush song " All the Love" he talks about at 13:39. Took me more than one listen- but what an absolutely haunting track. Definitely unexpected. Thank you for the recommendation Mr. Wilson. Everyone else, check if out!
I'm 56 and regretfully, I have never seen and may never see collectively the real and original members of the band Porcupine Tree perform live. Its my opinion that during the touring days of the original real band promotion here in the U.S. was somewhere between completely ineffective and non existent. The recordings of the original band's music had and continues to have a profound impact on my perception of music's ability to penetrate and awaken the spiritual being in us all so I do indeed respect PT's work Collectively. Needless to say I look forward to seeing a few members perform as Porcupine Tree this coming Sept. I will not be alone in missing dreadfully the members whos presence is required to make a different band that really WAS PORCUPINE TREE. I appreciate much of Steven's contribution a to PT's creativity and originality. I resent stevens self centered arrogant implications basically saying that he felt the need to push Guthrie Govan to explore new or broader textures and sounds implying Guthrie was in need of Stevens support, encouragement and insight needed to further Guthrie's unrivaled potential as a guitar player. As if Guthrie had never before explored ifferent sounds that he may derive from a guitar. My opinion is Steven should recognize the true order of things in his field and as well as stevens clear misinterpreted perception of his self rank when among the likes of Guthrie. I do not believe Guthrie Govan, who always maintains respect and humility would ever say to the masses something as arrogant and act like he's teaching Steven something even though he surely can and probably has in reality. It appears Steven is hoping we listeners might infer that he himself has much to offer to Guthrie from his position of superior understanding of music and sound. Steven needs to recognize. Steven should reconsider what was said and implied about Guthrie need for Steven. I believe Guthrie was humbly willing to submit to the confinements of the simple guitar parts written for a master like Guthrie. They are no where in the same hemisphere when it comes to which one has earned and demonstrates true authority and genius thru actual writing and playing which is what it's really all about instead of large ego self praise talk.
Whoa! Nice diatribe! I’ve not read that before? I’ll give witness on his talent. My eldest son said “Dad, I got a spare ticket to see Steven Wilson, you in?” Mr. Wilson proved to me why he’s one of the best musicians out there bringing us bliss! I’ve never been so blown away in a long time!!! And we had Stage Right box seats!! Reached Nirvana that night. It was so perfectly executed that I almost thought it was a movie!
I simply loop exit watching studio footage, so cool! I used to play in panic and survival and west star studios which where never this glamorous of course, maybe next time round!
Lυиαтyc its incredible! I actually study mechanic engineering and play guitar. i dont know what way take. I like eng. But music is amazing for me. When i see this video i feel the same "wow i want this " sorry for my english. Cheers from arg
It was a crazy concert ,a total bang for the buck! The first 1.5 hours was the entire Hand Cannot Erase from left to right which was perfect in almost every sense , and the last 2 hours were Porcupine Tree songs, all the popular ones. The crowd went relatively more crazy in the second half but according to me both halves were equally good! Stage presence and antiques were more prominent in the second half though!
Fuck! And I thought the last time I was on the Wilson concert, Marco and Guthrie were simply not there because the concert dates were coliding with the Aristocrats tour. But to think, that they will not play with Wilson again is sad. They really pushed the live experience (at least) one level higher.
Tyler Jacobson both drummers are quite different. I got to see both drummers playing at Nearfest with Eddie Johnson’s UK. I prefer Marco because he’s more feel than Magini’s technique.
Funny. At one point I was hearing Beatles, if they had stuck together long enough to go prog. Then he mentions the woman in the city disappearing and I think Eleanor Rigby.
Still fresh in late 2022! One of my top ten favorite albums!! Thank you, Chaps!!!
The creation of a Masterpiece. In my humble opinion, it's the best prog recording in many many years.
Yeah agreed, this and deloused in the comatorium.
Also In Contact, Caligula's Horse and Circus Maximus, Isolate (more metalish but amazing records)
I completely agree. I had been getting pretty bored with the music I usually listen to, and I was despairing because of it. Then I discovered Steven Wilson & had a reason to be excited again.
For me this is top3 album of this millennium.
One of the best albums of all-time.
Minemann is a fucking beast
I really love this album. Thank you so much Steven Wilson!!
"Straight-forward pop"
Writes it in 9/8
the words "for me" I think are key there.
Yeah, but Stays 9/8 :) ..
Genesis' "turn it on again" was very successful pop, written in 13/8 .
Veramente un bel disco...un lavoro curato nei dettagli...come si faceva negli anni 70 - 79
Alan Parsons è un mito poi in questo.
Grazie Steven. 👍😎
i dont think odd time signatures make a song not pop
plus many songs on the radio are in 9/8
2:07 -Guthrie "I see what you're doing there marco, that's our song"
+Paul Ellis desert tornado I believe
Yeah, great song
We need to hear the outtake of Ancestral solo...
My favourite Steven Wilson album by far.
il ritorno del progressive di alto livello , un lavoro stupendo, come non se ne vedeva da anni , il sound è favoloso , la musica è coinvolgente con i suoi chiaroscuri
Why have I never heard of this guy? I've been under a rock it seems! RUSH influence from the outset!!
Imagine wandering past and just hearing snippets of a room full of geniuses through the door.
Steven is such a marvelous storyteller. The way he approaches subjects and the beauty with which he portrays it. Stellar
A masterpiece of an album, great team of super talented musicians, thank goodness Marco Minnemann came on board and didnt go to DT

3:22 Guthrie casually throwing in some Star Trek. Because Guthrie.
a big reason that I am happy to being in this world is listening to 'Steven Wilson...'
I listened to that Kate Bush song " All the Love" he talks about at 13:39. Took me more than one listen- but what an absolutely haunting track. Definitely unexpected. Thank you for the recommendation Mr. Wilson. Everyone else, check if out!
ANIL Prasad the interviewer with Steven Wilson 💙 from Nepal
Great team up of musicians. Steven I hope uses them again for his next album. They are perfect fit for perfect music. Nuff said.

As expected...amazing.
Steven in shoes? what happened?
This means that he wears shoes...
I simply loop exit watching studio footage, so cool! I used to play in panic and survival and west star studios which where never this glamorous of course, maybe next time round!
There is a heavy Rush influence in this.....The intro, the drum sequence
EXACTLY what came to my mind. I have NEVER heard of him before.... and I thought I knew music! like what I hear this far. well be getting it!!!
This is his best work
references...really inspiring
i want this to be my life ç_ç
Lυиαтyc its incredible! I actually study mechanic engineering and play guitar. i dont know what way take. I like eng. But music is amazing for me. When i see this video i feel the same "wow i want this " sorry for my english. Cheers from arg
Awesome!
The best album of 2015... this coming from a Pink Floyd fan and David Gilmour just putting out a new record.
Best album of 2015 by far!

14:20 Amazing Sound...
Omg guthrie really improvise the Ancestral solo!

Genius of note.

Sarang Mittal So Sarang , you saw S.W. live ; tell us how was it?

The Master.......
Legendaarista
Wilson is God.
masters at their trade.
Sad to realize that Marco will never play with Steven again and maybe even Guthrie :((((((((((((((
Other than The Aristocrats why not?
einarabelc5 check Marco's facebook - he is angry about Steven's treatment with him and Guthrie
yeah. As much as I love Steven Wilson, he's a bit of an ass. He's brilliant though! I can't deny that....
Fuck! And I thought the last time I was on the Wilson concert, Marco and Guthrie were simply not there because the concert dates were coliding with the Aristocrats tour. How so? just curious what makes him and "Ass"?
9:11 Ladies and gentlemen... Marco Minnemann

Steve with SHOES ON! 3:00 Yes it does happen when it gets chilly out hehe ;)
1:56 Marco on "Desert Tornado"
Wow! Sounds like RUSH
Somebody can tell me what kind of technique recording is the Jerrycan with the mic inside in the drumbass?
.......And Richard Hammond on drums! .......
1:55 Desert Tornado by The Aristocrats ;-)
5:39 - 5:44
I'm so in love.
“Straight forward pop tunes” (in 9/8) 😂😂
Marco has a tshirt with french actor Louis de Funès o_o xD
Rare footage of Steven Wilson wearing shoes
I want to hear Ancestral with Ninet featured more prominently in the “come back if you want to” section
Marco minnerman is such a great drummer. God damn. Why dream theater chose magini over him is beyond me.
Tyler Jacobson both drummers are quite different. I got to see both drummers playing at Nearfest with Eddie Johnson’s UK. I prefer Marco because he’s more feel than Magini’s technique.
To my knowledge minnemann wasnt gona join
similar at recording rush album!!! or not???
1:56, is that desert tornado by the aristocrasts?
It is.
Progchamp
What's that plastic bottle in front of the kick with cable coming out of it? :O around 8:10
Love it, but Steven goes full Spinal Tap around 18 min, with his explanation of the album paraphernalia on offer.
1:30 was adam holztmann playing frank zappa ? it reminds of eat that question intro
Does Steven Wilson ever smile?
Funny. At one point I was hearing Beatles, if they had stuck together long enough to go prog. Then he mentions the woman in the city disappearing and I think Eleanor Rigby.

Is there a full length documentary of this?
It is full length documentary.
7:34 what about the water gallon?
I was wondering the same thing. I wish there were some close-up photos of the setup there. Could there be something like a 57 inside it?
wow, i forgot about this, meanwhile i opened my own studio. next week i'll try it out!
Adam is drinking coffee...prolly less stressful than with Miles
Anyone knows which studio is this one?
AIR Studio, Hampstead, London.
