    This is what I do with my EQ DSPs: 2 or 3 knobs at most. Always V-Shaping and never sculpting frequencies.

    I always get great results from the original BBE sonic maximizer

    The Schitt Loki is an equalizer and is not meant to do the same thing as the Bellari Excitr. The direct competition is the BBE Sonix Maximizer. BBE invented this technology decades ago and have several models for professional use that includes rack units, guitar pedals, and software plugins. Their entry level consumer units are the $99 282iR (unbalanced RCA) and the $129 282iRx (balanced XLR). I have used BBEs in studio work and also had a unit in a stereo stack back in the 90's. Not sure how the Bellari compares to the BBE though one Amazon reviewer did compare it and said the BBE is better.

      Is BBE the company name? Could you share a link to the product?

    Thank you for this. I cancelled my order for the Loki and bought the SE560 instead. It was delivered today and I’m thoroughly enjoying it with my turntable and streaming with my phone.

    Thanks for your review. After seeing it, I realized the Loki would be too fiddly for me. I think the simplicity of the Bellari. I don't wanting to spend my time fiddling with so many knobs/ parameters. I know it would suit some people, but not me. Great review!

    I have the Loki and it's working for me just fine, but I would like to try the Excitr box sometime. Thanks for the info.

    sound exciter vs eq. Not a apples to apples comparison.

    i have the bellari eq and this is paired to an anima t8 and modified a07. the 570 and 560 don't work well together....i either just have the exciter as additional preamp with effects turned off and with the clean tone of the 570 EQ or i neutralize the 570 eq and then do t8 remote control tone adjustment with the sonic exciter...usually on dialog and shows and not music. lots of dB gain with the 560 though

      I’m thinking of buying either the EQ or the Sonic Exciter for my Hifi system. It will be between a network player and the amp. In your opinion, what would you advise on which one to use? Incidentally I had the T8 for a while, great little preamp.

    I love the spice analogy! I never got the pathological hatred of many "serious" audiophiles for EQ. To me EQ is an important part of tuning sound.

      It's their desire to listen to music unadulterated. In a sense I understand their perspective.

      @@NoThemeReviews Although the music is altered with every piece of electronics in the original and preproduced signal path, the quality of the delivery medium, the acoustics in the air and in the ear, ad nauseum. This sounds like a perfect box to help add the spice mix that may be missing, especially on the fly as a playlist is streaming for example. I would like to see more spice mixes, such as, an added harmonics mix, a reflected wave time delay mix, a soundstage fine tuning mix, a tube simulator mix, a headphone cross-feed mix.

      @@johnbradshaw5900 there's not a single EQ I've used in my lifetime of being an audio enthusiast that hasn't added some degree of distortion to the sound. Albeit minor...but it's absolutely there.

    This is cool. I have to learn to declutter my desk before thinking about getting one. Might happen.

    • @NoThemeReviews
      @NoThemeReviews  4 роки тому +1

      I was pretty surprised how well it pairs with something like the Rane RH50. Bass lite headphones get a huge lift.

      @@NoThemeReviews I'd like to know how it is with the Sundara, which has excellent bass extension but some roll-off... sounds like the kind of thing it might be perfect for! I'm not sure if I have the same idea about the Rane bass that you do at all, but... that's a lot of typing (about a headphone I gave to my sister, lol)

    Great video, thank you for the in depth review. I would have liked a more fair comparison between the Bellari EQ570 and the Schiit as appose to the SE560.

      Ah yes. Unfortunately Bellari only sent me the SE. I can ask if they’re willing to let me review the EQ.

    can you suggest an inexpensive headphone amp to pair with the bellari 560 exciter? I have the HA540 for my Argons. Based on your recent Douk amp review, I decided to give the Douk Audio U3 a try.

    • @NoThemeReviews
      @NoThemeReviews  3 роки тому +1

      For me, it paired well with the Magni Heresy. I also tried with the HA543 and Liquid Spark, both of which worked fine.

  • @ragecandy

    I don’t get what the volume knob does, is it just a regular preamp (that only goes down)? Or does it actually amplify the signal, can’t it overdrive the headphone amp if it actually increases the gain? I plan on using it with headphones and only really want the tone controls but I’m worried it’s gonna mess up something if its some kind of amp itself.

    • @NoThemeReviews
      @NoThemeReviews  4 роки тому +1

      The SE560 does seem to increase gain through that volume knob, but the increase is not significant. It's there for fine-tuning the filters.

      No Theme Reviews ahh thanks!, also could this also lower bass/treble or just boost them?

    • @NoThemeReviews
      @NoThemeReviews  4 роки тому

      It can but it’s not just bass and treble. It’s not a proper EQ, but a particular analogue filter.

    Speaking of audio products available in red, have you ever had the opportunity to try one of the SPL headphones amp ? If yes, any opinion. Thx in advance for your answer.

    • @NoThemeReviews
      @NoThemeReviews  4 роки тому

      I have coveted one of the big SPL Phonitors, but I have no idea what I'd do with it. And their stuff is just far too expensive.

    Looks like their SE570 is more of a direct competition with the Loki and only $20 extra. First thing I'll do if I get a unit is to put MAGA on it.

    Can this be used for headphones? I have a turntable with a preamp installed in it that can be switched from line to phono and speakers with an amp installed but I’m wanting to know if this will be ok to set up to my turntable and plug in headphones

    • @NoThemeReviews
      @NoThemeReviews  3 роки тому +1

      You can't plug headphones directly into this. But you can have a headphone amp plugged into it, then plug your headphones into the amp.
